    Gasp!!!!  Get out of town!

Mine isn't really an opinion it's an action...I'm not turning the porch light on tonight to hand out candy.  DH will be gone and I don't want to open the door to strangers....so I'm going to eat all the candy instead.

    Hahahaha!

  • Hipsters drive me insane. Like, they make my skin crawl. Talking about obscure bands and wearing skinny jeans with a bad attitude does NOT make you cool.

I agree. I like finding new bands but don't make a point of it to start dropping their names and make people feel uncultured for not knowing them.

My husband is out of town and I'm doing the exact same thing!  Usually, we sit on the porch, drink a few beers, and hand out candy to the neighborhood brats.  This year, I'll be lights out, on the couch, watching some Hocus Pocus and trying to not eat too many fun size Snickers.  I can't wait!!

  • The crazy lady in Fargo, ND handing out letters to "fat kids" who trick or treat her house has an UO of her own!

I can't open this video but "Fat letters" to kids? That just sounds douchey, I will have to watch this when I get home to see what this is about.

*face palm* Boy that is judgy parenting at its finest. Don't hand out candy if you do not approve! Hand out home made veggie chips or apple slices. Hey or don't hand out anything at all.

Yes! I know a few people who do it and they leave their toothbrushes in the shower. It makes me physically ill.

I don't hate Santa, but I do think he's scary. I can't decorate with Santas. This was at my DH's aunt's lake house one Christmas:

Don't even try to tell me that is a jolly face.
    Uhhh this is creepy! Haha!

Santa UO - I will never stand in line for 3 hours at a mall so my screaming baby can get a picture with Santa. Good on those who have the patience for that...but I do not.

    -------------------------
Most malls, at least the ones around here, have a number system where you can sign up and then show up at an appointed time. Only the ill-prepared wait in line!

Plus, screaming babies on Santa's lap photos are MY FAVORITE. DD was grinning ear to ear last year -- I was disappointed.

  • I do not believe all car seats provide the same amount of safety. I know the standard Bump answer to car seat brand / model inquiries is "all seats must pass the same safety standard testing," and I 100% acknowledge that that is true... But passage doesn't equal performance. Just because performance results of these tests aren't readily available in the States (WHY??!!), doesn't mean they don't exist and they don't show some seats perform better than others. We have a Britax Marathon as our everyday convertible car seat, and we have a Cosco seat (can't remember the model but it's the entry level) that we use purely for air travel because it's so light and easy to carry...there is no one on earth who can convince me that the Cosco seat is just as safe as the Britax. Do I think DD would survive a crash in the Cosco? Sure, otherwise I wouldn't put her in it (and, for the record, I don't think Expensive automatically means Safe) -- but I'm way more confident in the performance of our everyday seat.
It's not a "standard Bump" answer. It's also what any CPST will tell you.

I agree that some may preform better but, that very well may mean that the cheap seat without the steal reinforced frame performs better than the ones that do since the plastic moves to absorb the impact better....but we just don't know. I base my purchase off what fits my child and my vehicle the best.

I acknowledged it was a factual statement. (My "standard Bump" remark was a nod to the fact that my opinion might be unpopular.). And I also said I don't believe Expensive always = Safe. I do think performance has a lot to do with ease of installation/use and proper fit. I also think, considering what we know about car safety, it's not a stretch to say a seat that provides a more structure and padding for impact protection is likely safer. But! I could
be wrong - I am not a car seat expert.

ETA: Bottom Line: I think it's pretty ridiculous we don't have easy access to car seat crash test reports.

I get that and I wasn't trying to argue your point, just putting in another perspective :)

Also, cars are made with a lot lighter materials now then they used to be. Old cars that were completely metal have been found to be more dangerous since they don't "crumple" like the fiber glass/heavy plastic (sorry don't actually know what the material is) shelled cars we have now.

But like you, I wish we could see test results too.

I'm stupid excited for the local radio station that flips to Christmas music to make the switch soon - probably tomorrow. Sure, I have Pandora all year, but hearing people call in requests makes me feel less alone in my Christmas obsessed lunacy.

eta: I am so excited to finally watch all of those movies. Especially Elf. DH might kill me, but it's going on sometime this weekend.
  • On the whole Santa thing - I hate when parents think it's cute or funny to have pictures with their child screaming on Santas lap.

No. It's not cute. You're child is genuinely terrified to be with a a stranger. Just wait until their older.
  • I'm really tired of all the sex announcement posts on this board. You had a 50/50 shot of either. I don't know you and I really don't care if you're having a boy or a girl. I'm glad your baby is healthy though.

When we find out I won't be announcing it here. But that shit will be on FB almost immediately.

Eh, it's annoying to have so many repetitive posts, but I also remember HOW EXCITED I was to find out with DD and it sucked being last on my BMB bc everyone was so sick of the announcements. Just skip them if they annoy you, or throw the OP a bone and punch "love."
Yep I just skip them. :) I'll be glad when the flood of them is over.
