If the older kid hits the younger kid and you don't see it, do you still discipline the older kid?

This has happened a few times and I usually just give G a warning.  Because I didn't actually see it, I'm not 100% certain thats what happened.  When I ask G, obviously he'll say he didn't do anything.  Now, I'm starting to think that G understands if he can hit B on the sly, he won't get in trouble.

What do you guys do?

    if i dont see it, but im sure he did it, he gets a "break". aka time out.  but he always admits it :)

    Same. I usually say something like "things are getting too crazy, guess we're done with [insert activity or toy here]". If I know he did something mean on purpose he gets a break too.

    Ditto.
    Also it takes a lot to get J really upset sooooo if he's crying then A almost always has done "something" whether its hitting/pushing or taking a toy away. Only warnings A gets is if I see him about to push or hit etc otherwise he does time out, even if it doesn't make the baby cry.

    or you could look at it as ours are.  oliver is more like "ya, i hit him, he mad me mad", in a "of course i did it, he deserved it" kind of way.
