Yep. After my guy did the first one I said "No, no, no!! I'll come back later!" knowing I probably wouldn't. He said ok but he just wanted to check my other one real fast. Then he pierced that one before I could stop him. He said he knew I wouldn't come back and I really wanted both done. I'm much happier to have gotten it done in one sitting! Mine was a 14 gauge, I think.

It wasn't awful. My dermal anchors were way worse. I'd say dermals, then nipples, then various cartilage, then tatts...Tatts don't really bother me at all, though. I like getting inked even though I only have three. Next one is coming up in November.

I HAVE A QUESTION!!!! I assume one would need to remove their nipple piercings to breast feed, right?

LaLeche League says leaving the piercings in can interfere with getting a good latch but that its not always a problem.

I think it's just because I want to make sure I'm putting everything into FF correctly and I don't have a very good sleep pattern so I worry the numbers will be off. I'm sure it will be fine once I get into it more.

I sleep horribly, too. There's nothing you can do about it but enter the data that you get and hope that it works out. Good luck!

If you're having regular periods, it's very likely that you are ovulating. I'd give charting a try for 6 months before worrying too much. It can take awhile to get the hang of. Have you been getting + OPK and having corresponding CM since June?

jschwind22! I sure hope so. I got worried since my last few periods have been light and mainly brown with very little red.

I did get a couple of near-positive OPKs since January -- I am trying to be more conscientious and test twice a day this midcycle -- and I usually see EWCM for a few days 3-4 days before the darkest OPK.

Why are you interested in genetic testing? What are you looking for? Both DHs parents are adopted and we're kind of curious what will crop up in his lifetime. I guess we can wait and see what happens to his parents.

I am interested because neither of us have any family medical history. I am of Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. I carry a higher risk of being a carrier of Tay-Sachs, Canavan,l cystic fibrosis and familial dysautonomia. He is European Caucasian which carries a higher risk of cystic fibrosis. And it seems both the smart, and responsible thing, to us, to do when you have a blind spot, a large one, in your family history.

@MauiBliss I would think hopefully your OB could make the referral as I would consider it family planning. However, my husband and I were able to get a referral to genetic counselor by just calling our PCP. The counselor went through our entire history and made suggestions as to what test would be best for us as well as telling us our risks for certain conditions. We ended up doing the Counsyl test which is supposed to be $100 per person but I'm still waiting to hear about that from insurance. We did it because I have a family history of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

Many (not all) ladies find that their OPK gradually gets darker until it turns +. If you have that pattern, it can give you even more of a heads up about when your fertile window is coming.

Was your sleep pattern off before you started temping? I know mine got all funky once I started because I didn't want to accidentally mess up. Now I sleep through the night. You can check my chart if you want to see the difference. All the empty circles at the beginning is from when I woke up a lot.

Edit: Don't take my chart too seriously though.. I'm having issues with my body.

I'm still charting while waiting for my RE appt next week, but I feel like the likelihood of me O'ing at all the past 6 months are pretty slim... Am I crazy for thinking that? Anyone have a similar situation?

FF thinks I O'd on CD16.

I disagree and think I O'd on CD15.

Thoughts?

(I know this totally doesn't matter - the timing is what the timing is and what will be will be... merely just curious what others think)

Hello! This is my first month using OPKs, started them on CD10. Tested twice a day and got faint lines until CD13 when I got dark lines in the morning and afternoon. BD that night and the next. I'm now on CD16 and have been getting faint lines again, no more positives. This is all new to me, so does that sound right? How much longer should I do the OPKs this cycle? (I'm not temping, if that matters.). TIA!

When you say you got "dark lines", does that mean the test line was as dark or darker than the control? Are your cycles pretty regular? If your cycles are pretty regular and the test was for sure positive, I'd say it's safe to stop testing now. It's always possible to gear up to O and then not, but you only really know if that happens if you are temping and don't get a temp shift after the + OPK. Good luck!

I do not have personal experience with this. From what I have seen in my time on the board, a common "symptom" is a short LP (as in consistently <10 days).

ETA: Or excessive spotting in the LP. I've seen that too.

Has anyone taken femaprin? I have several friends who have taken it, all for different reasons and gotten pregnant shortly after starting it. They have recommended it for me because my temps are a little wonky. I don't particularly think they are that off and I can still pinpoint ovulation. I can't decide if there is any real reason it would help me and can't find any reliable information about any possible risks to taking it.

I don't have personal experience, but I would never, ever take it without direction from a doctor. What I have read/heard about it is that it can really mess with your cycles, not in a good way. Don't do it just because your friends do it.

I did one and then the other a week later, was no big deal to me. I did remove mine though thinking I was going to bf and it would be a chocking hazard if say a ball came out while ds was feeding.. However these things were milk duds, milk never came in at all, lactation specialist brought me formula and that was that.

Thanks, I don't have a good reason to think I have this other than I experience mid cycle spotting every month. My doctor didnt seem concerned but I've been googling stuff. Bad idea, I know. According to my temps and ovacue monitor my LP is within the normal range. I have made a doctor appointment for September to get the fertility testing ball rolling since I'm on cycle 16 now.

Hmm, well it's showing your current cycle, but not your last one. 3 cycles in the last 6 months certainly indicates that your cycles are longer than usual, but that does not mean that you are not ovulating. You could just be ovulating later, and plenty of people do get pregnant from ovulating later. It would be interesting to see a chart for one of those entire cycles. You said that you are testing with OPK, how long during your cycle are you using them?

If you don't have VIP, I can only see the current cycle and the last one. There's an option somewhere where you can set it to be able to see your previous charts. If you have VIP, then I could see them all. Otherwise it would just be the last 2.

Are people still playing in this thread? DH and I had our anniversary yesterday so I didn't get a lot of bump time in.

Anyways, I just had my CD 3 bloodwork come back, and the gyno thinks it looks all good--basically, they were looking for a hormonal/thyroid/PCOS-type thing as to why I'm having extremely light periods and pretty short cycles. What do you all think? I compared my results with the info on fertilityplus.com, and the only things I could see was that my fasting glucose was a bit on the high end of normal and my FSH at 7.88 is "good" in terms of ovarian reserve (but not "excellent", but that probably makes sense since I'm almost 30.)

Fasting glucose: 97 mg/dl
17-Hydroxyprogesterone: 29 ng/dl
DHEA Sulfate (DHEAS): 276 ug/dl
Free testosterone: 2.5 pg/ml
follicle stim. hormone (FSH): 7.88 iu/l
luteinizing hormone (LH): 4.46 iu/l
progesterone: 0.63 ng/ml
prolactin: 4.48 ng/ml
estradiol: 29.2 pg/ml
TSH: 1.320 uiU/ml
T4 free: 1.36 ng/dl

Thanks, @GhostMonkey and @jschwind22. All my numbers were within the reference values. My gyno was somewhat concerned because it took me 6 months to go through a 32-pack of tampons. I typically only really "bleed" for a day or a day and a half and then just some spotting.

@jschwind22 - yes! I even bought a second one (different brand) thinking maybe something was wrong with the first one I bought. I temped with both of them for a while, and even though they never gave me the same reading, they were never too far off from one another (.2 degrees max)
