We are in the same boat - 2nd is a girl, 1st was a boy. We are re-using the PNP, bouncer and swing, even though they are blue/boy patterns. I probably won't put her in the more boyish outfits we have, but if there are any blue infant onesies or sleep sacks, I'm certainly not going to throw them out to get pink ones. Our car seats were all gray or neutral, so I will reuse what we can, but some may be expired as they are 8 years old. I have to buy a new stroller because of an incident in the garage resulting in oil getting splattered all over the old one, which we threw away.
The infant bedding I am undecided on - what we have is definitely boyish but we may use it anyway, unless I can find something I really like for the girl that will not result in me having to repaint the nursery.
Just out we are having a boy but even before we did i started registering for gender neutral stuff as this is our first. Im sure we'll get plenty of blue boy stuff so ill buy what i can that we can reuse next time. Of course ill buy a few "boy" outfits and toys in time but the major stuff (stoller, crib, car seat, high chair) will be for either. They don't know the difference and they shouldnt. Orange is my favorite color not pink.
Pffft - can this lady buy all my stuff for me? She's clearly got a money tree hidden somewhere and isn't sharing! This is only our first, but we are going as gender neutral as possible on all the big ticket items (bedding, decor, stroller, car seat, you get the idea) so we have the ability to reuse when we have more LO's. Even a lot of the early clothing we'll have gender neutral for reusability! I'm sure we'll get some gender specific items, but we're not going overboard to start with. Like PP's have said, it's not like the kid is going to be scarred for life if they don't have gender specific everything!
Woah...does your coworker think money grows on trees???
When I was expecting my first I bought everything gender neutral. Gear, crib, swings etc. I knew that each kid would probably have their own bedding though.
I wouldn't buy any new gear for a new kid other than something like a double stroller to accommodate TWO kids.
This pregnancy because I am having a different sex I am going nuts with clothes, headbands and will get new bedding. Also will paint her room
Ummm, no. I like blue. In fact I painted the future baby room blue 2 years before I had Kaleb and if he had been a girl she would have lived in a blue room. I've painted this baby's room green. Why? Because I like green. A lot of the big items (stroller, high chair, pnp) are neutral so we'll be using those.
A lot of K's clothes (especially pjs) will be used for this baby. If it's a girl, I'll need to get stuff like more girly shoes and dresses and stuff, but I don't plan on buying everything in pink. WTF is that anyways.
Next time co-worker makes such a comment look at her like she's lost her ever loving mind.
Edit to add: Even though K has always looked like a little boy (99% of ppl agree) and has always worn boyish clothes, 90% of strangers would tell me how pretty my little girl was. Strangers are freaking clueless...ignore them.

We reused quite a bit from DS1 for DD. Pnp, stroller, car seat, high chair swing, crib etc. pjs, onsies. Whatever we could really. As for DS2, he'll be wearing a lot of hand me down clothing that was saved from DS1. We have to replace some things after two kids, like our travel system/ car seat and our PNP. Everything else is going through round three. It sounds great on paper to get new things, but realistically, babies spend a lot of time at home, and in their pjs. DD has worn plenty of "boy" stuff, and seems to be surviving the experience.
