  • @jbbolton My student loans are one of the reasons I wouldn't feel "right" with SAH.

I know DH wouldn't mind, but it seems unfair to force him to pay back my education. On top of it, I would kind of feel like I wasted all that money to SAH. I know I learned a lot in College and it probably makes me a better mom, but sometimes I feel like it wasn't worth the $.

I think LJ phrased it weird. I have associations of Walmart, for instance, because of my experience with my walmart in my hometown. So while at walmart, I wonder if other people are thinking the same of me and feeling consious of it. So LJ has associations of Mickey D's because lets face it, it is unhealthy (and for whatever reason, uneducated and sedentry go with that for her) that she worried she'll be seen as the same that she automatically associates it with.

Thank you Sol. That's exactly what I meant.

  • I side eye "label whores". Don't get me wrong I like nice things. However, I don't care what brand it is. I'm talking the "oh, I won't wear that unless it's Chanel". Like I full on roll my eyes at those people. I like fashion even if it comes from Target (pronounced tar-jee for all you fancies).

Along these lines, I hate when people where monogram LV or Chanel stuff with the logo. First off, if you're that desperate for everyone to see your designer accessories, I side eye you.

Secondly, depending on what else you're wearing, I might assume its counterfeit.

Thirdly, why are you turning yourself into a billboard? I love designer stuff, but I don't like being conspicuous about it. I think it's trashy.

I love my plain black leather Burberry bag, but I don't need it covered in plaid just so everyone knows it's Burberry.

*This post is using the general "you", not calling out anyone specific.*

Chanel doesn't make a monogram print.

I agree that LV, Gucci, etc monogram bags are a bit obnoxious.

I disagree with judging someone to have a counterfeit handbag based on what outfit they're wearing. I have designer handbags and love to wear the boyfriend cardigans from Target almost every day with flip flops and urban outfitters sunglasses that were like $7. I understand a lot of people carry fakes, but unless you can for sure tell if it is, I think at that point it just makes you a hater.

Btw I had a client come into my work about 6 years ago looking a hot mess in a dirty t shirt and shorts and he dropped $400,000 on 2 handbags.

Ooooo, a Burberry handbag? You must be decked out in head to toe fancy designer RTW.

    Seriously?

  • I have a friend that I have known for seven years.... we used to be best friends, and are still really close, but since LO was born I haven't had a lot of time to text back and forth with her like we used to. A couple of times she has texted me ecards with "favorite" Aunt themes referring to herself. She has never met LO (she lives 2.5 hours away, works part time, and doesn't have a lot of funds to use on gas). When she sends me these ecards I change the subject or refuse to acknowledge it, and I don't think she has picked up on it.  LO's Godmother is probably going to be her favorite Aunt because she is around the most, and I feel like my friend is jealous of her because of the relationship that I have with LO's Godmother, and the relationship LO will have with her as well. "Aunt" is a term that is used with LO's Godmother, her actual Aunt (DH's sister in law), and a really good girlfriend of mine who is married to DH's best friend. My confession is that I was on the fence about calling my friend an Aunt, and only did it out of guilt or what she would think if I didn't call her that.

I know Chanel doesn't do a monogram. I said the Chanel logo.

I wouldn't assume someone in Target clothes carrying an LV has a fake. There is a certain "look" I associate with fakes. I think it stems from working in a high end consignment shop and filtering the fakes. I usually do know how to spot them.

I am aware Burberry isn't premier designer, like Lanvin or Hermes, but I was just giving an example.

I have a friend similar and she can call herself auntie if she wants, same with the father of my nephews calling himself uncle. Nothing wrong with having more family and more love in dds life, even if it is sporadic.

My husband has turned me onto country. The new "not real country" stuff to boot. I friggin love it and my early 20s self would shoot me. I grew up obsessed with nirvana, stp, green day and PJ. That I'm blasting Luke Bryan out of my car now is something I never ever thought would happen. Does grunge plaid work as country plaid too?
This made me LOL for a couple reasons - I have always loved country music, but I also was a massive fan of all the bands you mentioned. Especially STP. I still have my CD case in my car and it has all this stuff in it. Yep. I said CD case. I still even buy them. I was rockin' to Interstate Love Song like 2 days ago. Maybe that should be my FFFC.

  • Alright, here's mine for today: I'm a giant purse lady. You know the chick on the bus who's carrying a big ass handbag/messenger bag/tote? That's me. Pre-baby I carried a purse to work every day big enough for an umbrella, my kindle, a huge water bottle, a knitting project, a makeup bag, and occasionally my lunch bag. I didn't let it take over a second bus seat, but if I was a Dick I could have. Now with the diaper bag I just stick my wallet, keys and phone in there and leave most of my crap at home.

I don't even carry a handbag/purse...Whatever you wanna call it. I am rockin' my Thirty One wallet in the PPB City Carryall.

    Go me!
Yep!  I ditched the purse for my PPB Boxy Backpack as soon as I bought it. :) I have a Fossil wallet from the outlet store clearance rack.

Dude. There's a scene in "Just go with it" at the waterfall that Jennifer Aniston is wearing one and I actually tried to google what brand it was because I kinda thought it was cute.

I never could find anything out about it. Boo. I was actually really upset about it.

    Haha

Pisssshhhhh I have no shame in saying that I enjoy my expensive name brand items. I may not have a lot but I love what I've got. I work hard to earn my salary and dammit, I deserve to treat myself every once in a while and sometimes that's with a $1000 bag or an $800 pair of shoes.

Side eye me all you want. :)>-

Is your job hiring?! Lol. I've been eyeing these $225 Tory burch flats but can't bring myself to do it, I just can't justify spending that anytime soon. BUT MAYBE with your job and similar salary
