I am so excited to start purchasing things for my little bug, but every time I go shopping I get overwhelmed and leave empty handed. I don't know what I can expect as shower gifts, or what I really need . What have you guys bought so far?
My boyfriend got a bunch of boy clothes. He's CONVINCED it's going to be a boy. This is my first so I'm going to buy the big things myself and fill out my registry at babies r us and target and just pass it along to family and friends when I have my baby shower.
We needed another sheet for C's crib, so I happened to pick up the matching little blanket for it for the new baby. C has hers from the first sheet set that I bought, so this one is special for the new baby and will work for either gender. I think that a sheet set (because I found one I loved) was all I bought for C before my shower. I waited, impatiently, until after the shower to buy anything else so that I didn't end up with duplicates and so that I could buy stuff with my completion coupon (pro tip, you can add to the registry at any time, so I went on and added stuff that I hadn't thought of before the shower but decided I wanted, right before we went and did the completion coupon shopping!).
We have a crib, swivel glider and material for me to make some stuff. My sister is done having kids (she has 4) and has been passing ALL of her items (from clothes to toys to everything) down to us. It's so nice to save money this way!
I bought an elephant onesie on clearance at GAP but that's it. I only have a few items I need to get for #2 and will probably wait until after we get our tax return to buy them.
I'm tempted to buy stuff but then wait. I wanted to be the first person to give my boyfriend a baby gift so I found this onesie that's red and says "my dad's cooler than your dad". Its pretty gender neutral.
I'm wanting to get everything but we are not team green so I always second guess myself haha
I found a practically new boppy pillow at a yard sale for a dollar. My parents also bought a beautiful white vintage bassinet at a yard sale for $8. My mom bought a few gender neutral sleepers and a few little boy and girl outfits. Oh and I also found a pretty brown basket lined with fabric that says "baby things" at Marshall's for $5.
Trying not to go too crazy until we know the gender, but its hard! Baby stuff is so cute.
I ordered a countdown to baby that doubles as a count up once baby is born today. It was so cute and I couldn't resist! Don't know if that really counts as buying for baby or not
Since this is our third the only thing we could possibly need is a new wardrobe if we end up having a girl this time. Oh and a baby monitor. When we lived in an apartment we never needed one. Now that we have a house I have a feeling a baby monitor will come in handy.
Oh and I want to cloth diaper this time so I've got to get a stock of cloth diapers. I wanted to cloth diaper with the boys but DH wasn't into the idea. This time around I've got him convinced since disposables are so expensive.
The first thing I buy when I find out I'm expecting is a baby book. I haven't put anything in it yet, but it's here. That's it so far. I have zero baby gear, blankets, or clothes since my youngest is 4, but I'll get things over time. I'll be shopping closer to the end.
I got a baby book And a gender neutral bodysuit when we found out I was pregnant. Yesterday after the NT scan I got another one, was on sale and cuuuute. That's all so far.
I got a onesie that is gender neutral. It says My Mommy is Out of This World and glows in the dark! After finding out my mom gave us a stuffed lamb that is really cute and a pregnancy journal. I don't have anything practical yet. This sounds ridiculous, but I'm not wanting to buy anything until second trimester just in case.
I haven't bought anything yet, but my mother in law gave me and my hubby a pink baby blanket (that she already had before we told her that we were expecting!). She told us to start sleeping with it and think pink.
Nothing, yet. I am too worried about "jinxing it" at this point. I will probably start looking at things in the 2nd tri. My mom tried to convince me to buy a crib this week and I was like, whoa! Wayyy too early for that! We still have a total overhaul to do on what will be the nursery. I can't even think about furniture yet.
I've bought lots and lots of baby books at thrift stores/online. I've been researching big ticket items but haven't bought anything yet. I picked up a lot of little things (clothes mostly) at garage sales throughout the years we were TTC. I don't know when I'm going to start shopping, but my OB advises to have most things baby ready by 26-28 weeks, just in case they make their debuts early and/or if I get put on bed rest early.
i bought a jogging stroller at a consignment store and a couple of different gender neutral crib sheets. MIL is buying stuff in secret, I'm pretty sure.
We waited to buy anything until after we found out our son was a boy. I don't think we will buy anything til after we find out the gender again. We have so much stuff already.
My 7y/o daughter picked out two unisex onesies at good will. I was feeling a bit nostalgic and found a fisher price happy apple (circa 1972) on ebay. This apple is indestructible. My family passed one along for at least 7 generations. My older cousin who has downs syndrome kept it since. As soon as the box arrived everyone recognized the chimes it made. I can't wait to see baby play with it.
I've gotten a onesie and a bib. One to announce to my sister, the other to announce to my mom. For some reason I have the strongest urge to go buy a stroller. right.this.very.second. I think about it all the time. lol
my mom bought a crib the moment I told her, I bought a glider last pregnancy that mc, i bought a highchair and i got a pack of 3 ny giants onesies on clearance that matches hb shirts perfectly. needless to say I am excited.
I just bought two newborn outfits today with my husband. I keep going to stores but find shopping is SO OVERWHELMING. Carseats? Strollers!? I feel like I am bound to make a terrible decision. At least we have some time...
I did start a secret Amazon gift registry so I can keep a running list of possible items.
Although DS is only 17months, he is already in a twin bed.
All this baby 'needs' is a car seat. That we will wait for a while - right now we have other expenses.
And honestly, if this LO is a girl, she will need clothes, but other than that all I really planning on buying are decorative things for the nursery. I did make a big deal of DS's nursery and I want to make this one equally as special.
We haven't bought a thing. We have a lot of the big stuff (crib, bouncer, swing, etc.) left over from DS so we will only need to buy clothes which we can't buy until we know the sex. I do plan on stocking up on diapers after the holidays.
We haven't bought anything yet but hope to buy furniture on Black Friday. On years past, Babies R Us has had some amazing furniture deals, hopefully they will be doing the same this year. FX
Nothing yet. We have nowhere to put it! Our house is tiny - 600 square feet, one bedroom - but we're currently working on renovating our attic into a master suite. Once that's finished - hopefully in the new year - we'll start looking into buying a crib. Not too soon though. We'll be sharing our bedroom with baby for the first year or so, so I'd like to enjoy a couple months of adult-only space first!

I refuse to buy anything until after first tri. Too worried about another MC.

Plus what ever we spend to decorate the nursery.
