Re: UO

  • My UO- I think it is shortsighted to put your kids' photos online for the world to see. Many of you will disagree, obvi, but I don't want my children to find photos of them unexpectedly someday and wonder wtf I was thinking. I think it's unfair to them. I mean, we don't know what future media technologies will be developed and how what we share now can be misused later.

Don't hate, I wish I could be more comfortable with it, especially when we're all sharing pics of cute babies, I wanna play too!!

Why would they care if they found pictures of themselves?
Maybe they won't. But maybe they will, their decision, not mine.

Dd1 is 5 and recently my niece showed her a Facebook photo of the two of them. Dd1 was kinda weirded out and wondered who all would see her online. She wanted to know who all my Facebook friends are so she knew who saw photos of her.

Yeah, your kid is weird. Seriously.

Yeah it's totally weird for a kid to appreciate privacy. I

  • I couldn't eat bacon while pregnant. It was my number one food aversion. I can eat it now, but not on weird shit like ice cream. And I'm not obsessed with it.

I am not a cat person. We have 4, but they don't have named. They live here to kill mice and eat dog food when they aren't doing their job. Assholes. I'm not mean to them and I do talk to them, but they are scared of us (feral) The white kitty comes close to us.

My UO: I LOVED being pregnant. My pregnancy was a breeze and I only slightly became uncomfortable sleeping toward the end. My sex drive was through the roof, my hormones were balanced for the first time in my life and I only gained 7 pounds. I'll never be pregnant again.

I struggle to stay awake for New Year's Eve. I wake up hub every year at 11:59 to kiss and then he goes back to sleep and I sleep at about 12:05.

I have uggs. I know they're not pretty but they are definitely functional with my leggings. They make my butt look fantastic.

I only watch my local nfl team and only if I have no other plans. Same with h. We're totally bandwagon fans.

Agree--no degree = no affiliation for college teams. But I definitely play march madness brackets. I pick the cuter mascot. I won 100 bucks a few years ago.

I hate couples on FB. I post anniversaries (twice a year-wedding and dating). And I might do a sappy birthday post, but they are almost always sarcastic--that makes it okay? Right? (Happy birthday to my favorite husband so far...)

I post pics of my kids on FB, but I space it out. Try to keep 1.5 week or so in between so people don't get tired of them.

Sahm is way harder than working.

I had a fancy expensive wedding that cost more than some peoples annual salaries, even with soooooo much DIY and other cost savings.... I don't regret it. Sometimes I wish I went bigger. Go big or go home.

I love cruising. The ports are lame, but the boat is fun and relaxing. I love playing shuffleboard on the deck and taking tango lessons with the elderly.

I seriously hide annoying couples on FB. The ones who always take selfies together and on a daily basis write on each other's FB walls about how lucky they are and how much they love each other. You know how I tell my hubby I love him, I look at him and tell him. Of course the exceptions to this rule is the couples who are apart, for extended periods of time. But not every day people.

Also most reality TV is trash unless you have to make or create something like Project Runway or Face Off. I even hate all these singing shows, but the Sing Off is Aca-Awesome.

Sorry for any typos. I am running off like 2 hrs of sleep.

I also loathe the couples on Facebook who share a page. As in, JaneandJoe Schmo. Ugh.

Ha ha my parents do. They're old, give them a break!

I stand by my statement. I think it is beyond paranoid for a 5 year old to be worried about what people are seeing her face. Does she wear a bag over her head in public?

It's not like these were naked pictures... I am assuming.
Yeah, it seems kind of odd to me too. Doesn't seem like a normal reaction of a 5 yo, they are categorical AW's. Which has nothing to do with society's narcissism, it's just where they are at in their psychological development, they think the world revolves around them.
This, my dd loves to look at pictures of her online. Whenever she has the ipad, that is the first thing she does.

I disagree with the needing a degree from the college in which you are a fan. I've lived in the same city all my life (didn't go there for college) and have rooted for them ever since I can remember.

    Go Cards!

Me too. I grew up in Columbus, OH and have always cheered for the Buckeyes. Some of my favorite childhood memories are from football and basketball games.

  • I was 21 when I got married. My wedding cost $5,000, not including my dress. My dress cost $400. So, $5,400 all together I guess. It was absolutely perfect in every way. My mom and I worked really hard to make a lot of the stuff, well to be honest mostly my mom. I honestly do not regret a thing.

