I think Phil Robertson had every right to say what he did. Freedom of speech and all that. What would we expect from a old timer southern Christian man?? He has the right to an opinion, and to express that opinion, just like everyone else.
I agree 1000000000%. lately people make it seem like a crime if someone doesn't have the opinion that the public wants them to. I support what he said
There is a huge difference between supporting his right to free speech and supporting what he says. So you think homosexual behavior is akin to bestiality? You're an ignorant asshole.
Well I never said I agreed with him, just that he has the right to say whatever he wants.
None of my 4 babies have ever slept in a crib for more than 20 minutes. I personally don't know any mamas who have successfully used a crib for their babies. Even with tricks like the heating pad or a blankie that smells like mama......I think with rare exception, if you tell me your baby sleeps in a crib, I feel you must be practicing some form of CIO. How can your baby not be screaming their head off? Even if you go In there and comfort them every 5 minutes, they have to be screaming their little heads off. Or does everyone have magical babies who love cribs? Flame away, but I really don't believe your babies are sleeping in their cribs quietly and peacefully. Just admit you CIO, seriously! And RNP does not count as a crib. Flame away, or share your secrets....cause I'm just not buying it.
Are you drunk? My daughter slept in her crib perfectly fine, without crying, believe it or not, from about 4 months on. I don't know why this is so mind boggling for you.
I think it's more of a rant, nothing personal. At least that's how I took it. Because my baby isn't sttn and won't sleep long without me holding her, like wakes up within 5 minutes, I am baffled by LO's that will sleep in their cribs too! Share your secrets!

He did say that African Americans were happier during the Jim Crow laws. That is totally an ignorant asshole opinion.

No, nor so much that it's akin to bestiality, but when he says it's a sin and sinners do not get into heaven. Which is what I wrote

@married2premed, no CIO here but we are on baby #3 sleeping in her crib. She currently sleeps in a mini crib in our room. She doesn't sttn yet but she isn't even three months old yet.
My UO is that a part of me thinks we should boycott the Olympics because of Russia's policy on homosexuality.
I also love exchanging gifts with DH on Christmas. It is 1 of the 2 times a year we do presents for each other. The other occasion is our birthdays.
@married2PreMed sorry but first slept in a crip no problem. I don't think you know what your talking about. My second is sleeping the RnP but I have had him in the crib am she was fine as well.
Just because someone believes Phil shouldn't be fired, it doesn't mean they believe what he said. I don't agree with his statements, I believe anyone should be able to marry. But I also don't agree that he should be fired. I don't watch the show so I don't know how he is on the show.
Yay for A&E firing that ignorant ass. You are entitled to your opinion but when you are on a hot TV show and you say something dumb like that expect to get fired.
I think the Elf on the Shelf elves that do naughty things are completely pointless (although the whole this is but whatever.). Isn't the whole point that the elf is watching the kids, making sure they are behaving? So why is he TPing the living room
On boys and dolls, if Asher wants one he can have one. Would I buy him a Barbie? Nope. I don't let my daughters have barbies, my son won't have one either.
So my UO is that we don't do barbies and attempt to stay away from Disney princesses.

Dolls topic: Owen has a baby girl doll I got for him to prep for baby. It's so darn cute him doing stuff with it. If he wants a doll I'll buy him one. My brother played with my Barbies all the time. LOL wait....I would love O even if Barbies turned him gay just how they turned my awesome brother gay.

Ditto on the Barbie thing, although I admit DD loves Disney Princesses (I limit the toys though- she's got a small bin of the dolls/clothes and that's about it).
I always make a point to ensure that DD has a wide variety of toys, including toys that are traditionally for boys (Legos, trains, Hot Wheels, etc.) and try to stress to her that there are no such things as "girl toys" or "boy toys."
If we make such a big deal about making sure that girls are exposed to and playing with these types of toys that encourage engineering and logical reasoning skills, why wouldn't we want boys to be exposed to toys that would encourage nurturing skills? My brother had a Cabbage Patch doll growing up- he's now a great father to 3.

