Very important question about cheese

We've had a lot of cheese questions lately and I'm food-obsessed. Give me your top three cheeses in order of deliciousness. Please feel free to provide detailed descriptions of your favorite way to nom it. I apologize in advance if your electronic devices end up covered in drool.

  • I was expecting another ''is this safe'' question. This is much more fun :)
    Extra sharp cheddar
Mozzarella usually with tomato, basil and tons of balsamic vinegar- yum!
    Pepper jack
Not very exciting in the way of specialty cheeses, but still tasty.
  • I don't even know, I just love cheese! I love brie with some fresh crusty bread and veggies. I love a good smoked Gouda in a sandwich. I love the bite of cheddar. I love the tang of feta in a spinach salad with berries, but also how sweet it can get when roasted on fish or a pizza...and there's the drool all over my keyboard.

  • I love cheese! I think I could stuff or melt mozzarella on anything, muenster is good with baguette, and Colby jack in any form :) boring but those are probably my top 3. And if Velveeta counts it's definitely up there on the list cause who doesn't love Velveeta. ;)
  • 1)  Piave Vecchio cheese - slice it up and eat it with my wine (when not pregnant) or just by itself now.

    2) Goat cheese in my salad.  I love the way it coats my greens when I mix it all in with balsamic dressing.

    3)  Extra sharp cheddar.  Sliced either with soppressata or by itself.

There's really no cheese that I don't like though.  There are tons of soft cheeses that you can spread on good Italian bread with some marmelade...delicious snack.

  • 1) Extra sharp cheddar - with OR without crackers. I can easily come close to eating a block myself in one sitting.
    2) Provolone, specifically when we're talking what to put on a sandwich
    3) And I'm lumping all of the holiday cheeses into one choice (by that I mean ones that can be found on the cheese block at our family get-togethers during the holidays). This includes baked brie, a cranberry gorganzola that we always get, gouda...

I mean really, I pretty much love all the cheese.

  • Fresh Ricotta, plain, spread on Italian bread and/or with berries, figs, and honey
Chevre with Spicy Jam and water crackers
Gruyere to snack on, with crackers, or in mac and cheese.

But really, I love all the cheese, all the ways.

Extra bonus points to anyone who has actually heard of any of these cheeses!

  • My preferences are different when not pregnant but here's the current list:
    1) Cracker Barrel extra sharp cheddar cracker slices. Don't even think about substituting brands, this baby demands CB. Eaten by itself, with a couple of clementine wedges as a secondary addon. We call this the Orange Special if I decide to throw on a bag of baked Cheetos for a well rounded meal.
    2) Velveeta or other melty American/cheddar like substance. Eaten on anything, with anything, but especially a favorite in Mac and cheese or cheese enchiladas.
    3) There is no three. Other cheeses are acceptable but nowhere near as awesome as 1&2.

When not pregnant things like Jarlesburg, Brie, Gouda, and a huge variety of deliciousness would appear. Baby only wants orange cheeses though.

    1) Danish Harvarti- on top of a roll with pepper jelly
    2) Sharp Vermont White Cheddar with grapes or on crackers
    3) Triple Cream Wedge of cheese on crusty french baguette
  • Feta: in big chunks on a Greek salad, Asiago: baked into bread, Fresh Mozz: in a salad or sandwich with tomatoes, basil, and good balsamic.

  • Goat cheese: crumbled in salads, spread on sandwiches in place of condiments, breaded and deep fried. So good.
Brie: on a cracker, baked with apples and cranberry, on a veggie burger. Really I'll eat it anyway it's served.
    Cheddar.

Hold the feta and gorgonzola, though.

  • Brie - baked or not I don't care!

    Cheddar makes it better!

    Queso dip. By the gallon.
  • Um, three is not enough. But I love mozzarella, provolone, chedder, and land I lake and boars head American only. Then there's so many more like goat, and yum. I don't like feta, unfortunately.
    image

  • What the heck is huntsman?! I want it now!
  • Manchego - if you haven't tried it, you haven't lived. Drizzle it with honey and you'll know what I mean. Boursin - stuffed in a chicken breast, or spread on crackers. Either way, it's heaven. Blue cheese - on anything, served any way, but combined with hot sauce & fried calamari *drool* All that said, I've NEVER met a cheese I didn't like :)
OMG I forgot about Boursin. For all your meat-eaters like me, you haven't lived until you've put Boursin on a burger. Holy shiite.

How can anyone choose just three?  I want ALL THE CHEESES!

    Parmigiano Reggiano
    Goat Cheese
    Buffalo Mozzarella
    Manchego
    Iberico
    Zamorano
    Extra Sharp Cheddar
    Port Salut
    Camembert or Brie
    Petit Basque
    Provolone Picante (Sharp)
    Havarti
    Gouda

Seriously, EVERYTHING!  (Except American or Velveeta, because they're not cheese)

Edited because I forgot feta.  WTF is wrong with me?

  • I love all the cheese. Favorite 3:

    1. Extra sharp cheddar - by itself, on a sandwich, in my belly!

    2. Gorgonzola - in salad om nom nom

    3. Gruyere - on top of french onion soup, on crackers, really any way. So freaking good.

  • 1. Colby Jack on anything...
    2. Gouda-especially grilled with tomato and avocado on 7 grain bread
    3. Queso

I love all cheese and rarely do my meals not have any cheese involved!

  • Mmmm... Cheese!

    1. Havarti with the pepadew peppers
I like to eat it by itself or make spicy grilled cheese and avocado sandwiches

    2. Saint Angel Triple Creme Brie
My absolute favorite! I eat it with apricot and almond crisps or with sour cherry on top and crackers.

    3. Bufala Baked Lemon Ricotta.
It tastes like lemon cheesecake and is made from French buffala milk which is supposedly healthier than cow milk :)

    4. Humboldt Fog goat cheese
It's soft, layered and has a vegetable ash center that gives it a great tangy citrus taste

  • I can't not answer this with all the drool happening now. 1) Parmesan- fresh, peeled slices on top of a Greek salad 2) feta cheese in anything! 3) sharp white cheddar- especially in a soup of some kind. Mmmm I would maybe also include cheese fondue made with Gruyere and ementahler cheese
  • Port Salut on Triscuits. I don't know why but that's my jam.

Dubliner aged white cheddar on grilled cheese with red pepper.

Sharp cheddar & Granny Smith apples
  • I love sharp cheddars, pretty much all of them. My favorite is Seaside Cheddar from Whole Foods. It's an aged white English cheddar that's crumbly and salty and nutty and has a flavor profile similar to parmesan. I eat it plain or on sesame melba toast.

Provolone on sandwiches, brie on baguette, blue cheese on salads.

Also- whole foods sells this soft cheese that is somewhat crumbly on the outside and creamy on the inside. There's a layer of ash... sounds weird but it's delicious. If i was at whole foods I would choose that over brie. Yum. Might be going to whole foods tomorrow. ..

Forgot to name it- Humboldt fog. And read that someone else loves it too.
  • Brie
String cheese-because it saves my ass from having low blood sugar, even though I'm sooo tired of it.
Mozzarella or tellegio (sp?). I love my soft cheeses!

  • 1)  Whole Foods has this balsamic glazed kind of hard cheese that is AMAZING with some fig spread on a cracker.

    2) Brie baked in puff pastry with some kind of preserves inside

    3) Asiago - either sliced or baked into a bagel

Really?  Only three?  I love most cheeses most ways.  Mmmmmmmm..........cheese
