Along those lines my OU: I think everyone should match their couches to their pets. Black couches, black pets. Light couches mean light colored pets. No house should have light and dark colored pets at once.
What if I have a black cat and a calico? We have a saying in our house that "no item of clothing is safe".

Same. We have a tri colour dog and a calico. We have invested a small fortune in lint rollers.
I just bought the following product and it works great! We are going to save so much on lint rollers

What if all your pets aren't the same color? Why should my pet dictate my furniture color?
That's why you plan ahead and only get pets/furniture that fit your dark or light scheme. This way the pet hair doesn't show up as much. If you have a black and white dog you can't wear white pants or black pants without hair everywhere.
I guess this is sort of my UO, but my dog isn't even allowed on the couch or bed without permission. She will never jump up on the furniture if my husband or I don't call her up there. And when we want to snuggle with her on the couch we usually just put "her" blanket down and she chills on that. Training AND fur-free couch win!
Oh, my other UO - I don't like coffee, tea, OR any sort of alcohol. They all just taste like different flavors of awful. Coffee is one of my favorite scents though.
I am not sure if it is my city or everywhere but there is a fast food employee strike happening today. They are striking to make more money, in some cases as much as $15 an hour. IMO I think this is ridiculous. Yes, I agree work and getting paid $7 an hour is difficult to live on, however, if you want a better paying job you have to work for it to earn it. If they raise that wage how will you justify a person just out of college in an entry level job of a company making $15???
So much this! Job pay should be based on the skill level for the job itself...I'm sorry, but in no way shape or form does flipping hamburgers earn $15/hr. If you want more money, work your way to a better job. I know the job market is tough out there, but people with degrees and experience are having trouble finding jobs that pay that much, so it's ridiculous that people who have made no effort to improve themselves in the job market think they are worth that much for such a remedial job.
I think it's weird when people who aren't rich drive luxury cars. Like if you're a teacher driving a brand new Audi (I'm looking at you, friend of my husbands) it just looks like you're trying too hard.
And honestly, any car you get brand new is gonna be nice as fuck these days. It's not such a huge difference anymore between a Toyota and a BMW as far as options that are available. It's just a dumb ass logo on the front and back of the car.

I'm kind of iffy here since there are so many people with degrees that are underemployed. I'm not using my degree right now, not by choice. My promotion levels are just lagging due to economic reasons. You'd be surprised on how many of your burger flippers and cashiers have college degrees.
I'm going to assume its a small majority of people working at McDonalds who have a degree lol
It's annoying that these people, who rarely even remember to put napkins in the bag, think they deserve so much money 'just because'. I'm sorry but no, you don't get to bypass the system and stomp your feet to make your paycheck higher, you can work your ass off like anybody else who gets to where they are. The patient access team at our hospital doesn't even make $15 an hour. That's absolute horse shit that a fast food employee would think they do enough to make that much.
Now I sound like a huge bitch and I don't think less of fast food employees, I just don't agree at ALL that the work they do is worth that salary.
My UO is that I loathe Ben Stiller. He's a terrible actor and isn't funny at all. The only roles I can even stomach him in are ones where he's playing an over-the-top idiot like in Dodgeball. But anything where he's the lead, not even close. Hated Something About Mary, hated Meet the Fockers, etc. He's just awful.

I think if you have that much money to throw away because basically thats what you are doing then give it to a charity.

Totally agree with this! I heard this story on the radio this morning and thought it had to be a joke. I haven't ever worked in fast food, but I was a server and worked in retail all through college, and there is no way they should be making as much as people with entry level college grad jobs. My sister works for a (big) movie production company, has a degree in Communications and makes $16/hour. Working at McDonald's is not as hard as that! And in the meantime, I have been at the same job for six years and have never received an actual raise, so if they get one, the rest of us should too!

Here is my UO.. I get too annoyed when people post on Facebook about how it's their grandparents death day and they've been dead for years.... I just had a friend post "happy un birthday to my grandpa who had more un-birthday's than live birthdays". Really? You're posting about a man whom you've never met and she put a sad face and then commented on how she's crying about him being dead for more years than she's been alive. Get a grip! Apparently I have no heart.

Grief is grief... but that is a weird thing to put on fb.
More importantly your friend doesn't know what an unbirthday is.

I guess I don't get how someone can have grief over someone they never met and died before they were born.

