Just out of curiosity, what is the CS percentage rate where you are giving birth? My hospital is in a very small town and they pride themselves on having the lowest CS rate in our area. Out of about 15 hospitals all within about 60 miles of our town, ours has the lowest at 24%; the others go up as high as 54%.
I am wondering if this is truly a low rate compared to the rest of the country and also if being in a smaller town with fewer births has anything to do with it.
Re: C Section Rate at Your Hospital/Birth Center
My doctor assured me that even though the hospital has a high CS rate, my chance of needing a CS would be the same regardless of where I delivered.
The rates for hospitals that get a lot of high-risk cases would be skewed in that direction. I agree looking at your OBs rate would be a better gauge.

The national average is just under 33%. World Health Organization recommends no higher than 15%.

I looked at the rates for Texas and there were quite a few with 50%+ and one with 70%. One hospital had 100%, but then I read that the hospital is attached to a women's clinic with midwives so the hospital only does C/S.
