I hate the term DH on the bump. I don't think MH has ever been "darling". Thoughtful...yes, amazing...yes...but darling? I just can't. I can understand it in reference to our babies...but our husbands, cringe worthy.
Hope I'm not intruding but I'm up early and nobody has started it yet!
Here's mine: I would not be worried or upset in the least bit if one of my girls told me she was gay. This could get controversial
Give me all you got!
How about both of your girls?
I wouldn't care if any and all my children were. Who am I to tell them who and how to love. I would never love them any less or support them any less due to their sexual preference.

I have always thought it was dear. Not that that makes it much better. I don't really ever think of it as something I'd actually say - just as an acronym to make explaining things easier!

I absolutely CAN NOT STAND that so many retail stores are opening on Thanksgiving day this year. There are SO FEW times our society ever "stops" and certain holidays (including T-Giving) are one of them. It makes me crazy that the craze of a good bargain and the retail holiday season outweighs one of the few big holidays of the year.

I do not understand why anyone on the planet would look at a mini-van and say "that is one good looking vehicle". SUV's are just as practical and definitely better on the eyes.
I don't know anyone who buys a minivan because they like the way it looks. Having recently traded my large suv for a minivan, I can guarantee that suvs are not just as practical once you have multiple small children. Sliding doors are the best invention ever!!!! And with a lower entry point, my DD can actually get herself into the car now which was a big concern because holding 50+ lbs of kid at once is not easy. Plus, I get more storage space plus better gas mileage for a cheaper price than an suv. If that's not practical, I don't know what is.
Hence why my opinion may be unpopular
I have an outback and my 3 year old can get in it himself just fine. Why are sliding doors better?

My SIL actually calls my bro "darrrrrrr-ling" with a 1940's black and white movie pronunciation. Makes my skin crawl.
Well, full disclosure, she makes my skin crawl any way.
Mini-vans are THE BOMB! My H had one/a Honda Odyssey when we first got married (work vehicle) and I was prepared to not like it. Nope. I fell madly and deeply in love. That thing can haul some crap! We both missed it terribly when it got traded in.
I know people think they're creepy, but I can't wait to do Elf on a Shelf with Ava this year. I think she'll have so much fun looking for it every morning.
I don't understand when people who work retail get upset when they have to work super early on black Friday...as if it's a surprise that it's a big shopping day. Don't like it? Don't work at a store that is notoriously black Friday savvy. Dont work for Target or Kohls then get all up in arms about needing to work at midnight, like it's something new.
"I wanted you more than you'll ever know, so I sent love to follow wherever you go."
The black "friday" thing also annoys me. When I was a teen all of my aunts and my mom and I would get up at 8am on friday and make a fun, non stressful day of it. It's really nit like that anymore. If you want one of the good deals you have to go on tgiving or camp out in the cold. It's ridiculous. I will not go on thanksgiving.

Then stay home and don't shop?? It doesn't affect you if you don't partake.

I have now written and deleted four posts about Black Friday because it is too close to home and I don't feel like taking this thread off on a tangent, so here's what I'll say as my unpopular opinion about everything:
Vote with your dollar. If you don't like something that a store or company does, don't spend money there, and don't endorse the behavior. It is similar to my "if you don't vote, you don't get to complain" opinion.

Not unpopular with me. I'm all for getting a good deal, but I don't understand at all why those deals have to be on a holiday. Toys r us's ad leaked and their best deals this year are from 5-9 pm on thanksgiving day. wtf is that?! What is the point, can't stores give us the same deals a few hours after turkey and football?
Exactly. And something else I think about - it used to be Black Friday - now it's T-Giving.... next it will be the day before THanksgiving......To me, it's like everything is lost by the retailers craziness.

I don't plan to pay for my children's college. I think the idea is pretty crazy and contributes a lot to the entitlement mindset of this generation. ns). They have to learn to make choices that will effect their entire lives - that's a skill that can't be given.
Ooo good one this is controversial-tastic! While I agree that college is not for everyone, and vocational/skills training is sometimes a better option, I cannot fathom paying $40,000+ per year at the age of 18 for my college education. I worked all during high school and college, but did I come close to being able to pay tuition? Ha! Not a prayer! And my most important "job" at that point was obtaining the education necessary so I could be independent later on in life. If you have a child who wants a college education, and you have the means to help pay for it, I think this opinion is unreasonable... and absurd.

It's not like Black Friday just affects retail workers. I used to work retail and it sucked because people are absolutely rude on that day. It's like they forgot that the employees are people. Also, traffic is bad and people are ridiculous. I have seen people just park wherever they feel like parking, or have someone sit in the car with the hazard lights on and block traffic, because they have given up on the search for a parking space. I now work in a restaurant and people are so mean, needy, and bad tippers on that day, and mad that we don't do anything for black friday. I'm sorry, we are a restaurant...I don't know what they were expecting. Ugh, I try not to leave my house if I can avoid it. But, I usually have to work...ok...end rant
My UO (I can participate in it this week! yay!) is that I make Mina look extra girly whenever we go out, because I hate it when people call her a handsome little man. People still get it wrong, and it really bothers me. Are you even looking? She has a bow/headband in her hair. She's wearing a dress. But...she looks just like her daddy. I already look funny carrying her around because we have different skin tones, people never realize that she is mine. Then they call her a boy...
I am not a huge fan of friendly stranger interactions(aka. overly excited little old ladies) but Mina is so friendly, they feel compelled to come over and talk to us whenever we are at a store. For reference(and since I missed HDBD) here she is attempting to stand in her crib.

