I don't think we've ever done a GTKY about our houses. How about it? I'm an HGTV junkie and love this kind of thing!
So, do you rent or own? Townhouse, single family home, etc? Ranch, two-story, tri-level...? Does your house have a particular style (mid-century, colonial, etc)? How many bedrooms and baths? Have you done any renovations? Include anything else you may want to share! PIPs are a bonus.
Re: GTKY: Your home
We own a single family 2 story home. Currently it's for sale. Lol We're wanting to buy a house with more land or build a home on more land. We have an acre now but we have close neighbors.
Our home is 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. All of the bedrooms are upstairs. We utilize 3 of the bedrooms now. We have ours, my SS's, and we use one for an office.

We rent, but it's set up like a townhouse: kitchen, dining room, living room on the first floor and two bedrooms (one of which is currently an office) + bathroom on the second floor. We've been keeping an eye on the available houses for sale, but we love living in our neighborhood and like I said a good deal is hard to find here. We're comfortable though so we have plenty of time and patience to wait it out.

Balaustine: an anthology about wanting family
I don't have pictures of the house without kids in it.
Last year we put a new roof on and tomorrow we get a new a/c unit. I am done with the remodeling, although DH wants to someday refinish the basement. If we ever have another kid we will have to move to a bigger house. Our plan is to move, within the next 5 years.
We are planning on buying my FIL's house probably next fall. I also have a dilemma though b/c when I told my mother this (for about the 16th time, probably) she acted like she had no idea and started playing off the idea that I should buy their house. The house I live in now and have for almost my entire life. It is definitely better than FIL's house, more space, better for children AND we have a pool. Something I am NOT ok with giving up! So I am faced with this dilemma of what will happen when my parents are ready to sell their house. Ugh.

We replaced the shed and also those pile of old brinks are no longer there... they where used to build the new shed.
Finished basement... which includes a computer room and large great/family room... we never go in our real living room anymore...

We renovated every room in our current home and will renovate the new house completely before we move in. My husband is a contractor and has to have all finishing touched done by him.

We own, our house is a sinlge family ranch, one level with a full basement, three bedrooms and one bath.
Our house was a foreclosure but in awesome shape...it just needed a little TLC (taking down ugly curtains and border, painting) and very few minor repairs (added extra smoke alarms, fixed some siding on the garage) before we moved in.
We've been working on small renovations in the four years we've lived there....I painted one of the spare bedrooms and made it into a home office, changed out some light fixtures in the kitchen like the old outdated chandalier and hung a pretty new one, I painted and laid some self-stick carpet tiles in one end of the basement to make a home gym, and MH drywalled in another end and made a man cave.
Last summer we ripped out all of the overgrown landscape in the front yard, and a couple months ago we redesigned the garden wall and put in all new landscape.
We just bought, and are waiting on installation of our new patio sliding door (old one is super old, heavy and the seals are broken) and this winter we plan on pulling up the old linoleum floors in the kitchen and putting down new vinyl tiles with grout (we were going to do ceramic tile but it's too cold on your feet). If we have the time, I'd also like to get a new counter top and kitchen sink. Our current counter is white corian. The owner before us used the counter as a cutting board so there are tons of cuts all over it, and the white stains so easily and for weeks. The sink is made out of the same material (it's all one piece) so my sink always looks filthy.
I'd love a darker colored counter top that doesn't stain (MH comes home very dirty, there should be no white in our house) and a stainless steel sink.

We own a 3 story, 3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom townhouse. We don't have much land, but the community owns a huge open field in the back. We are about to rehab the master bath and possibly add a half bath in the basement.
We can't wait to move though. I want a house with some land. In the MD/DC area everything is 700k+ and we are trying to wait out the market a bit more before we sell. Sigh.

When we moved in, we tore out the very damaged carpet and kitchen wood floor and replaced with laminate flooring. Then last year, we had a slab leak and replaced all the flooring again with hickory hardwood flooring. Since my husband and my dad did all the work, insurance covered the upgraded cost and then some. This year we remodeled the kitchen, which took the better part of the year doing all the work ourselves. We refinished the oak cabinets in a dark finish with new cabinet doors/drawer fronts and replaced the white tile counter with granite. We also got some great clearance deals on tiles for the back splash. It was a lot of fun but so much more work than we were able to imagine going into it. Now we're just finishing up replacing the vanity/counter with granite in the hall bath. Then we're at a stopping point.

We've owned our 4 bedroom, 2 bath ranch since May 2011. It was one of the very first houses we looked at. It was empty and had been on the market for over 100 days. It was built in 1960, had one owner, and needed some work. Nothing we couldn't handle though. The carpet was new throughout, new roof, new furnace, new laminate wood flooring in the kitchen/dining room, new beautiful wood cased windows... The bathrooms were original though, the kitchen needs some updating and a good amount of wallpaper needed stripped. But we fell in love. We didn't think we'd find a 4 bedroom house in our price range. The house is a few houses up the street from the house my dad grew up in so I was familiar with the neighborhood. It's quiet, with a lot of young couples with kids and elderly people. Since we moved in, we've painted nearly every room and this may DH as my dad gutted our main bathroom. It was all mint green--tile, bathtub, toilet, sink. It looks amazing now. Our master bathroom is a pink/beigh tile and sink with a small stand up shower, so that one is next on the list. Then the kitchen is last. Both aren't awful though and I can live with for a few more years!
Here's a pic of my house and newly renovated bathroom (that I'm madly in love with). Sorry I can't figure out how to flip the bathroom pics!!

We own a 4 bedroom, 2 ½ bath house that was built in 1906. It is 3500 sq. feet before you add in the basement and attic which are unfinished but usable (basement has our laundry room, workout room, DH’s wood working room, and our two car garage). We currently block off parts of the house to save on energy because we barely use the sitting room or second dining room with just the two of us. We use one bedroom as a guest room, one as an office, the master bedroom is obviously ours, and we are converting our “pets” room into the nursery! The only thing we’ve really done since buying it was paint a few bedrooms. The kitchen needs painted desperately as it still has this hideous border with the 1990’s fruit and flowers (makes me dizzy looking at it) but we have not wanted to tackle until at least the fall.
Funny story that happened this week: a bat flew in from the chimney (we assumed because the house was locked down) and was flying around the kitchen Tuesday morning. I went in all sleepy eyed to get my morning cereal and immediately started screaming as this huge black bat is circling the room and my head. DH not out of bed yet, hears me screaming, assumes I am being attacked by an intruder, comes running down the stairs wearing boxers and ready to take on the world with only a shower rod we had in the bedroom to be thrown away! I went from being scared out of my wits to laughing so hard I peed! Best Tuesday morning ever. We still haven’t figured out how to prevent bats.
Cape Cod, 2 story
We live in the country. Our house is on 40 acres and we have an additional 20 acres down the road (we grow pumpkins on it!)
We also have a big fish pond and a barn. i love our house! Only thing I would change is that I wish the master was on the 2nd floor (it's on the main floor....common with cape's i guess!)
After 2 years, Injects, PCOS diagnosis and 2 IUI's, we were blessed with our beautiful twin girls!
Baby Girl #3!
We own a 3 br 2 bath 2 story house with a finished basement. The house was built in 1945 and an addition was added to the back in the 90's. We have lived here for 4 years and we have majorly redecorated every room in the house except the basement that was finished the year before we bought it. We did a complete gut of the upstairs, formal living room and dining room. We're about to gut our kitchen and do a complete remodel.
It's not huge, but works for us. We got a fantastic deal on the house. We bought from the original owners who were retiring to NC and they just wanted a fair price. For the MD/DC we couldn't ask for a better house for the price.