My nephew asked for dolls when he was younger. Whatever. He also had nerf guns.
I just think it's weird if parents push it on them. Was it on TB that there was an article a few months ago about the parents that refused to reveal their child's gender? The poor kid was 5. That's weird

Deft will buy O a Barbie over a gun. He can have the MOTHER FING DREAM HOUSE!!! Just sayin.

I think the whole elf on a shelf thing is dumb. When I was a kid, if I was an asshole, I didn't get shit apart from a grounding.
My UO - I cannot stand seeing people on Facebook who give their kids (or their ELF gives their kids) a present every freaking day in December. Seriously? Even if you do have the money to buy 25 extra gifts along with Christmas presents, what is that teaching your kid? I did not know this was a "thing" until my news feed was flooded with pictures this month. Kids don't need that much stuff!!!
Side-note: I DO like when people do a different activity with their child every day in December, like watch a Christmas movie or help mom bake cookies. Spending time with your kids > spending money on them.
I agree with this. The only thing I can see getting my kids is maybe a Christmas book once a week. But I do also love the idea of doing a craft or activity together each day. Spending time with family is what Christmas is about anyhow.

I'm not referring to 4 month old, last I checked, the majority of October babies are 2 months old. Maybe it's your rice in a cereal bottle technique that makes it work for you.
But seriously, yeah a rant....and cribs have never worked for us, and I've tried everything! Well except for the magical seahorse
I'm going to recycle what I posted last FFFC cuz I guess it's really a UO. Rainbow-colored icicle lights are annoying. Regular rainbow/multi-colored Christmas lights? Cool. White or white-blue icicle lights? Dandy. But colorful icicle lights? Not realistic. I've never seen a real-life rainbow icicle. White or white/blue is fine to me, more realistic if it's all white, but I'll give blue a pass too because it's cold-looking.

One of my friends does a book a day. WTAF? My kid doesn't even get 25 books a year. That's a shit ton of books.
We have an advent calendar that has doors for little toys so I get stuff from the Target dollar bin, lollipops and cheap jewelry for her. She loves it. I try to cap it at $15 for all the shit in there. We've been using it as incentive to take naps at DCP. it's been working so IDGAF.

I have no secrets lol. She has slept in there since day 1 with no problems at all. She is currently sleeping 7-6/7 has been for about 2 weeks but before that she woke once in the night. If she makes one peep we go in there. We also put her down somewhat drowsy, not sleeping. Maybe we just have an easy going baby? I have no idea, I am still amazed myself. I would never let her CIO.
This. Mine has slept in his crib since he was 2 weeks old. He sleeps swaddled and wakes 1-2 times a night. I just make sure he's completely asleep before I put him down. He's a pretty chill baby.
My UO: I think it's bitchy to assume someone is letting their child CIO just because they do something not ordinary for your child.

Yes, in fact, we have a magical baby. He also shits glitter.
I highly doubt that if I don't buy my son a Barbie doll he won't be a good father. He has a stuffed buzz light year that is his baby as well as a space ranger. He plays with the baby dolls at school same as he plays with kitchen area. In fact for his birthday he will hopefully be getting a play kitchen because he loves to help make meals and pretend to cook. My child will be well rounded even if he never had the glory of owning a Barbie doll.

That's not what he's said.
"Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men."
He is basically saying homosexuality is a "gateway sexual act" that leads to bestiality and promiscuity. That's just ignorant.
I, um -- well, whatever. I'm too exhausted.

Barbie doll =/= baby doll
And no one said you had to buy one. My DCP lets all the kids play with dolls and dress up, she has to hide that from some of the parents of boys. I think that's sad.
I like that graphic, and I think it points out that allowing boys to have nurturing toys is important. There are some shitty dads (even right here on this board) and maybe if we encouraged boys to take care of things (not even dolls, maybe animals?) they'd be less clueless when it comes time to having their own babies.
