We call the baby a "her". I think it's another girl. My husband has been calling it "they" but it weirds me out because it sounds like we're having twins. It'll be nice to finally say he or she after our a/s on Tuesday!
We called DS "Todd". My sisters used to have a boy Polly pocket when they were littler and they called him "Todd...first name Todd last name Ler" so now whenever my family refers to little kids they always say "the todds" or just Todd. Like toddler I guess? Sounds way bizarre now that I'm trying to explain it haha.
People would get so confused when I was like "and when Todd gets here..." Or "Todd's having a dance party" they'd be like aww is that the name? *cue long awkward explanation*
Sometimes I say they because I also don't like calling the baby it. I also say the baby or the mini because we always called DD the mini DH's name because I was sure she'd be just like DH, she is, and so this one is another mini.
Until we knew the gender we used Sock. If anyone watches How I Met Your Mother than you know Lilly's whole thing about seeing a baby's sock and knowing she was ready for kids. So everything cute that made us want kids we'd just say sock. Then the baby became sock. Or leech... meant in a good way of course. My stepdad calls him Flipper even know when we know the sex.
Ours is Poppy.... Mainly because it was once the size of a poppy seed. Now we're at navel orange- my how they grow up so fast!
ETA it's awkward when people think we have nicknamed it "papi".
I rarely use "it". Between H and I we seem to use "he" a lot even though we don't know what "it" is. We use "bean" often and I also say "kid". Like, "this kid was kicking all day today". I feel weird saying "baby"... Don't know why. Maybe that's too real for me still. Haha
We call the baby peanut. We even have my family calling the baby peanut:) we are trying to be team green so it's easier just to say peanut since we are not finding out the gender.
I caught DH saying "he" this morning and I told him he's going to have to come up with something since he's finding out the sex but I'm not. He said he was sticking with "he" either way.
I say it quite often, though I like the nickname idea. We do call him or her piglet once in a while, maybe I should try using that more as sometimes I feel bad for saying it so much?
I know we're having a boy and I still sometimes call him It.

I was doing the same with DD1 and we weren't finding out the gender either. I felt so bad, I decided to find a fetus name. We ended up calling the baby K1 and now we call the baby K2. We aren't super affectionate, so we felt weird picking very cute names. We thought something more funny fit in with the family better.
We've referred to baby as "they", "the baby", "velociraptor".
Our announcement was, "We are expecting a baby. Or velociraptor. One or the other." And now everyone refers to our new dinosaur. We do say he a lot, though.
