Insomnia Post 9/13 edition

I was shocked not to see an insomnia post for tonight. Yay for you ladies if you are actually sleeping. I am jealous. Yes, I am lame sauce for starting the insomnia post without having anything cool to say. I guess I will recap some stuff that happened here yesterday: - white knighting is not the cool new thing to do. You will just make people more angry. - there are a ton of babies that are being born every day on here. I know a few things about this:'I don't know half the moms who are posting their child's birth, None of them are mine, and I am pretty sure half the board will say who is this happybride chick posting about her birth..don't know who,she is. - posting about food can be pretty mean since @kimberlymacrae hasvGD, but she is cool enough to forgive us. Anyone have anything good to share?

9/13 is my birthday and I was born on a Friday the 13th! My parents say its a lucky day for our family now. I have been having contractions every day for a week and a bunch of OWT type of labor signs (emptying bowels, vomiting, feeling like I have a cold) and no labor. I totally want him to stay inside longer, but if all these random things could go away I would be a much happier lady. I don't want to have pre-labor for weeks. My mom is making me my favorite enchiladas for dinner tomorrow and my dad is baking me a cake with his awesome homemade frosting. Sorry Kimberly!

GIFSoup. I don't know how you ladies have been dealing with contractions for weeks. It has been going on three days for me and I am done. They aren't regular enough to go in, but uncomfortable enough that I can't do much at all. Hopefully, you will deliver that baby soon of e symptoms will go away. Can I say that one of my favorite things on earth is home made icing. I prefer box cake vs, home made cake (unless its from a real bakery), but home made sugar frosting makes me excited. Enjoy dinner and desert!

    Oh goodness. The twerking.

It's yellow box cake with homemade chocolate frosting, and it's the best thing EVER.

Yellow box cake is my absolute favorite! I can eat it with no icing at all...

    Happy birthday!

  • Our internet went down randomly about 10 minutes ago.  I panicked because what the hell would I do if with insomnia without internet access?  Thankfully, I am very tech savy (I turned the router off and back on) and now I am up and running again.  Yup.  Feeling real proud of myself right now.

  • Not sleepy either :( I'm watching this movie on Hulu titled hard candy it's kind of crazy....I want some ice cream but I don't have any. I'm tired of having to pee every 15 mins and I just wish I didn't have to work tomorrow.
  • @Dee2588 Total props to you ladies who are dealing with insomnia and still working every day! I really don't think I could do it!

  • Happy Birthday, Loppy! Mine is Sep 29! Hope my baby comes on a different day, half for me, half for him or her. Everyone should have their own birthday!

    Let's see, as for me:
-I haven't attempted bed yet. It's only 11:20 so that's okay, I guess. I just finished the "formula is the same as giving your child pepsi" post, which was cray.
-I've already had my bag of popcorn and some Mike n Ikes this evening, but I have a feeling I'm not done grazing.
-For some reason I've been peeing like a mofo tonight! Like, seriously eight times in the last two hours! Ridic!
-I emailed a doula collective to get mine lined up! I hope they have someone for me, I did really kind of wait until the last minute to do it, but I JUST learned that they're super willing to barter in lieu of charging the $600, and DH is willing to do some carpentry stuff for them, so I'm pretty excited.

  • @HBirdie - Good luck on the dula!  I am sure you can get an arrangement made.  I bet they get last minute calls all the time.

Thanks! I hope so! Fingers crossed. My mom (who is going to be in the delivery room) is against me getting a doula, I think because she feels like it's me saying that her and DH aren't enough support, buuuut I've just heard of so many women having more positive birth experiences because of them. And they'll be a little more knowledgable about medical stuff and also BF'ing than either my mom or DH will be. So I think it'll be a good thing.

Congrats on getting your internet back up! I'd probably cry if mine went down, especially at night. I guess I could read a book, but the lamp being on bothers DH so then I'd have to go on the couch or something.

    Ooooh, whatcha watching?

Related, does anyone know where I can watch Friends online? I've been dying to watch it, and the website I used to use got shut down (yeah, yeah, I'm a terrible person and sometimes I go to sites that may not be fully legal and watch shows). I don't want to download anything to watch it, but I'm dying for some Chandler in my life.

  • @HBirdie - I just saw the one where Phoebe and Monica found out Rachel was pregnant.  I love that part of the episode.  It was where Phoebe told Rachel her pregnancy test was negative just so Rachel can see how she really feels and Rachel, through tears, says it was a risky move.  So cute!

My second favorite (after Ross spray tan) is the one where Phoebe tries to teach Joey how to speak French.  LOVE IT!  Actually, that might be my favorite.

I've been watching the Cooking Channel. Naturally it is making me want to eat, all things I don't have, of course!

  • @happybride 276 @HBirdie I LOVE the episode where Rachel sees the baby on the u/s but sees nothing. They keep pointing out parts to her and she just cries that she can't see it. Lol.

  • Sooo, unrelated, but I've been sitting here on my computer for over an hour and feeling lots of baby movement, and I've had to pee like twice as often as usual. I just sat back to let my belly breathe a little and I put my hands on my stomach, and now that I think about it, this feels different than usual. I wonder if I'm having some mild BH's?? I've never had contractions before, but maybe! This is so weird! Should I start a new thread to ask about it? JK JK. ;)

But seriously this is cool. I mean, I don't want to deal with contractions for the next two weeks, but at the same time, my body is doing something different and it feels exciting!

  • @HBirdie - you should like totes start a thread and then when people respond saying its probably BH...you should def just keep being worried and not accepting their thoughtful advice. That would be like totes adorbs! X_X

I just got done reading the cervical check thread...can ya tell? Lol.
    BabyFetus Ticker BabyFruit Ticker
  • @HBirdie You should totally start a new thread! Just make sure to include a question about, and maybe even a picture of your mucus plug!

Seriously, though, it is pretty exciting when you feel something new and different!

Ha, yep! I should definitely do that. And I'll make sure and reassure everyone that after I talk to my midwife, I'll come back and post what she says so that everyone else can be informed. You're WELCOME for making you smarter!

LOL.  Agree with @mrskeyte9 - totally worth it's own post!
On a serious note - I know exactly what you mean.  When I first started getting contractions I felt like my body was finally prepping for birth.  It felt so good to feel like my body really knew what it was suppose to do, and (even though I know this makes no sense) I felt like it reduced my fear of being induced.  Now that I have had contractions that I could time 5 to 7 minutes a part along with random painful ones I don't think they are so awesome.  It's been going on for almost 48 hours and it has lost it's novelty.  LOL  I hope this does not happen to you.  I hope you are able to keep the excitement of them.

Firecrackers? Lol. I think it's just limbs moving around your organs and "popping" off your ribs or something. Or at least that's all I can come up with?

Really?  I have never heard of that before.  I can't even begin to think of what it could be.  The only pops I get are from my back or hips when I move (usually when I am laying down)

I think someone posted a thread about this a while back and an OB told one poster that it was the baby's joints popping. I have had this happening the past few days and it completely weirds me out. I never experienced it with DD!

Seriously, WTF is her deal?  I give her credit for not flying off the handle, but what did she expect pregnancy to be like at 15 weeks.  The first half of pregnancy is much easier than the second half (in my experience).  By easier I mean there isn't the movement count worries, extreme discomfort, super huge belly, etc.  My first half came with its own set of challenges, but at least I could work then.  Now I am a big waste of space.

What I don't get is her whole "does it get more magical?" questions?! Was it not magical enough that you and your DH bumped uglies to create a human?? Is it not magical enough that you were ABLE to create a human??
