I want to know where someone said Phil's rights were violated? No one said that. Everyone is just debating if they agree with him saying it out loud, or if they agree with the stametment itself. I have not seen one person write that he shouldn't have lost his job due to his rights. They are two different things. People really have a hard time with comprehension.
My UO: I think the bible is overrated. (I was going to say crock of shit, but admittedly would have been going too far) It has some good lessons scattered throughout a whole bunch of outdated concepts.

None of my 4 babies have ever slept in a crib for more than 20 minutes. I personally don't know any mamas who have successfully used a crib for their babies. Even with tricks like the heating pad or a blankie that smells like mama......I think with rare exception, if you tell me your baby sleeps in a crib, I feel you must be practicing some form of CIO. How can your baby not be screaming their head off? Even if you go In there and comfort them every 5 minutes, they have to be screaming their little heads off. Or does everyone have magical babies who love cribs? Flame away, but I really don't believe your babies are sleeping in their cribs quietly and peacefully. Just admit you CIO, seriously! And RNP does not count as a crib. Flame away, or share your secrets....cause I'm just not buying it.
We had to move out LO to his crib at 5 weeks, which broke my heart. He decided he hated his bassinet (which honestly, the pad is thinner and so may just be uncomfortable). He has never liked sleeping on an incline, hates his PNP, and just the last 3weeks or so, started to really enjoy his swing. He went from crying and waking up every 20 minutes/hour, to 2 hours the first night. He now sleeps on average 4 hours. I have the video monitor that I stare at and I come awake when he cries.
Does he fuss, at times? Yes, but, not for long or we scoop him up. He actually loves his nursery, it is quiet and warm and we play in there every day/nap some. Don't accuse me of CIO just because your child doesn't. I'm not out there pointing fingers at people letting their babies sleep in alternative methods where it is proven to be more dangerous or unsafe. Ie RnP, bed sharing, swings, etc. Every baby sleeps different, mine just happens to prefer his white noise to our snores.
My UO: I think the bible is overrated. (I was going to say crock of shit, but admittedly would have been going too far) It has some good lessons scattered throughout a whole bunch of outdated concepts.
Don't care, I totally believe your babies are CIO. Flame away, but with rare exception, I don't believe any of ya!
I don't know what annoys me more - this snark ass remark or your pretentious screen name - at least sooner's screen name isn't "married2pediatrician".
I can't stand any screen name in which a woman defines herself using her husband. Yuck.
AMEN! Yours does not bother me - you earned that shit! Don't ride your husbands coattails folks. Be your own person and do your own damn thing.
Steps off soap box.
If by riding on coat tails you mean raising 4 babies on my own and working to afford that tuition than yeah, I deserve his degree as much as he does. It does define my life- every day a struggle, barely seeing my husband, and taking cAre of everything on my own. I'm not a single mom, their struggles are great but it darn well feels like it. No one to help with the babies, I take care of his mother....he makes sacrifices but so do I, and so does anyone who is married to a man in this field...or the military, etc. The sn is my state of mind, and my state of being. You have to be one strong woman to stick by a pre-med, physician, military man, or any other career choice that requires that level of dedication.
Comparing a man/woman who risks his life everyday in the military, to a physician or a pre-med who spends all his time in class/hospital?
My UO: I think the bible is overrated. (I was going to say crock of shit, but admittedly would have been going too far) It has some good lessons scattered throughout a whole bunch of outdated concepts.
Oh and my sister played barbies with me then grew up and underwent a sex change. Hmmmm...
I don't understand how a religious text can be "overrated". Do you mean that it is taken out of context a lot? Or do you mean it shouldn't be incorporated as much into non religious conversations?
Oh and #marriedtoatruckdriver bitches!
Maybe overrated was the wrong word, I changed at the last minute because crock of shit really would have been offensive. I am not a fan of religion in general, so this is just one giant ass UO. Damning whole groups of people based off text from a book written thousands of years ago (when the Earth was still thought to be the center of the universe) is taking things a little far. If any person wants to live their life as a heterosexual because they believe that that is the correct thing to do then have at it. I am not attacking any person for that, but don't turn around with a holier than thou attitude throwing scripture in my face because you (general form) think it's a sin to be gay. There are a lot of things that can be taken out of the bible and used in real life passed off as following the word of God, slavery comes to mind, but as a society we have to grow and realize that those values are outdated.

Both my babies use/used their crib for naps and bedtime. They do/did coo, talk, blab, whine or cry when they're ready to get up. We don't/didn't ever let them cry for any length of time.
DD was known to play in her crib for an hour before calling us to come in there.
My UO - I cannot stand seeing people on Facebook who give their kids (or their ELF gives their kids) a present every freaking day in December. Seriously? Even if you do have the money to buy 25 extra gifts along with Christmas presents, what is that teaching your kid? I did not know this was a "thing" until my news feed was flooded with pictures this month. Kids don't need that much stuff!!!
Side-note: I DO like when people do a different activity with their child every day in December, like watch a Christmas movie or help mom bake cookies. Spending time with your kids > spending money on them.
We got things like coloring books and crayons, craft kits, books, etc. for 12 days leading up to Christmas. My dad bought a bunch of little things at the dollar store, wrapped everything and put numbers on them. Then each day, we each got to draw a number from a hat, and got the corresponding gift. It gave us a little activity to keep us busy, and it was fun and exciting. He enjoyed giving presents, and this was a way to spread that out a little bit further than one big day. I think if it's done right, it doesn't "teach" anything bad. It's just a fun family tradition. Now, if they're gifts that cost more than a couple dollars each, then I agree, that's excessive.
And the years that we did this, we didn't get a ton of gifts on Christmas day. We got one or two toys, some clothes, etc.

I think Phil Robertson had every right to say what he did. Freedom of speech and all that. What would we expect from a old timer southern Christian man?? He has the right to an opinion, and to express that opinion, just like everyone else.
Where in that comment did I mention his rights being violated? And I didn't even mention him getting fired for what he said. So....??????

Started him in his crib 3 nights ago no tears, stays asleep for 5 hours wakes up gets a bottle and sleeps for another 3. No secret. He was in a pack n play bassinet before and sometimes took an afternoon nap on me. Maybe I just caught him at the right time? Maybe 2 months is a magic age. He literally just went to bed DH and I were prepared for a hellish time and it just wasn't. I even had a huge Christmas party and he slept in his crib through that.
Also I am involved in my local gay community, worked at gay bars yada yada yada I dislike hateful speech of any kind but the gay stuff strikes a nerve with me.
Andalsoplus if my son ever asked me for a Barbie I would buy him one in a heartbeat.
I'm not big on religion, but I do believe in a higher power... I am agnostic.
I am, however, a big fan of our Constitution and first amendment rights... Say what you want to say, believe what you want.... But really, this Phil guy is in the entertainment business which means kissing ass to multiple crowds for a larger audience, so kudos to him for fucking that one up... Furthermore, kudos to A&E for standing their ground...
I don't care for Duck Dynasty.
I looooove Christmas lights! But I hate Christmas yard blow up decorations,
My daughter will play with whatever she wants - don't get too literal on that one... She won't be on a stripper pole or any other crazy sh!t, but she can definitely play with toy soldiers or tonka trucks, etc.
I think it's funny that people are suprised about Phil Robertson getting fired. Have we not learned anything from Paula Dean, or Mel Gibson... Or the Aflac voice guy? You want to keep your job in Hollywood, don't share your unpopular opinion. Also, I think he is an ignorant ass hat.

Color me amused. I love when things like [out-dated] undergraduate degree studies get lumped into the same category as getting shot at.
