I think it's more of a rant, nothing personal. At least that's how I took it. Because my baby isn't sttn and won't sleep long without me holding her, like wakes up within 5 minutes, I am baffled by LO's that will sleep in their cribs too! Share your secrets!

@married2premed, no CIO here but we are on baby #3 sleeping in her crib. She currently sleeps in a mini crib in our room. She doesn't sttn yet but she isn't even three months old yet.

My UO is that a part of me thinks we should boycott the Olympics because of Russia's policy on homosexuality.

I also love exchanging gifts with DH on Christmas. It is 1 of the 2 times a year we do presents for each other. The other occasion is our birthdays.

@married2PreMed sorry but first slept in a crip no problem. I don't think you know what your talking about. My second is sleeping the RnP but I have had him in the crib am she was fine as well.

Just because someone believes Phil shouldn't be fired, it doesn't mean they believe what he said. I don't agree with his statements, I believe anyone should be able to marry. But I also don't agree that he should be fired. I don't watch the show so I don't know how he is on the show.

I think the Elf on the Shelf elves that do naughty things are completely pointless (although the whole this is but whatever.). Isn't the whole point that the elf is watching the kids, making sure they are behaving? So why is he TPing the living room

Dolls topic: Owen has a baby girl doll I got for him to prep for baby. It's so darn cute him doing stuff with it. If he wants a doll I'll buy him one. My brother played with my Barbies all the time. LOL wait....I would love O even if Barbies turned him gay just how they turned my awesome brother gay.

Ditto on the Barbie thing, although I admit DD loves Disney Princesses (I limit the toys though- she's got a small bin of the dolls/clothes and that's about it).

I always make a point to ensure that DD has a wide variety of toys, including toys that are traditionally for boys (Legos, trains, Hot Wheels, etc.) and try to stress to her  that there are no such things as "girl toys" or "boy toys."  

If we make such a big deal about making sure that girls are exposed to and playing with these types of toys that encourage engineering and logical reasoning skills, why wouldn't we want boys to be exposed to toys that would encourage nurturing skills?   My brother had a Cabbage Patch doll growing up- he's now a great father to 3.

My nephew asked for dolls when he was younger. Whatever. He also had nerf guns.

I just think it's weird if parents push it on them. Was it on TB that there was an article a few months ago about the parents that refused to reveal their child's gender? The poor kid was 5. That's weird

I agree with this. The only thing I can see getting my kids is maybe a Christmas book once a week. But I do also love the idea of doing a craft or activity together each day. Spending time with family is what Christmas is about anyhow.

I'm not referring to 4 month old, last I checked, the majority of October babies are 2 months old. Maybe it's your rice in a cereal bottle technique that makes it work for you.

One of my friends does a book a day. WTAF? My kid doesn't even get 25 books a year. That's a shit ton of books.

We have an advent calendar that has doors for little toys so I get stuff from the Target dollar bin, lollipops and cheap jewelry for her. She loves it. I try to cap it at $15 for all the shit in there. We've been using it as incentive to take naps at DCP. it's been working so IDGAF.

I have no secrets lol. She has slept in there since day 1 with no problems at all. She is currently sleeping 7-6/7 has been for about 2 weeks but before that she woke once in the night. If she makes one peep we go in there. We also put her down somewhat drowsy, not sleeping. Maybe we just have an easy going baby? I have no idea, I am still amazed myself. I would never let her CIO.

This. Mine has slept in his crib since he was 2 weeks old. He sleeps swaddled and wakes 1-2 times a night. I just make sure he's completely asleep before I put him down. He's a pretty chill baby.

My UO: I think it's bitchy to assume someone is letting their child CIO just because they do something not ordinary for your child.

That's not what he's said.

And no one said you had to buy one. My DCP lets all the kids play with dolls and dress up, she has to hide that from some of the parents of boys. I think that's sad.

 I like that graphic, and I think it points out that allowing boys to have nurturing toys is important. There are some shitty dads (even right here on this board) and maybe if we encouraged boys to take care of things (not even dolls, maybe animals?) they'd be less clueless when it comes time to having their own babies.
