i notice in a lot of posts lots of you have family several hours away....my parents are 15 minutes away, my inlaws are 5 minutes away. i can't imagine having family/help SO FAR away where they have to actually plan it out to visit you.
16 hour drive or 2 hour plane ride. Loving that my ILs are far away but hating that my parents are so far. My parents are coming for 2 weeks when baby arrives though, wooo!
My family is 20 hours away & my BF's is 4.5 hours away...it sucks to be honest. But I hate cold weather & snow so I did it to myself when I moved to FL 9 years ago.
About 15 minutes away! They can be helpful at times! When I was pregnant with DD they lived in central Fla and I was outside of Raleigh! That was hard!
We are in Wyoming and our Family is in Michigan, Maryland, South Carolina and Florida. I consider it a step up though, considering 2 months ago we lived in Italy! This will be a much cheaper flight
We love in Virginia, my in laws live 30 mins away but my family lives back in the UK. My one brother is hoping to visit this month, my other brother burned up all his leave visiting us in April and my mother is petrified of flying so won't be coming to visit
My mom, MIL, and both brothers live on the same road as us. We literally all live 2 minutes from each other. My sister is 30 minutes and my SIL is less than 10. I love it.
My family is about 3 hours away. It is not too bad, but I hate not seeing them daily. We are very close. I'm under strict instructions to call as soon as I feel even the slightest signs of labor so they can get here. They have their bags packed waiting.
DH's family lives in Sacramento and we are in San Antonio. So they won't be making it down for the birth. He sees them about once a year if that.
I live in Texas and my family lives up in NH. My mom doesn't work so she's already been here a week waiting for her first grandbaby! I don't mind at all... She's been helping me do things like clean the shades and vents which I haven't had time to do since we moved in a couple months ago. My inlaws live 2 hours away and have been driving me NUTS lately.
My mom is about an hour away. But its a commute from NJ to NYC so there can sometimes be some serious traffic. The in-laws are 10hrs away
ETA- But my sister lives in the building next door. That's what really counts. Our buildings are actually attached and we share communal areas. Which means that I don't even have to put on a bra to go over there.
My family live in the UK and my in-laws live about 3 and a half hours away. It makes me chuckle when my sister moans about mum only taking the kids one morning per week... her MIL lives next door too.
My parents are coming to visit in Mid-November. We wanted to be sure the nugget has definitely arrived by the time they make the trek, and that we've had a little bit to adjust to being parents. My MIL would come at the drop of a hat if we needed extra help.
Can I break with the theme and say miles away? MIL is about 5 miles, in city traffic away. My mom is 50 miles away, freeway driving the whole way. My dad passed away years ago but he was with my mom. FIL lives in the same town as my mom, too. All DH's sisters live in our same county, about 5 miles in different directions from us. My brothers are all in different states.
We all live in the "Houston-Area" but depending on time of day it could be considered living in a different state! My fam lives about an 45 minutes to an hour south of us in mine & DH's hometown and my in-laws are currently house hunting in our area and live about 3 minutes away while they search.

Before we moved we were in Austin and our families were north of Dallas (about 3.5-4 hour highway drive) but we are now a full day of travel away (about 10-12 hour plane ride). My mom is coming for a month when the wee one arrives to help out.

Right now both my parents and ILs are 2 hrs away and our siblings are anywhere from an hour to 3 hours away. (I have 3 sisters and a brother and DH has 2 brothers).
Come winter time both of our parents head to Florida - mine for 3 months and DH's for a month.
My mom is going to come stay with us "until I kick her out" after the baby is born and then I'm sure my MIL will want to come stay (that will be limited to a few nights)
It takes about 1 hour to get through the entire state of Rhode Island, and all of my family lives here. My parents are 5 minutes away! My brother and SIL live 20min away
My parents and ILs all live a 14 hr drive away. At least they all live within a half hour of each other, so we make one drive and see everyone.
I really hate living so far away from my parents. I don't necessarily need to live in their backyard, but it would be nice to be within a 5 hr drive for an easy 3-day weekend.
My mom is less than 3 minutes away, sister is 20 minutes away, dad is maybe 30 minutes away and my ILs are about 45 minutes away but come from the opposite side of the city so its always traffic dependent.
My parents, fathers side and dhs mom and moms side are cross country. My moms side, dhs dad and dads side are five hours. We dont have anyone closer then that.We are military so its not by choice.
My in-laws live next door ... Which is a blessing they are the best ! My mom is 40mins away .. Not far but she is handicapped so that makes it a little complicated. I can't complain though some of you ladies have a lot of distance between your loved ones.

Same with my in laws but they are unreliable and selfish so I never really depended on them for any kind of help.