Sometimes teachers marry up... or have funds from other sources or they may just do what they can to save. Case and point, DH's coworker that used to be in the NFL. Or the janitor there that rebuilds salvaged BMWs and Mercedes. Plus, you never 'really' know people's finances (unless they're telling you they're broke - then that's another story. I don't get living outside your means - if that's what you mean)
I agree with slaps here. You never know how people came to be driving those cars. I temped as the exec asst to a hospital pres one summer during college. As a reward for my excellent grades, my dad let me drive his recently restored Jaguar XKS that summer. After a late meeting one evening with the chief of staff and the ortho surgeons, we were all walking out to the parking lot and they saw the car. There were a lot of comments the next day about how I got my job, how I got that car, and how comfortable I must be on my knees.
But, FTR, I also shake my head when people I know tell me how much their crazy expensive car costs and I'm like, "Wait, what? You have $70k for a car, but you live in a falling apart trailer? Dude, that car is the down payment on a house. Or a whole newer trailer house."

I am admittedly a crappy griever, so I don't entirely get it either. I could understand that a person could grieve that they never got to know someone, or that their grandmother or parents are grieving.

My UO is that I don't understand how people can have pets and love them like family but eat other animals without question.
I totally agree with the expensive cars. If for some stroke of luck I become a millionaire someday I still don't think I would spend the money on a BMW or similar car.
I like to wear leggings as pants. With a sweater and a scarf. I know they are not pants, and sometimes you can even see my cellulite.
Bam! Look at my lumps. They are comfy.
But I still don't like sweatpants.
I am excited for fall because of this. Leggings, oversized sweaters and scarves. yayyy

My H drives a BMW M3. It was his dream car since he was a kid, so when he could afford to get one, he did. We bought it used, but it's still more than we'd normally spend on a car. We both work hard for our money, so we should be able to spend it as we see fit. Plus, just because we own a BMW doesn't mean we don't donate to charity as well. (andplusalso, I think people assume 'luxury' cars cost more than they actually do sometimes, my H's car cost less than some 'normal' cars do, so you can't always judge by the brand)

Buying a nice car is completely different from throwing money away. The money spent doesn't just disappear. If you buy from a dealer it indirectly goes to the people who put time and effort into that car from the people responsible for making the steel to the person washing the windows at the dealership. It is a good thing for everyone when people who can afford to spend their money do spend it.

I DVR every episode, and watch a few at night before I go to bed. My DH works super crazy hours so sometimes hes asleep by 8pm, and its how I entertain myself when I'm up a few more hours. I own every DVD of the shows, but I will DVR it so its easier access. I could literally recite lines. Overkill? Perhaps. With a glass of wine, its my wind down time.

I agree, if you have it you should spend it. Otherwise the economy will never grow. And, its unfair to judge those who drive nice cars because like others said their DH could have a great job, maybe they inherited the car, or won the lottery, or they worked their butts of at 2nd, 3rd, 4th jobs. Until you walk in someones shoes, you just never know.
My UO would have to be... I just dont like NSYNC, or Backstreet Boys, or any boys bands for that matter. Was their reunion entertaining? A little, I guess. Did I cry and relive my teen years? Nope.
I hate all things coffee. I hate the actual drink, coffee ice cream, anything mocha, or coffee-flavored in the least. Where I grew up in Rhode Island, they used to serve coffee milk in school. Sooo disgusting. Also, coffee+chocolate=worst combo EVER. **ducks for cover**
Girl, you are nuts!
Chocolate-covered coffee beans = best snack EVER. Mainly to be used for road trips and late-night partying. I have spoken.

I must have the unpopular opinion lol.
I just can't spend a lot of money on a car. To me a car is a way to get from point a to b. I don't have a dream car I just like reliable. Nor do I care about brands. When I buy a car I research based on reliability and safety. I also don't buy anything brand new I like to buy something with around 10k miles so I don't assume the depreciation cost. I am also one of these people that will literally drive a car until the wheels fall off.
I don't judge anyone if they don't have my same beliefs. If you want a Mercedes go for it, I may not understand it but to each their own. I'm just not going to buy one. Now if you give me one for free ..... Knowing me if sell the damn thing and use that money for something else lol!!

I think it varies based on your interests/current life situation. Sometimes people have an easier time spending money on a dream car than a dream house. They are often more easily attainable. Now for example, I have a Grand Cherokee Limited. Was it cheap? Absolutely not, but, I NEED 4 wheel drive where I live, its big enough to house car seats and adults comfortably. Its reliable, not great gas mileage but it definitely works best for my family. I think the point more-so is a smaller SUV wouldn't work for me, a car, wouldn't work for me. Are they financially practical? Sure. Do I regret spending the extra $$ to get a nice, larger vehicle, absolutely not.
Apparently this is unpopular but I actually don't think the Syrian government were the ones who deployed the chemical weapons. Maybe I am crazy but there is a major military country that says "we don't like what you're doing but we're staying out of this unless you start deploying chemical weapons. You cross that line and we'll join in". A tyran, hoping to stay in power for as long as he can, will do exactly that?!? Assad is a crazy bastard but not stupid.
I'm curious on what sources you base this? I haven't done much research yet, so I'm not arguing the other side, I'm just wondering on what basis you decided?

