On Friday we are getting family portraits done. Should we dress like it's Christmas (since we will use one of the pics for holiday cards) or dress jeans/regular clothes?
I always just choose a color theme. We have done yellow and grey, brown and orange, red and brown, this year is red and cream with grey. Old navy is the best place to get coordinating color for the entire family
I have always been able to find a Christmas card design in our color theme. Either shutterfly or etsy etc.
We are doing some individual ones of LO which will be more Christmassy. But for our family ones we'll all be in jeans with DH and LO in plaid (fun plaid not scary plaid) and I am wearing a dark blue sweater.
would it be weird having us all in normal casual clothes, but G in a frilly xmas dress? Or I guess we could change her half way too so we get a mix? Thanks for some color scheme ideas too!
We're getting pictures tomorrow. E is wearing a red sweater w/ a fair isle print from Carter's and jeans, I'm wearing a button up and dark jeans, and DH is wearing a sweater and dark jeans. They're "winter-y" clothes I guess?

I like these ideas. I'm not sure what we will do. DH said no when I asked if we can match. lol... Grump! I'll get something cute for her and go from there with my outfit.
My friend just got pictures done and they did a black and red theme, its Christmas-ish and can look like normal clothes too when not in a christmas setting.
I've never been a fan of the photos where the entire family is matchy-matchy. I'd have everyone wear their nice, dressier clothes. My ILs want us to do a holiday picture with them this year & want us all to get matching sweaters. I'm horrified because this is all I can picture in my mind:
I think if you plan on displaying them then you prob just want something neutral - if u want a Christmas photo maybe bring an outfit change for little one and take a few single shots to include in a card
I didn't think I'd be able to pull it together for all three of us. We just took photos of LO in a mess of Christmas lights. They turned out pretty adorable!
We went with fall colors- I wore a navy sweater, dark skinny jeans, and tall brown boots, H wore jeans, brown sweater, and blue plaid shirt under. Baby wore white long sleeve polo, cords, and I had a red fleece vest for him to wear in some pics. You want to coordinate, not match.
We ordered our cards through mpix. They had really cute designs and reasonable prices. I liked using a site that not everyone else uses. We are also going to order our pictures through mpix. They turn out looking very professional.
I forgot to add that I had H pick his clothes first, and went from there. It was much easier that way. We chose more neutral colors that fit the decor of our house, because I want one of those larger canvas pictures.
Ok I'm bringing this one back! We finished our card finally!!! Here it is! Merry Christmas 2013
Nooooo way. This is glorious =D>
Thank you!!! It came together well I thought :P. Lots of makeup. And I haven't seen my husband without facial hair in years! Hahah! We were walking around the house cracking up! I was afraid JT wouldn't know who we were and freak out!

I would not dress in a holiday theme. That way you can still put the pics up at your house and they look normal the rest of the year. We had some done two weeks ago that we used for our holiday card, and we just all dresses in blues/greens and jeans. This is the pic we used:
We took our Xmas card photos today. (Nothing fancy, just a target portrait studio trip...meh). I did a red and gray theme. I was in a red top and so was DS1, DH and DS2 were in gray and everyone was in dark wash jeans. They turned out really well for just a discount store studio.
And 5 minutes before we left DS2 spit up all over his outfit...
So DS2 is wearing a greenish and navy outfit. . BAH!
And this is why I opted for cheap holiday photos...Murphy's law. And I'm still paying off some delivery medical bills.
I'm excited for DS2' 6 month photos with our "real photographer" most of those are nakkie baby photos or just a white onesie so he can spit up all over those and I have plenty more!
@julianndelaney haha I had to go back and look at the brows!! I seriously love this I can't believe he agreed to it and then sending to people. awesome!

I saw this idea - so cute! Did you use regular Xmas lights?
I still feel like I look too gross to do family pictures for Christmas cards.. so I just took a photo of our LO in an elf costume for the cards (they just arrived yesterday and look awesome!)
Yeah, I look too gross this year to do family portraits. We didn't have time to get LO's pictures done for 3 months either. So, I am taking a nice photo we took of him at the hospital and a recent photo of him on an activity mat and creating a photo card on CVS's website. I am picking them up there. It turned out really well.
