My Meema lived in Heidelberg (sp?) during the Holocaust. She very rarely talked about it. I only remember her talking about the Nazi's coming to her door to search for any Jewish families that might be hiding there.

On a sidenote, anyone ever been to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC? Life changing!!!!

Yes! It's an incredible experience! There's a really good one in Evanston, IL (Chicago suburb) as well. The school I work at takes students there a couple times each semester.

I think the whole 'I give no fucks' phrase is WAY overdone, esp on this board.

Another one- I think some 'popular' ladies post totally flame worthy things but don't get flamed because they are part of the cool kids clique, and everyone else knows the posse will jump all over them if they bother to make the call out.

I think those trendy moccasin slippers look super comfortable and super ugly and should deft not be worn in public.

Also- I'm fine with leggings as pants as long as your top covers most of your butt.

Re: cruises - It's like being on an airplane for days while you only spend hours at your destination. This may have to do with ship size and the number of other passengers, but I'm in no hurry to test that theory.

I think some pregnancy and parenting guidelines are overkill and should not replace common sense. Example: should you park your kid in front of a tv all day? Of course not. If they watch a cartoon or episode of Sesame Street before age 2, I am pretty sure they will be just fine.

Wow, late to the game and trying to read all those pound posts made me #crosseyed.

@quartermisses- We went to Edinburgh for our BC (before children) trip in 2007- it was incredible and I can't wait to get back to Scotland.  I would really like to take a European river cruise though.  I can't stand the Caribbean ones, but that's mostly because I hate the beach and the recent stories about stomach flus spreading on Carnival cruises just cemented my opinion.

I love my Uggs, but I wear them for warmth and comfort, not style.  My MIL just bought a pair for my daughter, which I was initially against because her feet grow so quickly but she really wanted to and was OK with dropping $150 on them.  I try to have her wear them as much as possible so my MIL gets her money's worth before DD grows out of them.

Not a cat fan (and we have had mice in our house- trap baited with peanut butter work just as well).  Dogs FTW!

My father offered us $15K if we eloped, but my mother was the one that pushed him pay for a wedding- "You're not denying me the chance to be the mother of the bride!"  I was on my dad's side for a bit, but DH realized that 5 years later I would have wished I'd had a big wedding.  Looking back, I realized that he was right and our wedding was a lot of fun.  It was like a family reunion and people came that we haven't seen in years.

My UO, spinning off the bandwagon thing.  I hate hate hate that some people's only opinion about Philly sports and their fans is that "they threw snowballs at Santa Claus!"  Do some research first, please!  In recent years, San Francisco has had some horrible incidents at 49er's and Giants games, but the national media loves to pick on Philly.

Ahh!  I'm super jealous.  My dad's side of the family is from Scottish descent so I've always felt this weird connection with the country.  DH initially wanted to go to London, but I pushed for Edinburgh and now he can't wait to get back there either and tour the Highlands.
