Thomas do whatever you feel comfortable with. We can do the random pickings and whomever people choose. I just don't want anyone left out especially with pregnant emotions. Cough I'm a big baby right now cough. Haha

On another social site I used to be on we would do swaps, and someone would just run it. They would gather names, people would pm with address and whether they were ok with international shipping, and if they wanted to be a swap angel. Then people would get assigned to each other, and addresses given to people by PM. So I guess people only participated if they were comfortable giving out addresses, and if they weren't then they just didn't do it.
If there's another way to do it that keeps things anonymous that people want to explore, go for it! I wouldn't be comfortable keeping track of lots of people's info on a system I'm not familiar with, though. If we go old-fashioned, I can organize that one.

@BiggerinRealLife...I just sent out the link in a post just above this one. I think I did it correctly where people just sign up with the link. We'll see how it works!

I like this. It's how we chose roommates in high school for trips, and no one felt left out.

I like this. It's how we chose roommates in high school for trips, and no one felt left out.

I think that's how I've seen it done on other boards. Then the coordinator works it out and then posts a master list, sort of like a Labor Buddy Check-In post to show who all is paired up and make sure nobody is left out. If people join in later, they just post on the check-in, and you can keep pairing people up. We would just have to figure out a coordinator (or a couple who can communicate via e-mail or whatever if it would make it easier to keep it up to date that way).

I hate to be a debbie downer and bring that up, but I'd hate it even more for us to continue with the planning of this, and then (God forbid) someone who was getting so excited and caught up in this had that happen to them. I was thinking this, too... while the worst can happen anytime, maybe wait til we start hitting v-days? I know some pgal ladies have mentioned not wanting to 'jinx' things in regard to other topics.

This exactly. I can see a lot of ladies wanting to participate but feeling more comfortable about doing it later on. I wouldn't want anyone to get left out for this reason. But... what are v-days? Unless you mean Valentine's, but I don't think you do. :-?

I think that's why the post title is thinking ahead. Maybe this would be good to start after the new year? Early enough to figure it out and to take care of early deliveries, I think.

That's hard to say. I'd assume the soonest would be in about a week when every April mama is officially in 2nd tri. You could be a lot more conservative and say not until after anatomy scans, but that wouldn't be for a good 7 or 8 weeks yet for the late April mamas.

@jellysparkles Ohhh, okay! Learn something new every day. I would think at the earliest we would do it when the later April moms have their anatomy scans. I agree with @aviola329 that we should be proactive in thinking about this and be prepared to have a list of our 5 when the time comes. And @SeattleMomma, no one's stopping you from having a BBF (best bump friend) right now!

Just start getting to know your potential LBs right now, and that way you'll have at least four really good friends and one labor buddy! Win-win.

Great! I think someone else should take care of the logistics since that's definitely not a strength of mine. Maybe @WifeofaComposer since you started this whole idea?

Here's what I've gathered so far from everyone's agreed opinions:

Labor buddies will be decided, or at least the process of pairing which should only take a few days hopefully will start around January 9th (for the May 1st moms that have chosen to stick with us! )
We will be thinking of our top 5 potential labor buddies and present our list to the appointed person near that time. (Those who do not have a preference and those who do not match up on anyone else's list will be paired at random.)
A thread needs to be started in the near future to let people know about this to see who's interested and wants to participate. When to start it, and who will start it?

Does that seem accurate?

I feel like we can probably table this for now as long as 1-2 people are "in charge" and bring it up again around the first of the year. We can do a week or 2 of sign up, then allow for a week or so to get the pairings sorted out by the end of January.
