Re: FFFC?

  • I just spent the whole time I was reading fffc feeding Iz Cheerios and puffs instead of stopping and feeding her breakfast. I'm off to feed her some fruit and veggies.

But she's saying I'm not insecure?

    image

I just don't think it was the best word choice. I don't think that was her intention is what I meant.

Why did you not like the thread? There are plenty of threads I read on here that I don't like because it strikes a chord or hits a nerve with me. Ex: the my kid is too big to RF anymore. I'm not insecure about my kid's weight or my parenting regarding feeding him, but I am sensitive to people talking about a child's weight and implying or saying it could be the parent's fault. Does that make sense or am I rambling?

For yourself or DD? What kind of shoes do you wear with it? How long are you shorts?

I'm intrigued. I don't think I could pull that off.

That's happening.  I am not ready to put it in my siggy because that will make it real.  I am still in shock.  I was sure AF was missing due to weaning.  I want to go to the doctor and get a blood test before we tell our families but I haven't brought myself to call and make one yet.

    Yikes.

Oh yay! Yay! Yay!! I can't wait to see the sibling of your adorable cutie!!! Have a happy and healthy 9 months!!

As much as I love the name Emerson Mae for baby girl, it's been so hard for me to give up the name Sawyer for a girl.  I almost wish I could name her both!  DH doesn't really like Sawyer but he LOVES Emerson (and so do my sisters/mom, and while I'd pick a name they didn't like without a problem, I do value their opinion) so Emerson it is.

    But I want Sawyer too!

ETA: And I don't like the name Emerson Sawyer, so that won't work.  Guess I'll be naming my next dog Sawyer ;)
Emerson is the name we have for our hypothetical girl name. I heard it like 12ish years ago and fell in love with it! I'm kind of pissed its getting so popular (<-nothing to do with you of course.) The good news is that it isn't popular around here! Love the name and I'm sure once that baby girl comes you'll know it fits!

I don't really find it to be popular at all!  It's still 244 on SSA and it seems to be going up and down over the past few years.  I only know one person IRL with that name for their daughter. And I agree with you... once she is born we wouldn't be able to imagine any other name on her, I'm sure.

I hope you get to use it! ;)
Thank you! Although for some reason I'm convinced I'm having a boy next go around! I know its higher on the SSA list. Maybe it was the name board or way back when S12 was naming hypothetical babes. Emerson came up quite a few times! Congrats again!

They are the best. I'm 100% in favor of leggings as pants.
I feel like such a hypocrite because I legitally side-eyed people that wore them before. I just hated the way they looked. But zomg is it ever so comfy. I don't give a damn. I do what I want ;) #yolo
I don't especially mind them with a long shirt or sweater over them, because then they're being worn as leggings. But when I can see your rear end, and it has thin black fabric clinging to its crevices, I'm going to be one part staring and one part uncomfortable. Leggings =/= pants. I'm standing by my UO.

Me too! I have some stuff for cooler winter that they got for their birthday. But nothing great for right now. I filled up my old navy cart the other day when they were having huge sales and it was like $50 and would have been perfect. I was too overwhelmed to hit purchase and now that same cart is $125. Grrrrrr. I am HORRIBLE about making clothing purchases for the girls.

I think Old Navy is having 30% off all baby stuff in store if you have one close!  I took advantage of Carter's sale this last week and got her some awesome stuff for cheap!

ETA: it is 40% off in store!  Might be worth the trip!

I find myself judging the moms at daycare who are in gym clothes. Not because they are in gym clothes and dropping their LOs off at daycare. It is solely because I am jealous that they are going to the gym and I wish I had that kind of time.

