When did your morning sickness end?

Re: When did your morning sickness end?

  • Some of these answers scare me!! I just passed 13 weeks and I really thought I might have been finished with most of the bad morning sickness. I still get a little queasy in the evening sometimes but I figured it was on its way out! Then today has been pretty terrible, and my zofran didn't do much... And now I have heartburn.. Haha I guess if it's not one thing, it's another! I suppose the good news is that the bulk of it is over (I hope..)

This is exactly how I feel about this post. I was the sucker who believed the time line that nausea would go away this week. I'm 12 weeks today (with twins) and it's worse this week than ever. My sister had nausea until week 20 with all three of hers. I don't think I can handle another 6 weeks of this! I used to take 1 Zofran a day now I'm definitely taking 2 a day. This sucks! I was really looking forward to joining this board and getting to the second trimester. :(

  • I feel your pain... Still puking at 17 weeks. Some days are ok but I'm mostly drained and sleepy. Fall asleep right after work. Dry heave and gag all thru the day. It's been no fun!
  • I'm basically 16 weeks now and it's still just as bad as it was before.. I try and eat through it but it's getting harder and harder to eat.

  • I'm 16 weeks and mine is........GONE!! I love it. I don't even need to take my Reglan or Zofran anymore. I think mine really started to dwindle at 14 weeks.

Pregnant with #3, after thee, three's complete!!
  • Morning sickness is much better at 24 weeks this time. However, during my first pregnancy I developed a very sensitive gag reflex that I still have. That was 2005...

  • Mine mostly stopped @ 16 weeks but I still have food & smell aversions & occasionally gag and throw up if something grosses me out :(

  • Pretty much it left once I had 13 weeks. Everybody is different though.

  • I had bad nausea 24/7 (no vomit) from weeks 6-12.
  • I had nausea and exhaustion monster in afternoon/night. I love to cook but couldn't cook a single thing! Not until mid week 10, I'm 12 weeks now and nausea has gone completely. It slowly released from week 10. It seems I got away lightly!
  • I had morning sickness from around week 7 to now (week 24). It's much more contained now. I used to throw up one to three times a day, after month 5 (week 20) it's been once or twice a week. Still can't drink anything carbonated, get too full, can't drink milk and can't eat ice cream or I'll immediately throw up. Just as I'm trying to get a handle on the vomitting, my heartburn's been getting worse every day :(
  • I seem to be going through cycles, like today I haven't gotten sick once, but yesterday I was in the shower throwing up constantly to the point I actually ran out of hot water. Husband was shocked how much I was throwing up..

  • I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. My morning sickness didn't stop until 28-29 weeks. At that point the nausea/vomiting was replaced with heartburn. I'm now 38 weeks and on Zofran and Zantac for heartburn and nausea. It will get better. I was in and out of the hospital at least once a week at the beginning. But the end result will be well worth it. :)

  • I wasn't totally over it until about 18.5 weeks. I don't have nausea anymore, but now my stomach is super sensitive and I throw up easier if something taste bad or I get too full or if something just doesn't sit right in my stomach.

  • My nausea is gone (went away completely at ~15 weeks), but I've been noticing that I get really full on a small amount of food.  I get hungry again, but I have to eat small amounts throughout the day instead of normal sized meals.
  • I went to my normal doctor and he put me on heart burn medication and my sickness went away within two days, I was amazed and pissed that my OB didn't even think to try this medication when I told her a week or so earlier that I was still getting sick constantly.

But now i'm like you Reddvl I can't eat a lot.. have to eat small meals all the time.

  • I have HG and am still going strong, though earlier than you. If I remember right, 13 weeks is about average for normal m/s to end and 20 weeks is average for HG, though a percentage last throughout pregnancy.
  • Oh, should have read the replies. I see it's old and you have figured it out. :)
  • Mine didn't die down til about 13 weeks, but I still have my days. Mine never really "goes away." Today my tummy is sour.  :-S

When you told me this on my post about morning sickness, I thought I would give it a try! I take a Pepcid every night now and I haven't been sick since. Thank you sooooo much for sharing that, it has made my life so much easier!! Although funny you mention not being able to eat much, I'm full after 3 bites of anything now.. But I would much rather deal with this than getting sick all the time!

  • 11 weeks...the morning after I got the courage to tell my father, coincidentally.
  • I still have it occasionally, but it ended for the most part around 14 weeks. Good luck! Hope your's ends soon!

I'm glad that you found it worked for you! I was taking tums and stuff before hand but it only seemed to help a little. I have always trusted this primary care doctor since I got here, he hasn't steered me wrong and he told me about how his wife was the same way with four of their five children and that was what worked for her.

I talked to my dad and one of my friends who is a certified nurse and both told me the same thing when it came to eating. We were sick so often and holding down so little our stomachs would have shrunk and we were basically in 'starvation mode' It will take time to regain our ability to eat like we have. It's been about a week now and for the first time ever I was able to polish off an entire steak and the next day polish off almost an entire meal at Ihop. It's still an once a day deal I try to do more and forget it.. but as long as you keep eating just a little more it should help stretch it back out