I have nothing against people who spend a ton of money, as long as they are not going into debt and as long as actually wanting to spend their life with someone is still more important than a $15,000 wedding dress.

Since I loved my wedding so much... here are a couple of pictures. See, it doesn't look lame and homemade, does it?

Love it. I was 20 when I got married, my wedding cost about the same. My dad is a pastor, so we didn't have to pay for the church or reception hall.

Me either. How horrible is that? I had tickets to one and was going to go with a couple of friends a few years ago and then I got a HORRIBLE stomach bug the day before and couldn't go. It sucked. So, hopefully I can go soon. MH's family goes all the time to the football games and hockey games. My niece, who has down syndrome, is friends with Chris Borland, after he visited her special ed class a couple years ago. He gets her tickets all the time, but for some reason we are either not invited, or not able to go. Jealous!

  • My five year old doesn't always want her pictures online. Sometimes I'll want a picture of a cute moment and she won't be in the mood and will ask me to "not send it to Facebook." I do anyway, because I'm a horrible mom, but my Facebook is locked down HARD even for people I'm friends with, who are 80% family and the few close friends I have and talk to regularly. It's not weird. Some kids are self conscious. I hate it when people post pictures of me online I don't know about...why can't she? A lot of the time she wants me to post videos and pictures because she is an attention whore, but she has her days she wants privacy.

@23melissa28 I've totally seen you hashtag it up on Instagram! ;)

Yup. And I hate it. I have a serious love hate relationship with Instagram for that reason.

....you don't have to use hashtags on Instagram. Or twitter. It's optional. I only do for family Instagram challenges like we're doing this month where we post all of out Christmas photos in one place.

    #becausethatswhattheyresupposedtobeusedfor

I do love laughing at people who can't use them right. #its #not #rocket #science. And yes I have people who do that on my Facebook.

Of course she doesn't wear a bag over her face and if course these weren't naked pictures. If you remember my original UO, it's that I think people are shortsighted for posting photos of their children online. Agree to disagree?

My UO never said "cheer for"! I don't care who you cheer for, I'm talking about the rabid trash talkers that didn't even go to the school. I stand by that. If you see me in a school hoodie and say "that team sucks! We are going to kick your ass this year!" and you didn't even go to the rival school that is douchey.
That seems pretty douchey no matter what school you went to.

  • I have another that I'm sure many of you will disagree with but here it goes: I think spending a ton of money on a wedding is ridiculous! Personally I'd rather spend that money on an awesome honeymoon, car, house ...etc. And people always say well its the best day of your life, well yeah it will be regardless because your marrying your best friend not because you have all these fancy overpriced things. Of course is you have money to blow then blow away.

Couldn't agree more! I got married in the backyard, had 25 people there (just family), and we spent $350 on a taco truck to roll in and make food for everyone. Coronas and Pacificos in a bucket. Everyone had a blast, and it was exactly what we wanted. Plus we put a bunch of money toward hubby's masters degree

  • Uggs-love them, I have one pair and a couple pairs of emus, but the company I work for owns a brand of shoes so I can't justify buying them anymore when I get shoes, boots etc for like $10-$30. My uggs are like 8 years old.

Wedding-my wedding, including honeymoon, cost 20k, but we went all out (extended cocktail hour, wedding planner, up lighting, photobooth 5 course dinner, candy buffet with like 30 different candies etc. we also got married on a Friday in March so it was a trade off and so it was cheap for what we got.

I know nothing about college football.

My uo is I hate sequels. The first movie is usually always the best and the rest are disappointments.

What do FSU fans and UM fans have in common? Neither of them went to UM.

I really dislike college bandwagon fans. My hubby's friend is jumping on the FSU one and I want to tell him to suck it. Bc I had to listen to him for years talk about how much we suck.

heyhey now..I went to The U!

yes...I'm so with you on that!

  • Not a Nazi. And that's a pretty harsh comparison... I know it's a joke, but it's definitely not funny
  • I agree about the wedding stuff. If you can afford it great, but don't go into debt over it!! We did Vegas, at Caesar's. Cost about 5k courtesy of my parents. If you couldn't afford to fly there and get your own hotel, it was just one less person we had to buy dinner for at our reception!

My UO: it has been mentioned before, but please don't hate me, I HATE cats! Such useless little creatures.