The supermom thread also bugged me and made me feel like I should be more put together and do more for my kid than I already do when I'm just trying to keep my head above water, I imagined others felt like that too.
Hell, some days I feel like I'm barely keeping my head above water too.....FTR I'm the OP for the supermom thread.  The purpose of the thread was to make someones day, in one form or another.  I think people that did not like the thread may have felt certain feelings based on insecurities in their own parenting styles.  Personally, I know I've got a lot of work to do in the patience department and I'm pretty damn good at sticking to a routine for LO.  However, it feels good to be complimented, and one thing I'm trying to work on is giving more compliments when they pop in my mind instead of keeping them in my mind.  I am well aware that some posters may have gotten mentioned based on the amount of times they post or based on the content they post.  But if you can make it look damn good, I'm gonna give you a shout out.  I know there are plenty of bumpies that are doing a "super" job but may be more introverted or private, but the later posts that gave props to military families, single moms, SAHM moms etc....gave props to them too.

On another personal note, I feel very insecure about my life (parenting style, decorating style, house maintenance, financial goals etc) after reading blogs of certain moms.  But I am aware that we all have strengths and weaknesses; and I keep it in the back of my mind when reading posts by these bloggers.  At the end of the day, as long as you are aware of your strengths and weaknesses and are making strides to improve in certain areas, that you're doing just fine.  You're NOT barely keeping your head above water.
    image
Hence, the reason for the bold font on the word 'may' in the OP.

"I think that people that did not like the thread may have felt certain feelings based on insecurities in their own parenting styles."

    In other words.....

May --> coming from the word maybe --> meaning either yes or no.

  • Way late to the game here. Hannah's one year appointment was nearly 2 hours of pure hell. Apparently she inherited one thing from me, my tiny ass good-for-nothing veins. They had to make 3 pokes to hit a vein for her blood draw. She was screaming and crying the whole time, and all of this after her 3 shots.

I always wonder what people think I do since I drop off the kids in yoga pants and flip flops pretty much every day. I wonder if anyone thinks I'm a SAHM with 2 kids in daycare.
I've been wearing yoga pants and a sweater when I drop DD off on Mondays, since that's the day I work from home. DH would die if he saw me, since he knows I firmly believe that yoga pants/tights should not be worn as real pants.

I'm sorry @eshee8198 but we cannot be friends. I firmly believe yoga pants should be the only acceptable form of bottoms. Tights are a different story.
I guess my FFFC is that I have often worn yoga pants and tights as regular pants.

    I have 2:

I used a dryer sheet with all of DD's clothes I washed from her bday party.  Her skin should be tougher now and I'm not dealing with static!!

I ordered $85 worth of Gymboree clothes when someone posted the sale on here.  They shipped me the same exact order twice.  I'm keeping the clothes and the gym bucks.  DH said all monopoly style "the bank made an error in your favor."
I have been using dryer sheets for months. I usually lump all our wash together anyway and have found that my skin is more sensitive than hers.

As for the Gymboree, my conscience would KILL me. I equate that to theft even if it wasn't intentional. I have had that happen to me twice before and both times when I called the company, they let me keep everything anyway,
Gymboree probably would let you keep it anyway. There was a mixup with a bathing suit I ordered DD this summer. The top and bottom were two different sizes. When I called to see about swapping one of the pieces, their customer service rep was so nice and just told me they were sending an entirely new suit and that I should consider donating the other pieces.

Okay, when are we doing that shopping trip?

    When I hit the lottery?

I def do need some hat shopping though. I can do a mini shopping trip for those with you and Penny included!

I will warn you, the last shopping trip to a mall with the girls resulted in two major sh*t explosions and me needing to buy new outfits for the girls. I had the ladies at gymboree scouring the racks for sale items to make outfits that coordinated but didn't match while the girls were hanging out half nakey. Of course this didn't happen at the same time either.

A blew up her diaper, I got her cleaned up (in the middle of the mall) while she was screaming and H was also screaming her head off. Went to gymboree found sale items to make an outfit.Left the store.

H blew up diaper. Repeat steps above except trying to find an outfit that also coordinated with Annie's. Disaster. Pretty sure my picture is posted in some back wall at gymborees across the nation to watch out for me.

This was when they were 4 months old. I think I have a little better hang of this whole mom thing now.....Some days....

I am in, if only for the excitement. And I am definitely not laughing at the thought of the girls hanging out half naked while you looked for emergency clothes. I do love that you still tried to coordinate them though.
