Who's ready (or dreading) the first snow storm of the season that's rolling in tomorrow!? I'm pretty excited I love the snow. I'm gonna lay in my PJs and stare at it...and occasionally go roll in it...
Usually I embrace snow in December. Who doesn't love a white Christmas season?? But tomorrow I'm flying to Dallas, so I could do without the storm right now.

It completely missed us in Iowa. Apparently the next one is going to go south of us. Is it bad I'm really hankering for a good snow storm? Not during holiday travel days, but soon would be nice. I love the winter.
I'm in Minnesota too, the snow is so pretty. DH worked from home and I didn't bother going out either. It's not the snow that scares me, it's the other drivers!
Edit: words are hard at night

Pahaha! Exactly..they're fine one second and the next:
I haven't checked the weather but I'd really like to make it home to Chicago from my business trip in Columbus/Cincinnati so... I'm wary? But I do love snow usually!
When are you headed back? I think most of Indiana should be clear tomorrow but Friday not so much.
It's not going to snow here (IA), just be cold and miserable. I'm a little bit jealous - if it's going to be miserable we might as well have snow to make it look pretty!

Hmm... Maybe I should have had DH watch the news for me (I hate the news and refuse to watch it). I had no idea anything was coming. Not that it matters for me... as posted in a previous thread, I envy all the peeps who actually get to work from home on snow days. My slave driving bosses don't even let us leave early when level 3's are being threatened.

We're just going to get the edge of it here, so maybe an inch or two and not until Sunday. I hate the dang stuff, I won't go outside until all the walks are shoveled and my car is cleaned off. My son lives in northern WI and they had quite a bit, but he loves it and is thrilled. I think the only thing snow is good for is to cover up all the ugly dead stuff outside and one good sledding day.
I don't think we are getting any of this in Ohio. Woke up this morning and its 62 degrees....don't get me wrong, I love the warm and hate the cold, but it'd be nice to have some normal weather for once!
We're only supposed to get 1-3 inches here in Ohio on Friday. But this whole thread makes me realize thati have no idea why Ohio is considered part of the Midwest.
I have never understood that either lol. I dunno about you but I feel like they never get the forecast right so I'm not getting my hopes up!
SE Indiana here... Not looking forward to the snow considering I still have to go to work tomorrow no matter how bad it is. This will be my 1st winter withOUT a 4x4 car and I'm not at all thrilled. I'm sure tomorrow morning during my 35 minute commute (which will likely take much longer), I will be screaming "WHY DID I FEEL THE NEED TO BUY A GAS SAVING CAR AND GIVE UP MY JEEP?!?!"
Nothing up here in SE Wisconsin...just bitter cold. Also, why is Wisconsin the Midwest? I grew up in SW Indiana, and would have considered Wisconsin and Minnesota 'the North'. My Minnesotan husband and Wisconsin neighbors beg to differ.

Snowing like crazy here! Already getting into the -20s due to windchill. Hoping we make it safely on our trip this weekend! I would hate to be stranded in negative temperatures.
I'm kind of looking forward to it! It will be cold working outside on the house this weekend, but I love snow and even ice if I don't have to drive in it. I'm going to just relax today and go through paperwork and drink hot drinks
I'll readily admit that I'm a bit of a freak for liking snow. I always look forward to it (especially before Christmas) but I am usually cursing it by March when I'm ready for spring to get on it's way here. I have a short seasonal attention span.
I'm in Kansas City, so kind of the Midwest and kind of the South. We have an identity crisis. However, the snow storm yesterday just missed us from the north, and the ice/snow storm today is just missing us from the south. So a good place to be I guess considering they have no idea how to clean out the snow here.
Being that I'm originally from MN, I'm kinda missing the snow. And I agree with @Peledreamsofrain, this is way late for the first snow. Did the Halloween Blizzard of '92 hit you guys over in SD? A Halloween without having to put your costume over your snowpants is not a Northern Halloween at all...

Omg yes! I used to get SO upset when I was little, because my costume would never show.
I lived there until '95 or '96 (can't remember off of the top of my head). It was the worst winter on record, and all of the tops of the trees in our shelter belt were stripped by deer desperate for food that wasn't buried under 6 ft of snow.
Now that I've moved, I still get a giggle out of explaining to people what a shelter belt is. I always get big googly eyes for explaining that wind was so bad that people planted trees to protect their homes.
I don't think it's supposed to snow until Sunday-ish here (Nebraska). It is freaking cold though. I hate winter... I am going to go brave the windchill of -8 to go find an outfit for my husband's work holiday party.

Wyoming sits right in the middle of the Rockies. Where my town is located is in SW Wyoming which is the only desert part of the state. We have the tetons to the North of us and if you drive just 40 miles north shit gets real with the windriver mountain range.
We deal with driving on shitty icy mountain roads 8 months out of the year, and no I don't hate the snow.
Oh I'm not brave! I never said I enjoy driving in the snow lol! I grew up here, and with my birthday in November my dad MADE me learn to drive in the snow. Im glad he did, because while if I had the choice to stay home or go out in the snow, I would stay home, but when I don't have the choice its nice to know I am able to successfully navigate icy roads.
My husband, he is brave! Like many men in our state, he works in the oilfield (my dad works in the coal mines....most men (and lots of women!) have to drive at least 40 miles to get to work in shitty weather). H pulls trailers with backhoes and what not on them in shitty weather all the time...doesn't even bat an eye. He amazes me.
There is a difference between enjoying the snow and enjoying driving in it. I love being snuggled down in my house with my family in front of the fire while the snow is coming down outside. There is something appealing to me about being stuck inside, free from the distractions of the outside world and being able to watch the landscape change overnight.
But I don't enjoy driving it in. Black ice is a huge issue here as well and while Iowa isn't completely mountainous, we have lots of curvy roads and lots of hills still. My parents live at the top of a hill in the Des Moines river valley and there are times that the ice is bad enough that if they leave, they won't be able to get back up the hill. It's that steep. I am lucky enough to live in a relatively flat area, but anywhere where it snows is likely to have different road hazards.
I don't mind being that hated person who wishes for the snow. My wishes hardly make it happen. I just enjoy starting new seasons.
It's chilly here, but no snow yet (IL). Someone said we're supposed to get some Sunday? I hope so...I love snow, and I hate it when it doesn't before my birthday!

I just looked at the forecast again and I'm thinking maybe I should go get some more candles before tonight...
ETA: Immediately after writing this I left to get some before the buses stopped running (they stop at 5p on my street). Walking to the bus stop I saw an AT&T truck and crew fixing a pole because there's already ice and someone hit it, which would explain why my lights had been flickering. So I guess that was a good call. Plus I figured while I was out I should stock up on more wine. You know, just in case.

@ADH0906 I must be close to you! I wish snow was on our radar. I would rather have it now than in March! I'm just glad it's sunny today- we had pretty bad fog yesterday and the other drivers made me nervous :-S
