Had my baby yesterday

Hi All!,

I just wanted to give an update that I had my son yesterday afternoon.  I will post more details later when i get my laptop here that the hospital.  But some highlights are:

  • contraction started at 3:30am on 12/19
  • starting loosing plug right away
  • 3:35am my water broken while I was on the toilet.  It wasn't clear it was brownish green.  James had had his first BM already.
  • 6:30am admitted to L&D  was still 1cm dilated Pitocin was orders to help speed things along since we did not know how much mecon. was floating around in there.
  • 8:45am contrax where 3min apart and I got an epi
  • 9am baby's heart rated dropped considerably low.  Dr was able to get it back up in no time.  Had to hear 02 mask and lay on my side for James and for the fact that i was getting sick laying on my back.  I also got fluids put back in me...i forget what they call it but some amino...a cath. put up to put fluids back around baby.
  • 10:20am i was 2-3cm dilated and 90% effaced.  Got sick yet again and the Pitocin.
  • 11:30 I was 4cm dilated and 100% effaced.  At some point after this my Ob came running in with a nurse,  James wasn't tolerating labor well and she didnt want to  take a chance of my labor progressing and James heart still dropping. 

So after 10 hrs of labor we all agreed (dh, myself, & ob) to do a c-section.  we had 20 min. to call our families and let them know, sign consent forms, get a boost of the epi and get Brian in his scrubs.

James was born 2 weeks early weighing in at 5lbs 13oz.  He is 19 1/2 inches long.  Blue eyes and a full head of hear.  His reason for his dropping heart rate was the cord wrapped around his neck a couple of times and well as a foot.  

He did score low on his first apgar of a 4 his second was a 9 and he is just perfect.  We are in love.  A little surprised but his quick arrival but happy and in love.
