November 2013 Moms

Got me thinking....

I was volunteering yesterday at my sons school and I noticed so many kids with the same names! Some form of "aiden" seems to be the popular, but I know I came across at least a handfull of "Elle or Ella" as well. I know this because I was asking all the kids their names in hopes of stumbling upon a name I couldnt live without since I have been all over the internet looking up ideas. I have come across some crazy names from celebrities like "cricket" and am just stumped!

Lets share! If you have kids what are their names (no last names please) and if you have picked out a new name for your little bump what is is?

Re: Got me thinking....

  • My stepson is named Ethan (very popular in 2006 and it's stuck around since then).

These days, I see a lot of "Aiden" forms too: Jayden, Hayden, Landen, Kaiden, etc.

We're still narrowing down names for my daughter coming in November.
  • Loading the player...
  • My daughters name is Jayla Elani
This one will be Isabella Jenesys

  • My little boy will be Jameson, Jamie for short. It's not super popular, but not unheard of either. He's named after a beloved uncle.

The most popular boy's name in my area is definitely Eli. I personally know four of them under the age of 2.

  • My son is Corbin Scott and my daughter will be Shelby Grace.  Everyone around here is named Peyton (and that goes for girls, boys and pets).

In memory of Corbin Scott 10/28/11-12/3/11. • DD's name is Savanah Capri and DS's name will Rowan Conlin. We tried to be original when we named DD Savanah and now Savannah is #80 on the most popular name charts from last year. I don't think we'll see Rowan on the most popular charts anytime soon but you never know. You really have to go with what you love and not worry too much about popularity.
  • My DS name is Jasper.. NOT a twilight reference. I really don't think its that popular, haven't met any other Jaspers in his 2 year lifespan. We are thinking Scarlett for this little one, it seems a little popular but I'm not to worried.
  • We are naming our son Travis Joseph after my SO's uncle who passed away and my father. If we were having a girl it would be Ava Diane after my
Mother who passed. I also love the names hunter, jaxson, and Levi for a boy. And for a girl I love karly, Melanie, and Victoria.
  • A good place to look would be on the November spreadsheet....I believe a lot of names are on there.

We are naming DD Emily. I'm a FTM but I have nephews Caleb ( VERY popular) and Nathan and nieces Meghan and Sydney.
  • DD1 is Hailey Reese, ( I wanted to name her Reese but DH won and I settled for the middle name).

DD2 will most likely be Reagan Elizabeth

  • I know a family who named their little girl this and I love it!!!

My son's name is Carter which is growing in popularity, unfortunately. We are naming our daughter Amelia and will call her Millie.

  • We're naming LO Noah Robert.  We wanted a classic name and chose Robert for family significance.  Noah was #3 or #4 in the U.S. last year, but isn't very popular in our area (the Peyton, Aidan, Jayden, Hayden, Brayden, etc. are super popular around here).  If LO was a girl we would have named her Elizabeth (nickname Elle-- pronounced like the letter L) Grace.

Emily is such a good classic! I was named after an older lady in my church and have never once had an Emily in my classes growing up, despite the popularity, known quite a few in my adult life, but never once wished it was anything other than Emily.
    Love the classics :)
Oh and I've never meet an Emily I didn't like!
    ;)
I LOVE the name Emily! Before I was adopted I was named Haley Rose. Now my parents named me Emily when I was about 5 weeks old and I'm so glad they did! Haley wasn't exactly fitting for me...I don't think, anyway.

Im mobile and it likes to test my patience and not as fun as sharing :)

I absolutely love the name Corbin! I never thought of that, not that I'm having a boy but it's a great name!

  • We're having a boy and naming him Atticus.

Our list for girls consisted of: Amelia, Ava, Lily, Zoey, Amelie, Reagan, Scarlett, Dahlia, Cadence, Cordelia, and Felicity.
  • We are having a Charlotte, which is gaining in popularity apparently.. We just didn't know it until after we picked it. Oh well!

My godchildren are Kaileigh, Emmy (Emily but I wish we just named her Emmy since I have never once in 8 years called her Emily), and Brandan.

Naming is so difficult.. I really wanted Ella or some form of that. Maybe for the next one lol but DH wasn't feeling it. Here was some of our girl list: Hayley, Annabella, Marlie, Mariella, Elise, Eliza, Eloise. Glad DH just picked Charlotte.

Boy was definitely Emmett or MAYBE Elias (Eli)
  • DS1 name is Lincoln James.

DS2 name will be Avery David.

The two names we're looking at are on the popular side in their respective countries, however we really don't care - we like them, they fit our criteria, and given that the #1 girls' name in the US last year had less than 25,000 girls named that... #1 doesn't always mean you'll have 8 in school. It's the trending name-parts (like -aiden, -elle) that are more likely to get kids confused.

