I really don't like it when people bring their dogs (or any animals) to the grocery store. Please leave them at home...away from my clean, sanitary food.
Like inside the store? Grocery stores actually allow this?!? The only stores I've seen that welcome pets are home deopt and petco.

If it's not hot out our dog comes with us but stays in the car. She loves car rides and being around us.
Stores don't actually allow it. In fact, I had worked in a store that had a sign on the door that said no pets except for seeing eye dogs. People did it anyway. I actually had to kick one woman out cause she brought in a purse dog and a German Shepard without a leash. They walked to the store from their house. WTF? In what world was this okay? ETA: before I'm flamed, I followed protocol and asked if the German Shepard was a service dog. Her response was that he was "purebred and medaled show dog." She had to go.
I worked in a grocery store during college. I remember one lady (an employee) bringing in her new dog in a purse and staying for about 2 minutes. There were dogs that snuck in through the automatic doors several times but for the most part the only dogs in the store were service dogs.

Oh and once some lady brought in a STINKY monkey. The monkey was in some sort of contraption that looked like a hamster ball. I think she was ushered through checkout and asked not to bring the monkey back...oh man, that thing reeked!

I think it's wrong for families to keep guns in their house. And I super judge moms who carry them around in their purses. (I only realized a week ago how unpopular this opinion is...maybe because I'm Canadian?lol)

Please elaborate on why you feel it is wrong for a family to keep guns in their house.
    Unsafe and unnecessary.

@Kismc I understand where you are coming from, as I am Canadian living in the US. I don't see it as wrong, but it definitely still feels strange to me, because I did not grow up with that kind of situation. It's a culture shock, I guess.

However, my experience is that as long as people are responsible gun owners, it can be safe. And in terms of unnecessary, well the problem is that there are 300 mill guns in the US, so you have to assume that everyone else has one. In Canada, absolutely unnecessary. But when I am walking around the streets where I live, I don't know who has a gun, and that makes me afraid. I can only assume others feel the same way.

I am a Canadian living in Canada (British Columbia) and the idea of people having guns in their home is not weird in the least to me. I know many, many people who have guns in their homes (most of whom use them for hunting, and all of whom store them in gun safes). I wouldn't bat an eye hearing someone has a gun.
I do agree about carrying a gun with you in your day to day life - I don't know anyone who does that and would be shocked to hear someone did.
  • As someone who actually has a cold with adhd, I agree people are quick to diagnose. I was amazed at all the testing and appointments we had to go through before they diagnosed her.
@aessary03 - while not trying to make fun of what you meant here, I still had to giggle at the typo.

Moving away from guns and diaper-clad babies, my other UO is this type of outfit on little girls. WTF is up with those pants?! (Photo from an Etsy store)

ETA: Is this just a southern thing? I seem to only see this be-ruffled girls in TN, KY, NC and GA...
I am not a fan of smocked clothing and I definitely think it's more popular in the south than everywhere else. There is a store around here that carries the "persnickety" clothes. Some of them are cute and others are just too much for my tastes.

I haven't been on in a while, but my UO may/may not get me flamed.

I met a mom, who is convinced her daughter has ADHD. The kid has never seen a doctor to be fully diagnosed. This mom, says the only thing that can help calm her 7 year old daughter down, is to teacher her how to use a stripper pole.  My UO is  I feel people over diagnose ADHD/ just say a kid has it when they really don't. (This is coming from someone who has an education/ teaching degree.  I do think some kids have it, but not everyone)
Wtf? A stripper pole? Sounds like her daughter needs a hobby/activity rather than a stripper pole or adhd diagnosis. As someone who actually has a cold with adhd, I agree people are quick to diagnose. I was amazed at all the testing and appointments we had to go through before they diagnosed her. I was actually skeptical of the whole diagnosis, but it's amazing the difference the medication has made. She used to be overly emotional, melt downs, very impulsive, and energy that was ridiculous. She's still the same personality, but her teachers report a remarkable difference in her performance and ability to sit in class without having to get up every couple minutes. I can now take her to the grocery store without her wanting to pull everything off the shelves! Ha ha.

My older brother has it, and I know of many other children who have it.  I do think there are remarkable ways to help, but a stripper pole...not one of them. Your typo made me giggle.

  • Oh goodness! I am AK native and in the villages that I am familiar with - all women of equal age are referred to as "sister" or "sissy" and all women of an older age are referred to as "Auntie". I was not raised in the village but I fall into it out of respect when around relations. It is soooo funny to see 10+ women look up in unison depending on the age of the speaker and their perceived age!

I feel it is safer for families to own a gun but in a responsible manner. Keep the gun in safe that is easily accessible only to the parents, they have safes that only unlock to a certain persons fingerprints. Let's face it, if something does happen in your home, you will just end up calling someone out with a gun to protect you, the cops. Why not stop the bad guy before they can do something to you and your family?
Again it might be because of where I live, but I can't wrap my head around, a fear of the unknown causing me to keep weapons in my house. I just think that's too accessible for my children.
And to be clear I understand that people who have families and own guns try their best to be safe about it. However, in my mind, and from where I come from, there is nothing safe about guns. They are for law enforcement only. That's just the reality I've grown up living in.

Sorry to post this UO and run. My toddler was extra demanding today so we went out. I have never participated in UO Thursday...and man did I pick a doozy! Sorry ladies!

Edited: because I pushed post too soon (twice! Lol)

I read that a bunch of people on the April board are totally down with carrying them around...parks...playgroups...