And my 401K thanks you for it. ;-) I don't shop on BF either - never have. HOwever, back when I was working in stores (HS and college) I actually loved BF -- it was fun, crowded, the day went by fast because we were so busy, and in some roles I was comission based, which was awesome. As a HQ employee of several retailers, I have often had to work in the office the day after, and for a few years I volunteered in the stores (until I realized that the stores hate it when the "worthless" corporate employees get in their way -- and then I just started bringing them cookies for the break rooms!)

I get what you're saying, but I live in a small town and lots of jobs are retail. Lots of people, my mom included, work retail since that's what they are qualified to do. I wish my mom didn't have to work on holidays or at 3 am the next day for greedy people to shop.
My UO: I don't think Instagram/Facebook selfies are necessary after college age. I have multiple friends who post pictures of themselves all the time for no good reason. This includes my obnoxious SIL so maybe that's why it bothers me.

I don't think the consumer is necessarily greedy. Actually most of the time they are just trying to get a good deal. If anything the "greedy" party here is the retailer who opens at 2 am on Black Friday, drops prices , makes all employees work etc. Black Friday is driven by the retailers not the consumer IMO. They want more which is why they will open even earlier this year. Sorry that your mom has to work BTW. I also worked in retail before and it is not fun at all. I do not miss those days.

True; I probably shouldn't use the word greedy. I do think if we all waited to shop then the stores wouldn't be open at crazy times!

Big difference between helping your kid and paying for everything IMHO. My parents let my older siblings live at home rent free for college but paid nothing towards tuition. As a result they both chose to go to state schools, work through college, and ended up with little to no student debt. They both went on to grad school (law and pharmacy) and managed to keep that debt low through scholarships and work. And they are both doing markedly better than I am financially even though my parents did help me with college expenses. I think I would have had a much better appreciation for the hardship of student loan debt if I had been all on my own with it.
We will certainly help our kids and have 529 plans, but no blank check. I will still be paying off my own student loans.
My unpopular opinion is that the following items should be outlawed completely: handguns/assault rifles... cigarettes... McDonald's fast food.
I'm usually pretty liberal, but the McDonalds one seems a little too nanny state even for me... Why not just teach kids some self control and moderation?
I for one, love black friday. It has been a tradition for the ladies in my family to get all bundled up, drink copious ammounts of hot chocolate and have a great time together. It has nothing to do with us being greedy. I am actually super bummed because H, LO and I are going to San Fran to spend Thanksgiving with his brother, SIL and their 2 kids so I will be missing it this year.
I plan to get LO a walker, we have a one story house with hardwoods so I think she will be okay. Plus, I'm not going to leave her unattended in it.'
I used to think the yellow and orange starbursts were gross, until I tried them. Pink is still the best though
I plan to put away as much money as we can got our kids college and help them while in school but everything we can't cover will be taken out in loans (which we will co sign for) just like my parents did for me.

Okay well now I have to open my mouth. :-) Yes, of course the retailer is greedy. By definition their entire purpose is to sell shit and make money.
That said, the only reason Wal Mart started opening earlier is because somebody was LITERALLY trampled to death one year on BF, crowding into the store... due to their lack of crowd control + general population crazies... so the next year they opened at night... and Everybody who DIDN'T open at night caught heat from both shoppers and employees who wanted the hours...
My UO is that I am glad to be done having kids. It was fun but I'm ready to move on to the next step. I can't wait for kids who can sleep, use the bathroom in a toilet, wipe their own noses, and don't cry all the time. I know I sound crabby... I have had a rough time potty training my son the last few days. I know I'll miss some things but as a whole I have no desire to get pregnant or have another baby.

Vote with your dollar. If you don't like something that a store or company does, don't spend money there, and don't endorse the behavior. It is similar to my "if you don't vote, you don't get to complain" opinion.
"I won't give up on us, even if the skies get rough, I'm giving you all my love, I"m still looking up."

I don't shop in Black Friday however. The crowds drive me nuts.
If you have a child who wants a college education, and you have the means to help pay for it, I think this opinion is unreasonable... and absurd.
Oh okay, that fine. I just know a lot of people who have that opinion, but they are almost personally offended by it or something. lol

I've also heard that DH can stand for dick head.
True; I probably shouldn't use the word greedy. I do think if we all waited to shop then the stores wouldn't be open at crazy times!
We will certainly help our kids and have 529 plans, but no blank check. I will still be paying off my own student loans.
So, once again, WM proves to be the devil. ;-)
