Any other moms seeing this a lot?! LO is circumcised and I freaked out the first time I saw it! DH keeps telling me it's nothing but it's so strange looking!
) there are soooo many little boy questions I wanna google but don't because I don't want to see what I get!!!!! Plus I don't want "the man" to think I'm a sexual predator!!!
Yes. Our guy has it. He also had major adhesions where the skin had grown back to the head. I almost posted here but didn't want people's unasked for opinions on circumcision. We saw a urologist last week who broke the adhesions after we had applied a hydrocortisone cream for a month. He now has a normal looking head again but the penis still looks sucked in. The urologist said that part is normal, from the fat pad they develop down there. It grows around the penis and makes it appear to be sucked in. If you push the fat pad it should pop out. He said it will go back to normal as he ages as slims down.
If your boy has adhesions and the entire head isn't visable when you push the skin back, have your doc look at it. Adhesions can be common and need to be broken or later erections could be painful. I was freaked out about it but LO barely fussed while he did it and was totally fine the rest of the day.
I'm pretty sure she's talking about how it still doesn't look quite "normal" after the circ and the tip still goes inside the foreskin sometimes... at leased that's one of the many things I've noticed... but as I've told DH several times, penises (peni?) are weird.

Exactly. Our guys is always inside the skin. And that's what caused the adhesions. Urologist said that the OB may have left a little too much skin, but he thinks it will be fine. DH and I wouldn't opt for another surgery regardless. His little guy can just wear a mock turtleneck.

I mentioned this after either our 2 month or 4 month appt. For some reason I can't remember which. I think 2 month, but anyway...
I had NO IDEA that the skin had grew back to the head because I had no idea what it was supposed to look like. His pedi pushed the skin back, unconnecting it, and he SCREAMED bloody murder and it was red for a week or so.
His pee pee is not hidden but I always make sure to push back the foreskin every diaper change now so it doesn't happen again.
@ohgrl95, I know!! I was quite pissed that no one told me about this. I was told to push the skin back and apply Vaseline til it healed. That was it. Urologist told me to do them daily! And I guess indefinitely! lol if I has know to do that every day he wouldn't have had the adhesions. Our pedi sent us to a pediatric urologist because the skin was too close to the hole and he was afraid to damage it. The ointment they prescribed us helped a ton and LO barely fussed. We were lucky. You bet I'll be pushing the skin back and applying Vaseline from now on!
Wow.... Sounds more serious than I thought it would be. OP you should probably get it checked by your pedi just to be on the safe side. I hope everything's okay!

Wow, I can't believe they didn't tell you to keep pulling it away. Our pedi was adamant that it must be done daily, and when I accidentally miss a day I can definitely notice. DH usually does it during every bath time so that it stays part of the routine and won't easily be forgotten. I can only imagine what would happen if we didn't keep up with it. Glad it turned out okay for your little guy.
Our LO has this "issue" I talked to the pediatrician at our 6 month appointment and she said that he had no adhesions and that it was caused by a fat pad.... AKA he's a chunky monkey.
She said to just push on the fat pad so his penis comes back out and make sure it is clean.
I know exactly what she's talking about. Its like excess skin. I have to pull back the skin and clean the head every diaper change. The ped said he may have a little extra skin but he'll prob grow into it.
I read online that a lot of OBs err on the side of loose skin rather than taught. When the penis grows, if not enough skin is left behind, it can become tight, and the male can lose feeling in the shaft.
I read all of this too. Once doc we saw told us that the OB left too much skin so I read up on this "loose circ" thing.
As for how it looks, MH jokes that it looks more like a vagina than a penis. lol. I looks like a belly button actually. But if you push on that fat pad it's all there. Urologist said everything is normal down there. Thankfully.
I am having such a hard time conjuring up a mental image of what you all are referring to. But I am also trying to figure out how to word my google search so that I don't get all kinds of raunchiness showing up. I'm very intrigued by "looks more like a vagina".
@Trish625 Try googling baby fat pad just regular search not image search. Then go to the bottom of the 1st page and click on the Buried Penis in Children by AboutKidsHealth. That has a picture of what everyone is talking about.
My 16mo has this and the pedi said since he has so much fat down there(still even though he only weighs 21lbs) that is why his penis looks so small and looks buried.
Am I fucked up that I am contemplating googling this? Wtf would I need to see this for but I'm picturing all sorts of crazy!
::hugs her daughter extra tight for being a girl::
Edited: I spell good
I totally would. I need to know things. @trish625, it doesn't really look like a vagina. MH just says that cuz it's sunken in. I think it looks like an outie belly button. Haha
It's seems to be a common problem of no one telling you that the skin needs to be constantly pushed back with every diaper change. The nurses at the hospital only told us how to care for it until it healed but nothing about "routine maintenance". DS got adhesions too which DH separated (he is a physician). I now pull the skin back and apply Vaseline at bedtime every night along with pulling the skin back every diaper change.

Yea, while LO doesn't have a hidden penis he still had an adhesion that I would have never known of if the Dr. didn't point it out. We were pushing the foreskin back at diaper changes just not all the way back because we didn't know. Once the Dr. did it, it was quite obvious how far we should be pulling back.
Just something for those with little boys to be aware of. Or actually everyone if you are contemplating more kids.

This exactly happened to us too. I felt really bad about it but now we know what we're supposed to do.
Yes. The urologist said Vaseline does wonders. It keeps it lubricated and doesn't allow it to stick (cue @laxminavkar with a funny gif ).
Hidden penis and adhesions can be related but they aren't the same. They can get adhesions without the hidden penis and vice versa. My LOs adhesions are gone, but he still has the hidden penis and will til he grows and loses that fat pad.

This! Lol sorry for scaring some of you! He has nothing growing over it, just fat pad! I push it back every time I see it "hidden"
I am so grateful for this whole thread. I too am one of those too afraid to have these searches in my Google history. I already saw some crazy shit when I found out that his meatus (the pee hole) is off-center and did some research. I couldn't bring myself to search. So I surreptitiously check out the other boys during diaper changes at my moms group. Oh dear god. That's way worse, isn't it?

I LOLed at this. Yea, I've googled all this. Our LOs meatus is a bit on the underside, so the pedi thought he has mild hypospadias (Google that for an education) where the meatus is in the wrong spot. That requires surgery. Apparently it can form anywhere down the shaft. And yes. Dr Google showed me pics. But the urologist said my LO was totally normal. Whew.

I have learned a lot about peni (I like this form best even if it's not real) and will tuck this knowledge away and pull it back out should I ever need it.
DS1 has this, we were told that basically he has a lot of fatty tissue in his pubic area so his penis looks hidden. The doctor also told us that obese men also have this issue and that it is nothing to worry about.
