So today I was speaking with someone at work today who told me that he and his wife are going through IVF. I was able to ask him somewhat relevant questions "What cycle are you on?" (3), "Frozen donor eggs or fresh?" (fresh) etc.
The real kicker though, was when he was talking about the transfer...
"So in a few days we'll have the transfer and then..." and he paused. A pained look crossed his face... he couldn't even say the words.
I just whispered "The two week wait..." The look he gave me was so mixed, but there was a relief there that I knew the term, that I'd heard of that terrible fortnight of waiting.
Before this site I'd never heard of it before. Before knowing and caring for you ladies I wouldn't have been able to engage in that conversation and provide him some modicum or fraction of understanding. People don't know about this stuff, and I can't imagine how lonely it must be. You are all great. And even though I won't start my own TTC journey for several months, you've all taught me so much that the whole way I approach conception has changed.
TL/DR: This site has taught me a lot. What has it taught you?
Re: NTTGP: This board has changed me! What has it taught you?
The good: My body.
The bad: I can't count how many dear friends and passers by have experienced miscarriage. I had no idea it was so for lack of a better term "common".
The ugly: IF, no one ever thinks it will be them. But it can be anyone.

It has taught me about the importance of BBT charting (along with OPKs), especially with irregular cycles like mine. It also has taught me that many other women in the world are experiencing tough times and are longing for their BFPs and that getting pregnant doesn't always happen as easily as it seems it should.
I enjoy all the ladies on this board. I enjoy the honesty, even if it hurts to hear at the time. It keeps us all in check.
