I just have to get this out. The division manager had a meeting yesterday advising us that they will be transfering our office to our corporate office the 3rd week of March 2014. I will be out on Maternity Leave at this point so I will not be affected until the end of June when I return. But when I return I will driving 50 miles further than I am now on a freeway that is known in Southern California to be a dead stop toilet! I will have to plan on being in 2 hour traffic to get there and 2 hour traffic to get home every day. So I went to my direct supervisor and asked what our options are. Can I work from home, are they offering severence packages for those who choose not to go.... Both answers were no. They are not considering this a relocation just a office change. So they dont have to offer severence packages. Even though they are expecting us to now drive in major traffic let alone the increase in gas... I am so pissed! We work our asses off for this company and they can give a shit less about us. I am so mad right now! I wont be coming back but you can bet your ass I will tell them that I am and then call them the morning I am supposed to return and tell them to go to hell! I just cant beleive how they are treating us.... it blows my mind. From my department there is only 1 person that plans on going, so I dont think my direct supervisor will get to continue in her cushy position if she has no employees to manage... Ugh I am pissed!
Sorry fo rthe foul language and the long post. I just needed to vent!

Re: Job Relocation Drama
MissWhis RIGHT! We are all so upset. I am currently 13 minutes from our office. No traffic... I have been with the company for 6 years and have always been dependable and hard working. I always have great reviews... I just dont understand how they can just basically say good ridence if you dont choose to relocate. And this is a HUGE well known nationwide company! It blows my mind!

Our company doesnt pay maternity leave pay. It is short term disability then FMLA. So I wouldnt pay them back anything. And yes I am not saying a word to anyone about my plan. I am just so frustrated and the hormones are getting the best of my anger...
I will check though about unemployement. I thought you had to be laid off in order to collect. I will see what their policy is regarding relocation.

2 hours each way sucks but I did it for nearly 3 years. If you need the job and the money commute times can be lousy. any way you could take the train or something and work or read while you commute? my company was deciding between closing our 10 floor high rise and moving all of us in the building an hour away but the outcry was so severe that they decided to move one of the smaller offices to us and perform major renovations on our building to make it work. I lucked out because I already commute an hour to this job and a 2 hour commute each way...again....would have made me miserable.

then again, you know the feeling at this point. Enjoy collecting that leave pay with no guilt! They screw you like that what do they expect?
ksulli that would push me over the edge! Im sorry you guys had to go through that... Its so hard to justify the way these companies treat their employees. AT this point I will no longer go above and beyond for this job... I will work as much as I feel taken care of by them... what a waste of 6 years...
So I guess I will bumping a lot more during the day ;-) LOL