@scheff725. I totally understand having a bigger vehicle especially when you have little ones. Right now I only have a 14 yr old at home so a car is fine with me. I have a Honda accord that I love and never plan to get rid of. Actually my son is going to get it next year when he gets his license. We also have a prius that was inherited and my husband drives a jeep commander that i hate lol. We are going to buy a new vehicle when I get pregnant. I want something BIG because babies take up lots of room with their stuff but until then I'm happy with what I have.
I'd rather drive a cheaper car because I spend our money on our house. I put in an unground pool last year and did landscaping this year. Next year I want to do an outdoor kitchen. We love to entertain! I tell people that's my new car when they come over. Lol

That definitely makes sense. I definitely know what pools/landscaping can cost haha. Thats your car right there, for sure!
Another UO is when someone says their UO, then someone else is like "well this applies to me and I do it because ____" and then the OP of the opinion recants and is like "oh well I don't mean my UO when it comes to situations like yours!!"

My UO is terrible and unhealthy, but sometimes I really miss smoking. I quit over a year ago, and I'm proud, because it is a disgusting habit that takes years off your life and is a waste of $... but still, every now and then I see someone smoking and I just want one anyway.

My UO: I'm not really fond of "Girl's Nights"... I feel like I never have 100% fun because half of me is missing the whole time. I understand them in "theory" but why feel the need to go out carousing around with a group of girl's at night, why do you need this??? To "let off steam" or "do things you normally wouldn't do if your hubby wasn't around??" I just think a shopping day and lunch will suffice...and if you wanna get crazy with your ladies.. ...Do it at home, with their spouse/SO, where you are safe, and I think it's a whole lot more fun.
edit: I feel if you feel the need to act a different way in front of your hubby, you have other problems.
If we have a "girls night," I act the same way as I would if my H were there, but most of the time our husbands don't want to talk about all the girly things we talk about and catch up on!
See I get that...Just around these parts (where I live)...it's just an excuse for everyone to go out and get sloppy drunk...and I do not like it. I end up babysitting grown women (the one time I went out with a group about a year ago). I understand, dinner and a drink "girl's nights" with your 1 or 2 best friends. But I'm talking about FULL ON big groups of girl's. How do you even have conversation.

I didn't have time to read the whole thread so pardon if this has been posted... But please tell me someone else's local radio station is playing this song too...

No basis, no source, and not saying it's the truth. Simply an opinion. I have a hard time believing it. Growing up in a country that went through dictatorship more than once, the goal of a dictator is to stay in power. Chemical weapons was too much of a dumb move to make sense.
I heard yesterday on the news that the reason they are saying it was the government is because of the delivery system - rockets. Depending on the size of the rockets I can see how it would take a government. But something is not clicking in that story.
Thank goodness I am not in charge of national security.
I just listened to a former general talk about the issues regarding this particular attack. It sounds like there is the question of (a) confirming it was a chemical attack (all circumstantial, not forensic evidence yet) and (b) determining who authorized and conducted the attack.
He explained a lot of detail about what happened in that exact area in the weeks leading up to the attack, which (he believes) led to the government's use of chemical weapons to dislodge the rebels, since their traditional mortar, etc. tactics weren't working. Anyway, at this stage, in my opinion, no one has released details behind conclusive evidence on either side. They are just saying "this side did it, and here's why I think so." Not enough for me yet.
While I get why chemical weapons are against all UN humanitarian standards, but I think it is silly to say (essentially) it is okay to kill over 100k people by other means, but if you kill several hundred with CHEMICAL weapons, then you have crossed a line. Not that I think we should have engaged sooner either, the whole thing is just a mess.
And I would also hate to be in charge of National Security.

And honestly, any car you get brand new is gonna be nice as fuck these days. It's not such a huge difference anymore between a Toyota and a BMW as far as options that are available. It's just a dumb ass logo on the front and back of the car.

Apparently I have no heart.
More importantly your friend doesn't know what an unbirthday is.
I guess I don't get how someone can have grief over someone they never met and died before they were born.
But, FTR, I also shake my head when people I know tell me how much their crazy expensive car costs and I'm like, "Wait, what? You have $70k for a car, but you live in a falling apart trailer? Dude, that car is the down payment on a house. Or a whole newer trailer house."
ETA - wording.

I think rootbeer is nasty.

**ALL** Welcome
Eeek... Sorry!!

I'd rather drive a cheaper car because I spend our money on our house. I put in an unground pool last year and did landscaping this year. Next year I want to do an outdoor kitchen. We love to entertain! I tell people that's my new car when they come over. Lol
OWN YOUR UO !!!! Unless its something douchey, then delete your account and come back reincarnated as someone we don't hate seeing around.
That's what I drive! Love it!!!

Also, I think ranch dressing is disgusting. Actually I dislike most dips, dressings, and condiments.
