On the whole Santa thing - I hate when parents think it's cute or funny to have pictures with their child screaming on Santas lap.
No. It's not cute. You're child is genuinely terrified to be with a a stranger. Just wait until their older.
I think it's HYSTERICAL and AWESOME. Call me evil if you'd like -- the tears last for all of 30 seconds, but the photographic brilliance lives forever in graduation and rehearsal dinner slide shows. A screaming me at the age of 2 on a jolly Santa's lap is one of my favorite childhood photographs.
I love them too, and it give my kids something to talk about in therapy when they become adults.
Hipsters drive me insane. Like, they make my skin crawl. Talking about obscure bands and wearing skinny jeans with a bad attitude does NOT make you cool.
I agree. I like finding new bands but don't make a point of it to start dropping their names and make people feel uncultured for not knowing them.
Especially when someone says, "I liked them before anyone knew about them." Umm...ok, here's your medal.

The sight of a hipster with a moustache makes me physically ill. If they have a handlebar moustache I may even dry heave. It's completely irrational how much I hate them.
Omg you guys would hate Eugene. Downtown is like a hipster convention all the time. Which is why we usually avoid it all together
Eugene I could handle. Hipsters in their own environment are easy to avoid. But right now, we have an onslaught of hipster tourists. There is nothing worse than hipsters going to a music festival in a foreign country. hehehehe....I wonder if their skinny jeans make them so cranky?
I don't know how much of an unpopular opinion this is. But, when I was younger I thought that having two guys I liked fight over me would me "cool" or whatever. WRONG. One of the most horrible experiences I've EVER gone through.

Maybe I'm hypersensitive, but I just feel bad. And I don't like the photo of myself screaming and Santas lap at a year old.
I also have two nieces who are/were terrified of Santa until ages 4 and 5 and would get upset just seeing him from afar. Forcing them to see Santa at that point would just be mean.
if you're going to dye your gray hair a very different color and then let the roots grow out to 1-2 inches long, you're better off just not dyeing it to begin with. i mean, what's the point? your ugly gray skunk stripe looks worse than just having a head of gray hair to begin with! you're not fooling anyone!

pets are pets. people matter more than animals. i adored my dogs when i was growing up, but i didn't love them more than my human family members.
YES!
It drives me crazy when people celebrate Mother's day when they only have animals.
I don't get "cravings" for newborns when they are around me. (or when they aren't) I get very uncomfortable, especially now that I am pregnant, when people are all " Holls they are bringing their newborn you can get your fix before you have your own"
I don't need a "fix" for holding newborns. I barely knew what to do with DD when she was a newborn.
If it's someone I love, like one of my BFF's sure I will be more than happy to hold the baby, but I'm not all crazy about just any random baby.

The end of Halloween DOES NOT mean the beginning of Christmas! That is just too much damn Christmas! Autumn is just too short. In Ohio it often goes from summer to winter with maybe 3 weeks of wonderful autumn weather, where it is cool and crisp but not uncomfortably cold.
Christmas songs and decorations should not be in stores or displayed in homes more than 1 week before Thanksgiving. It's overkill. You are ruining it! You know how when your radio station plays your favorite song twice an hour and in a week you hate the song. Yeah... thats what you're doing to Christmas!
I can get not decorating your house , etc before thanksgiving (I'm Christmas crazy and I even think that's too much).
But I hate the argument that stores shouldn't be selling Christmas decorations in Oct/Nov. They sell Halloween stuff starting in August and no one bats an eye lash at that. Same with valentines day. I see valentines stuff in craft stores before NYE hits
And if don't like the Christmas music on the radio, don't listen to it.
I went to Target this morning to stock up on Halloween Candy and most of the halloween shelves were already turned into Christmas Shelves. It made me smile! Because I love Christmas! And really, its not even 2 months away. Maybe its the procrastinator in me - but, I feel like it needs to be out early or I won't get anything accomplished!
My first ever uo: if you're putting a picture of your bump on the internet you need to be fully clothed. Wear a tight top if you must.

About 50% of the time I would say the 'D' in DH stands for Damn, Douchebag, Dingbat, Dumb, Demon or Detestable Other times I love the guy and Ill give him a Darlin' or Dude, or maybe a Delectable
Dude Husband -- I like it. I think my man just got himself a new nickname.

Lol - where I grew up, it's snowing by Halloween.
I have definitely been trick or treating with snow on the ground
This is what is what like where I grew up too. I remember when I was a kid seeing pictures of people dressed up as princesses or mermaids and thinking "Aren't they freezing? How can you fit a mermaid costume over your snowsuit????" Oh, northern Ontario.
Well now I know you guys don't want to see me in my animal print booty shorts. I even magically captured a limited amount of cellulite! ::::runs to delete off of phone for next HDBD::::
I've waited all week to say this after all the name threads lately.
I HATE nicknames. I loathe them. They make my skin crawl. I simply can't stand them. I don't think they are cute or personal. I think they are awful! I call everyone by their given name or I go out of my way to not have to say their name (like when someone is introduced by their nickname)!!! I have no idea why I dislike them so much. I just do!

I go by my nickname, and I absolutely HATE when people who have been introduced to me as Jessie just call me Jessika. The DMV and my dad call me by my full name, that's about it. Jessie has been on all my business cards. That is what I prefer. I think it is terribly rude to not call a grown adult what they prefer to be called, unless they are insisting you call them Captain Underpants or something.
I am honestly really surprised some of you aren't handing out candy b/c your H's aren't home. That is bizarre to me to be afraid to open the door to trick or treaters. I understand it's not as much fun, but still.
I never open up my door when H isn't home unless I know 100% who it is.
I also think its cray cray. I shouldn't be this scared as an adult.
It drives me crazy when people celebrate Mother's day when they only have animals.
...people do this? I actually like animals more than most people and I love my dog, but I'd never even consider celebrating mother's day because of her lol. That's insane.
ETA: Sorry @TallaB, I guess some people do that. You should just send yourself flowers in the name of you being awesome anyway lol.

See, this is the situation I was describing. I would go out of of my way to avoid using your name. You introduce yourself as your nickname. It is rude to call you any other name. Thankfully, it's very rare to actually use anyone's names (unless you're calling them from across a room or discussing them with a third party) so it's usually unnoticed. I don't think anyone has called me by my name in my presence in the last several weeks.
Edit: People in sales use potential customers names a lot. I couldn't get away with this in sales. In the law, we use everyone's legal names for all paperwork so it's easy!

What really bugs me is stores changing out seasonal clothing/items too soon. God forbid I need to replace a pair of mittens in the deep freeze of February. Instead of easily finding mittens at Target or somewhere, I'm seeing rows and rows of swim suits.

I feel like it's just as rude to avoid calling someone by their name just because YOU don't like it. What is wrong with Jessie?? Or Jenny or Chris or Vicky?? They are all legitimate names that that person is choosing to go by. I could maybe see not calling a Thomas by "Hulk" but if that person chooses to go by 'Tom" I think its incredibly rude to avoid their name.

So when you introduce a friend who prefers to be called something other than their full name, do you just not introduce them? Not make friends with people who prefer a variant of the name they were given? Pretend you don't know someone's name when you clearly do? Respectfully.. I think this is silly. And a lot of folks were given a shorter legal name. How do you know if a Katie is legally Katie and never was Katherine or just goes by a shorter name? I had a great aunt named Jessie who never was a Jessica and she was a badass old lady. When you meet someone and that is the legitimate case, do you still just hate their name?
I introduce myself as Samantha, but almost everyone I know calls me Sam. I have absolutely no preference as to which people call me. Except my mom who is the only one that calls me Sammy.
