@IrongEgg I was rocking out to Christmas music yesterday. Canadian thanksgiving is long over. NOT SORRY
JEALOUS!! we only have 26 days between thanksgiving and Christmas this year. Not nearly enough time to get my jingle on. Not early enough.
Not that I agree on the christmas music, I'm just in love with your phrasing.

UO: Three Musketeers is the most useless candy bar. JUST nougat and chocolate? Milky Ways are a bit better, but I'm a caramel whore. But seriously.... gimme some crunch!!!

EDIT: Nougat is a screwed up word.

This is great! They were setting up Christmas stuff in our little store in town and it took all my power not to get new decorations. DH is such a firm believer in waiting until after thanksgiving but I loooovvvveee Christmas!

I don't think little girls should be allowed in pageants. It's bad for their self esteem and it's sick how much make up, hair, spray tan, etc. goes on them.
Not all pageants are like this! Growing up, my cousin was in "baby" pageants, but they just dressed her up in cute dresses and she would walk on stage and ham it up for some judges. No make-up, spray tan, hair spray, etc. I don't even think they touched her hair except to put a bow in it.

I agree. An acquaintance this week posted a status about a pageant her daughter was in and how proud she was of her for winning Best Hair and Best Eyes. Why would you want to teach your daughter that just being pretty is the way to win anything?

There's a huge petition going around my province on this subject right now, and the majority tends to be very against it.

I just really don't GET it? What's the point?
  • @ Wolfox- Three musketeers is the bombdotcom. The nuts and caramel in the other options just gets in the way of all the nougaty goodness. Gimme all the nougat!

  • As long as no one's favorite song is Christmas Shoes, we'll all get along juuuuuust fine.

@WolFox More 3 Musketeers for me, then!

I have two that I've been hoarding this week:

    1) I'd rather have a 2 minute phone conversation with you than exchange 10 texts. I have a phone that has a limited number of texts it can store (it's a Blackberry, and I don't know why), so sometimes in the middle of a conversation I have to delete messages to keep having the conversation. But, not my phone specific, I'd rather just exchange the info quickly. Especially about meeting up with people or which movie theater to go to, calling's just faster.

I love texts as a throughout the day thing, or way to send photos, but not as a figuring out logistics thing beyond a simple 'we're here.'

    2) If you have a ticker that says you're 223 weeks pregnant, I judge. I don't care if you're mainly on mobile, you've somehow managed to put a ticker up for said child's birthday, so why didn't you just delete your pregnancy ticker then. I'm not saying it must be done right away, but if you're going to start posting again, and you're able to add tickers, just delete the pregnancy one when you're adding the others. I judge less if there isn't a ticker for the kid out of the womb, because that probably means that you haven't been able to change anything.

Christmas goes through Jan 6th!!  Come on people... don't leave those drummers drumming a hangin'!!
It's more of a "I can't go back to the office while there is Christmas stuff in my house".

So Christmas ends the weekend before the end of the vacation.
  • Christmas is one day, plus the day before. That's it. It's not a week, or 12 days, or 2 fucking months. It's a 48 hour period. Nothing more.

And it's rolling over to other holidays and it's getting fucking annoying. Halloween is not a week long event. It's one day- the 31st. There are schools that have been Halloween parties all week. There are towns that have been doing trick or treating all week (if they moved it up due to weather forecasts, that's fine. I get that). I've seen people on my newsfeed that have had their kids out several times because different neighborhoods in the same town have it on different nights. It's insane. And it's stupid. It's not Halloween week, it's a day. One. Single.

I'm going to agree but disagree on this whole two day Christmas thing. While the calendar tells me it is on the 24-25, my job doesn't recognize it.
I don't get those days off so Christmas is when my days off revolve around that time. We have celebrated with my family as much as two weeks before or two weeks late. This year is the first in a long time when my rotation is off on Christmas. The holiday is when we celebrate it. My husband is used to is because his mom is a nurse and he spent many of his childhood years upset because they had to open gifts on a different day.
I am on Team Don't Display Christmas Decorations So Soon in retail situations. I'm open to them after Thanksgiving and ending the first of the year.

If you don't want to celebrate Christmas more than Christmas Eve and Christmas day that's your business.  But technically, according to the Christian Church Calendar (at least for Catholic and mainline Protestant) Christmas begins at the end of Christmas Eve worship and continues until Epiphany which starts on January 6.  Again, I am NOT trying to tell anyone what they should do or believe just offering up an explanation for the "12 days of Christmas" that is all.

    edit: words are hard

I definitely agree with this for raising kids. On a different note, my college was super in to Halloween and we called it Halloweekend...it was pretty great to get drunk in different costumes for 3 days

Peppermint mochas are a different story.

I'm thinking this must have been discussed before
