I feel like we can probably table this for now as long as 1-2 people are "in charge" and bring it up again around the first of the year.  We can do a week or 2 of sign up, then allow for a week or so to get the pairings sorted out by the end of January.
Thank you. That's a good idea. So sign-up could be January 1 - 8/15, and then official labor buddies will be decided by January 15/22? I don't mind being one of those people if the only responsibility is remembering to start the thread, but I don't have to be if someone else would rather do it.

  • I definitely think 2 weeks of sign up is a good span- it will give people time to get involved and I know some people don't check daily!  I like having a sticky with info go up from Jan 1-8 (so people can start thinking and ask questions), then modified with instructions for who to message their info to from Jan 8-22, close the sticky on the 23rd LB's decided by Jan 31.

    You're so sensible.

  • Whatever works best for whoever's coordinating it! :) I can agree with the two-week sign-up, but as far as the pairing goes, if that person is capable and willing to get it done quickly, I think that should be okay. But I definitely agree about the cut-off time being the 31st. I think as the time approaches, the coordinator can tweak the scheduling as needed. Unless... Are you saying YOU want to be the coordinator, @pineconey!? :) Sounds like you have this thing pretty figured out!

  • @pineconey All superb qualifications. I'm officially nominating you as a coordinator if no one else is dying to do it. And if anything, two people can be co-coordinators. Or three can be co-co-coordinators...

  • Hooray for getting organized and working together.
  • @Emmalou05. We're in very close time zones. We're either +1 or the same depending on your daylight savings. :-D

  • I love you all, would totally do the onesie exchange, if onsies here didn 't cost 20$ a piece. I never buy clothes here. I hope y'all understand. Also, I'd feel terrible if someone had to witness the mail price to get things here. That's a shock no one deserves!!!

  • Great ideas ladies!!! Looking forward to you all keeping me sane during bed rest. Are there any moms of twins that can give me an idea of how crazy the first month is? I am probably having the twins mid march and would hate to commit to a LB and be insane trying to take care if two newborns and a 7 & 10 year old.

@bluebird2318 we quote this all the time. It started at a workshop and we actually accidentally wore pink on Wednesdays numerous times! Hilarious!

ETA: I would love a LB, but it's so hard for me lately to post during the week. I get home late from work, them it's dinner and I am passed out. I try to catch up on the weekend. Still hoping my energy level is going to pick up soon!

  • @christinanoelle - Yup, most of the other boards do this. It's fun to watch the updates from someone as her buddy labors, and then the birth announcement is really cool. It keeps everyone posted without having to wait for the mom to find time to share.

  • So excited for both!  I agree on the feeling that I apparently need to up my game on the bump...between a rough first tri and teaching and chasing a nearly-3-year-old, I'm lucky I remember to do most things let alone check in as much as I want.  I too was usually picked last for kickball and any other sport, either in recess or gym.  Sniffle sniffle.

  • Oh yeah! Well I'm not familiar with Washington much. What would I know? I just think it's pretty neat how we're all spread out and some fairly close.

Where do you live @pineconey? I was born in wa and lived there for about 8 years. All my extended family is in the Bellevue/issaquah area. I was born in Kirkland. It sounds like you live up by chelan with all the sun.
  • @sisimama10 southeastern WA state - i'm a transplant, but i've been here for 3 1/2 years.  DH is a native (we live 5 min from his parents) but i'm hoping to run away to my home state (michigan!) with him and the baby next summer.  i miss the mitten!  every time i go to the west side i'm so thankful to see trees again.

I lived in Michigan too! I went to high school in west Bloomfield. I have lived in eight states, but I've been the longest in il, mi and wa.
  • @sisinmama10 funny!  i grew up near ann arbor and attended college at eastern michigan.  i've lived all over MI, in the northwoods of wisconsin, had a short stint in maryland, and i've been here in wa for awhile.

  • I'm not in WA but I can pretend to be....I'm only 20 min over the border....and I think the majority of the bc gals have mostly dissapeared.

I still consider myself a BC girl even though I don't live there anymore
