  • Yesterday I couldn't help but thinking All my nieces and nephews (in DH's family) are such brats and annoy me. Granted, they are ages 11-16 so the teenage attitude is thick.
I was that mom yesterday, telling myself that will never happen to my sweet little girl. [-O<

I think it's pretty rough being a teenager, especially at that age.I definetly went through a real bratty phase, and I was lucky that my aunts and uncles were sympathetic and didn't hold it against me. ;)

  • I gained 5 lbs. I don't know how, I *should* be losing, but NOPE. 5.stinkin'.pounds. I'm so pissed.

If you need me I'll be digging myself a hole to crawl into in the back yard.

  • My wedding was horribly tacky. I try and blame it on the fact that I was in school full time and planning a large-ish wedding on a tight budget on my own, but I feel like I was probably just lazy. I wish I could go back and re-do it. :(

I hate when parents don't put a hat on their child when they are outside (rain or shine).. It's ridiculous

  • I hate when people say 5 million times "I'm going to put you in timeout" to their toddlers and then don't follow through. My 2 year old nephew spit water on the floor, hit everyone he came in contact with including LO, and threw a book at his mom and all I kept hearing "your gonna get a timeout". Don't complain that he is a holy terror, you are creating a monster.

Oh, this makes me laugh. Just wait ...

All kids should have hats on at all times when outside? Yeah.. I never put hats on either kid. Granted, my 3-year-old has a head of hair that could rival any hat. :)
I used to judge parents who let their kids run around the park with no shoes. And then I became the mom of one of those kids who won't keep their shoes on for ANYTHING. So now I'm one of them. Fuck it. You can't judge til you get there.

I meant for parents who literally don't even bother trying when it's a scorcher out or a wind storm. It was horrible here the other week and my friend asked why I was putting a hat on DS. Granted he won't wear it for the entire time, I still try.

Eta- I wasn't trying to come across judgey, I just seen parents who don't give a hoot. My toddler threw a tantrum at playclass yesterday and hit me..I could feel the parents just starring at me as I grabbed our stuff to leave ... It's not exactly smooth sailing with my guy

@mommyames2, couldn't have said it better myself. I thought we had an easy toddler who listened well.. And then new baby came along, coupled with turning 3. He's doing everything that I never thought he'd do and I'm trying to do everything "right" but damn.. It's so much harder than it looks!!! And you'll never know til you're there.

We are living parallel lives. I have a threenager!
    Preach!

    Love the threenager...stealing that lol

I will admit that there are MANY things that you really can't speak on until you've been there as a parent. There are already things that I swore I would NEVER do that I've done (ahem, bed sharing) HOWEVER, discipline is one that I feel I can speak to. I can confidently say E will not be spanked. Period, end of story, no amount of "just you wait" will change my mind on that. I can also say that when he's told to stop a behavior, he will do as he's asked, or there will be a consequence. I'm all for offering chances to improve your attitude/behavior but you've got to follow through eventually. If I spent all day telling my room full of toddlers that if they did "x" again, they would go to time out and didn't follow through, I would have a mini mutiny on my hands. My niece and nephew are the same way; they walk all over my sister and BIL because there are never consequences. They know I'm not a pushover and listen the first time, or if needed, I follow through.

You most defiantly should follow through with punishments. If not, your kids will never listen. Agreed. I also don't spank my kids, never will,

  • I'm a FTM too, but I refuse to be one of those who say they will or wont do this or that. DD, FI, and I will figure it out as we go. a quick update on my mental status: My medicine wass increased, but I think its causing letdown issues at evening feedings, so I've been EBF for 4m. I see the pedi 12/4. She has had 4 bottles so far of the similac formula for BFing moms. She's doing well with it. Want to see what the pedi says too, plus I don't want my meds to have effects on her now or later. I'm starting to feel better already.
  • I get married Saturday. I started my period yesterday. Minus the God awful cramps and the fear of trying to figure out how to put a tampon in while I have my dress on, I'm happy about it. We haven't dtd yet, and I still have no desire to.

  • I don't start my full time hours til Sunday.. But I'm going to submit for full time holiday pay for today and yesterday. It's a little off, but I figure I may as well try!

  • Now that I have a family of my own... I totally judged everyone on my Facebook that went shopping yesterday.

I have 3 kids. MH stayed home and I went shopping with my sister, like every year.

Judge away because there is nothing wrong with it. I had thanksgiving with my family (3 houses actually), and shopped afterwards.

Ya I don't get this. I didn't know people with families couldn't go shopping... ? I just went shopping WITH my family...

  • My fffc I totally wore both my maternity spanx and a pair of my maternity pants yesterday. Started with a dress and my booty could always use the help and the maternity ones are most comfy. Changed later and my maternity pants are my nicest pair of unfaded black pants so on they went. A little baggy but they worked and the tummy panel is a perk everyone wished they had on thanksgiving

  • I totally judge first time parents who have it "all figured out." You don't know what type of toddler/child you will have. So don't judge other people's parenting until you live it yourself.

My kids don't always have a hat on outside, what if it isn't that cold or they won't keep it on? Unrealistic.

I give my kids a few chances to improve behavior before putting them in the corner/timeout/grounding.

I have older kids, I have experienced it. I know what a difficult and an easy toddler is like, I have had both. So don't say you will do it this way or that way, until you are there.

ETA: I am not saying you shouldn't discipline your child. I don't do empty threats either, I just give chances to improve behavior.

Thank you for this!! Totally my point exactly. I wish discipline had hard and fast rules, but it doesn't. And just because they exhibit monster behavior doesn't mean they'll turn into monsters, whether they go to timeout or not.
@tdmklm I too am stealing "threenager"! Did you throw that out on our 9/10 board?

@BellaOso My DH and I bought a brand new bed that we totally can't afford early this week because it was crazy on sale. It gets here in a few hours and I'm stupid excited but also stressed about paying off another thing.

Our old bed is a piece of uncomfortable poo.
I was watching a weird Health Show on PBS yesterday (DD wouldn't let me put her down, and I couldn't find the remote) and the doctor said there are two things you actually want to OVERSPEND on in life: a bed and a good kitchen knife. He even said that you should buy the best bedding possible because rest has the largest impact on your "real age". He's besties with Dr. Oz or something. My point is, just tell yourself you're following doctor's orders. ;-)

  • I think I'm starting to become a hoarder when it comes to good deals. PetSmart has 35lb buckets of kitty litter half off today, so I bought as much as my vehicle could hold (10 buckets).

I so badly want to go back and fill my garage with litter!

  • My confession is I didn't follow "doctor's orders." LO had an upper GI done Tuesday and the xray tech said "You probably just want to give her water the rest of the day to make sure the barium doesn't constipate her." We got in the car and I told DH there was no way in hell I was giving my baby (who isn't gaining weight) water. She pooped out the barium just fine without constipation.

  • Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one that had never used some sort of swaddle specific blanket. I've just always used a regular blanket. Because, up until lately, she hasn't had any trouble staying in her swaddle, I haven't seen the point of spending the money on some Velcro blanket when I have plenty of normal blankets to swaddle her in.