That, and having weird spellings so that no one can figure out the "right" spelling.
I almost asked what you were leaning toward in your "Thank Yous" post the other day.  Will you share after birth?

  • Lots of beautiful names on this post! I think we are going with Joslyn Gabriella. Joslyn is a park that DH went to when he was little that is no longer open. Gabriella is a name that he picked for Spanish and Italian influence like our last name.

  • We are naming our little girl Vienna Rose. I'm hoping it'll be simple enough that it won't be mispronounced.
  • DS name is Wyatt Donald and this lo will be Willow Ada-Jo although neither are unheard of they aren't super popular around here.  The big names are the aidan names for boys and kaylee/kylie for girls.

We don't really look at popularity.
My DD1 is Sophia Grace, I have run across a girl on TB who has her exact name. DD is named for my Great grandmother
DS1 is Samuel Richard. Samuel is from 1st Samuel 1:27, Richard is DH's middle name. Oh and funny fact DH and I are not religious in the slightest it was more the sentiment we liked.
DS2 is Simon Nathaniel. To be honest it was just an S name we liked with a middle name that sounded good.
DD2 will be Savannah Lynn. Savannah is just an S name we like and Lynn is for my mom.

I can't stand the name Aiden...sorry if there's one in the crowd. The kids I'm watching right now are Dylan and Tyler and I'm not into those either. Previously I had Emmet (yep, 1 t) and Kaelan (pronounced Kaylan). Then there was Molly, Abby, & Sam. Before that was Caroline, Lofton (yep) and Sawyer. I had an Alex and Victoria. Jonah, Shelby, Cassidy and Cooper. Gabriel, Eliza, and Mitchell. A couple of Laylas, and 1 Kinsley. I know a family with Calliope and Lyra. Another with Jaxton, Qasiah, & Ayla. 1 boy named Josiah (really like that) My two friends that just had babies named them Silas and Claudia.

Lots of variety, that's for sure!!

We aren't sharing her name, especially online due to a fear of rising popularity (call me paranoid) I love classics (Emily, Olivia, Eva/Ava, Hazel types) that have all become popular again!
Currently the name we chose had less than one birth per year per state in the US and our back up is about 250th in popularity.

I really want a solid name that will be timeless, but not so popular she's one of five (like the Jennifers, Tonyas,, jessicas, Tiffanys, and Heathers of my day) in her classes.

    Names are hard!

    I'm not sharing mine for the same reason! Especially since the boy name I was going to use was stollen directly from the June '13 board! I thought I was the only crazy one 8-}

  • My DS name is Sebastian Matthew.(..and our last name has 10 letters!!) Lol he's been nicknamed Bash :)

We aren't announcing DD name until she's born but her middle name will be Mia :)
  • DS1 is Christopher Chase, goes by Chase, named after my hubby Chris. DS2 is Ashton James, goes by AJ, middle name is for my stepdad. Now we are expecting a baby girl who will be named Jordyn Jayce - my dad's name is Jay and Chris's mom's middle name is Joyce so we combined them. As for Jordyn, we just love the name!
  • DD is Carys Noelle.    DS will be Brenin Montgomery.  (that's the first time I have really written it out!  that was exciting!  haha)      DH is Welch, so we wanted to honor his heritage.

  • As teachers, DH and I had the added difficultly of finding a name that not only isn't overly popular, but also neither of us associate with a difficult past or present student.  We decided on Collin.  Of course then after deciding this, I told my Mom (who is also a teacher), and she said she has 4 students with that name...but we like it and neither of us have any students named Collin, so we're sticking with Collin.

My parents were both teachers and always talk about how hard it was to pick names for my brother and me.
  • DD's name is Alexis Celeste and this one will be Catalina..middle name we are still debating. I like Catalina Marie or Catalina Loren..DH likes Catalina Jolie but that sounds too much like Angelina Jolie to me! He says it doesn't but he's crazy!! .

We have shared with family and some friends, made the mistake of telling one gal I didn't know well (H's friend.s wife) and her response was "oh that's so cute I think I'll have to steal it!

I have not told anyone since.

My biggest fear (about the name) isn't that people will use it later but that someone will use it.before I get to and that makes me upset (H thinks I've lost my marbles)

I've had my girl name picked out for about 20 years. It's making a slight comeback. In fact after my close friends and family knew a distant Facebook friend named her daughter the same name. We're not close in life or proximity so I'm not changing! I don't know if she's the type who will think I stole her name, but I really don't care.

  • We aren't sharing until after LO is born, but I have to say I get so happy every time I read these posts that the name we've chosen isn't mentioned!

    Yep! Me, too!
