We got rid of several things once DS had outgrown them and if they took too much space to store. We got rid of our high chair, Bumbo Chair, changing table and infant car seat. We still have most of the larger things - stroller, pack n' play, rock n' play, dresser, rocking chair and crib.
This LO is a girl and for the most part, I plan on using a lot of DS's things. Of course, we will getting girl clothes and I do want to get a travel system that is for a girl (we need a car seat anyways). Other than that, we plan on using DS's things, even though they are more boy colored (green and browns). We need a few things like a play mat and other small things we do not have or got rid of, that we will buy.
Anyways, a coworker of mine made a comment the other night about me having to go out and buy all new stuff. I told her that I really didn't play on replacing everything. She literally gave me a look like I was the worst parent ever and then went on for about 5 minutes about how she would never use boy stuff for a girl. So, it got me thinking, am I wrong to do this? Do I need to go replace everything? I just don't see the need IMO. Maybe I missing something though. Just wanted you ladies opinions on this.
ETA: This is our last child, so we won't have to worry about another child and what the sex would be.

Re: Would you / Did you replace everything for a second child if they were different sexes?
Then we had you.
Now we are complete.
I MIGHT get a new pack and play for baby boy but I might not. I think I'll get a blue bumbo instead of using our pink one, but all the big stuff is staying the same.

We also plan on getting new bedding. I forgot to mention this. I am glad to know everyone (so far) does not think I am a bad mother.

Good call on reusing what you have! Your coworker sounds like they're made of $$$$.
ETA: when I said "nursery stuff," I mean decor. We are reusing the same crib, etc.
Also, more alarmingly, little boys shitting glitter after coming into contact with Tinkerbell sheets.
The danger is real, protect your children.
