Do you shower every day? and when?

While I shower every day, I sometimes only wash my hair every other. It just gets too dry if its washed daily. I also am a night time shower person. So, when, and how often do you shower?

Re: Do you shower every day? and when?

  • It used to be every day, but now that I'm not working and really just sitting on my butt most of the time I usually just do every other if I don't have anywhere to go. I cannot shower and not wash my hair (it's just a thing), so I originally started EOD just so I'd stop over washing my hair.

I wish I didn't have to wash my hair everyday! I have A LOT of curly, frizzy hair (takes 40 min to blow dry), but I work in a nasty, smelly shop. I come home everyday smelling like oil and my hair just sucks it right up. If I even lay my head on my pillow for even a minute without washing my hair then the smell has clung to my pillow. Ugh.

I shower ever other day. Unless there's a day that I've done a lot of house work, worked a catering job, or it's particularly warm and I spent the entire day sweating.

I can't shower without washing my hair either, and I don't like to wash my hair every day. I have extremely thick hair and if I washed it ever day, it would be a frizz factory not to mention dry as hell.

EDIT: I shower at night on weeknights and at any time of day on the weekends.

  • I shower every other day, unless more is needed. Sleep is more important.

I shower in the morning, and I sometimes remember to brush my hair before leaving the house (depending on my current style). I now keep a brush in my car. DH usually takes care of the kids, so I wake up as late as possible to still make it to work on time.

  • I was totally gonna ask this question this morning! I answered every other day. I prefer evening showers, but I take them whenever I have a chance. Today it was this morning with the baby gate in the door and my daughter screaming at me the whole time....it was oh so relaxing. :P

  • M - F, I shower and wash my hair every day, first thing in the morning.  Saturday and Sundays, who knows.  I will typically at least shower because I start to feel gross and can't stand it.  I might not wash my hair.  Very rarely, if we aren't going anywhere and I'm feeling especially lazy, I might not shower one weekend day, but not both.

  • I'm a bath person and selected every other day. I also only condition my hair as shampoo is the devil for my curls.

  • I take a shower twice a day. I feel like I need the morning shower to wake me up and I sleep better when I take a hot shower before bed. I've been this way since I was a kid... two showers a day.

  • I shower 1-2 times a day (before and after going to the dance studio usually), but only wash my hair twice a week. It would be a frizzy 'fro if I washed it more frequently.
  • I shower at night and almost every day.  If I don't have anything the next day, I'll wait and shower that day (i.e. I will shower Thursday night but won't shower Friday night and wait and shower Saturday morning before I go out... if that makes sense).

  • It depends on the season.  If I shower everyday in the winter, it makes my skin hurt.  In the summer I shower daily (sometimes twice daily if I am doing farm work or something similar).

Usually I shower in the afternoon/early evening as soon as DH gets home from work.

  • I voted every other day, but it's really more like every 36 hours. I don't usually like to get up earlier to shower on the days I work in the morning, so I shower the night before. Then the days I'm home in the morning, I like to shower. For the most part, that works out to every 36 hours.

    LOL Just kidding ;))

I'm actually jealous of your ability to stick to a routine like that. I shower every other day, unless I'm having a banging hair day, then I'll stretch it another day. I usually have to wrench myself out of bed to shower and I can't sleep with wet hair.

  • It would be so nice not to have to shower daily, but I have to!  My hair is so fine & thin that if I don't it looks terrible & oily. I have been wanting to look into waxing, but til I get around to that I have to shave daily too - ick! At least in the winter I get to skip my legs for most of the week, but I cannot skip my underarms.. no way.

  • On average it's every day in the morning. I may skip a day if I didn't do anything to warrant a shower, but I prefer to get one because I feel better after having one.

  • I shower daily when not pregnant... now its a battle between feeling ill froIm the heat and humidity as well as not wanting to get out of bed.  However, I really SHOULD wash my hair daily, I can go about 30-ish hours before you can see the oil in my hair.

  • I shower daily and always before bedtime. I like feeling squeaky clean when getting into my sheets. But I wash my hair every 2days. And before I was pregnant I would take (pre-shower) baths. all. the. time. The hotter the better, and usually like 45mins long (i read and sipped on wine). sometimes I would even pull in a chair and watch a show on my computer.

i will miss those times when baby comes.

  • @dhviel - I'm intrigued by the baking soda and vinegar combo to wash your hair. What are its benefits (i'm guessing shinier hair) and do you shampoo it out afterwards (doesn't vinegar smell too strong?)

  • I shower every other day (more often if I'm really stinky, but I can usually get by with just a "bird bath" at the sink with a wash cloth on the off days).  But I can now go 3-4 days without washing my hair.  It's gotten significantly less greasy since becoming pregnant!  I love it. :)

  • In this pregnancy, I can shower every other day and get away with it, because my hair isn't nearly as oily.

Typically though, its every day, in the AM.

@goldenB I started in the spring. It's much healthier for your hair then shampoo and stops the overproduction of oil. I haven't used shampoo in months and I used to have to wash my hair every day because it was so greasy. Now I can easily go 4 or 5 days without washing. When I get back to my laptop I'll post a link.

  • I have to wash my hair everyday. I just do - there is just a yucky feeling I get when I've tried to do every other - but I think it's bc my hair gets too oily if I don't.

I put once a day - bc thats the norm. however im ok with not showering one day if we arent going anywhere. DH showers 2-3 times a day. He thinks its the grossest thing ever that I can go a day without showering haha.
  • Shower every day to every other day. Depends on what I'm doing. Sometimes I plan out my showers so I can skip a day and then shower on a day I know I'm going out or whatever. Sometimes I skip washing my hair, sometimes I don't. Kinda depends. No real schedule or consistency that I can figure out.
  • Daily - whenever I can :) usually during DD's nap at lunch time.  If I don't shower every day my hair looks like I've gone a week without showering.  Thanks to pregnancy :) when I'm not pregnant I can easily get away with every other day unless I worked out or did something that made me sweaty.
