I definitely miss a glass, two or three of wine every night, but I find myself craving sushi so much more. I guess we always crave things we want more when we can't have them right? Come on December, you can do it!!!!
Now sushi is entirely different for me. haha I usually only eat cooked, but I only get it from one particular restaurant - one that we've become friends with the owners/chefs/servers and they take extra care to make sure everything is safe for me to eat. They also give me extra "pregnant lady" soups and appetizers, which is fun.
But I can't give up all of my loves for 9 months

There are times this summer where a cool cocktail or a glass of wine sounds great, but ever since I was young in health class I remember learning that alcohol and pregnancy don't mix. I don't think I could bring myself to do it. I would feel far too guilty and would never forgive myself if I negatively impacted my LO with a guilty pleasure.
I have had sips here and there, NA beers and Fre wine. Other than that nothing. I am praying Sam comes on time, Dec. 4th, so I can have a glass of wine or a vodka cranberry at my parents annual Christmas party. It's not helping that I'm watching bar rescue right now on TV either. *le sigh*
Horrified by the number of y'all that are drinking! I'm not trying to be judgemental, I swear! But I am truly in the state of shock!
You realize that Americans are one of the few cultures that don't drink a little while pregnant right?
This. Many European countries, for example, don't bat an eye at an expectant mother having a glass of wine each night with dinner. There's a difference between the occasional glass of wine vs. holy crap I'm drunk five times a week.
Go read the article somebody posted about the rules of pregnancy...the author of the article cited a couple of studies in the UK and Australia that have very interesting results.

Not trying to be judgemental? That's funny.
I haven't had any (yet), but totally would. With possible IUGR, I'm trying to obstain from everything fun. But at my next u/s, if all looks good (this week!) I wouldn't mind celebrating with a little champagne.
My husband opened one of our "nice" wines this week and I am enjoying a glass now. Once a week tops for me. I'm not getting anxiety over it (in fact it helps me calm down whine I might just rip someone's head off). Do your research and do what you are comfortable with

I've brought wine to my lips if the smell seemed worth it. Also, we had an awesome cave tour and barrel tasting in Napa. I took 1 sip from each of the tastings. DH got to be a drunk between both of our pours.
The smell of beer makes me nauseas and with celiac, I can't even have non-alcoholic. I'm also scared shitless of making a wrong move... Looks like I'm SOL until Baby C arrives!
I haven't, but I did have a dish w/Marsala sauce a couple of weeks ago
I don't judge those who do have the occasional drink, though. I drink pretty rarely when not PG, so it hasn't been a struggle to give it up and I haven't really been tempted. I am mostly a mojito or margarita drinker, and the strength varies so widely I'd be nervous about trying it.
Also, my Doctor told me that he did a decade long study between two different pain managements. One was a typical pharmaceutical and the other was alcohol. They were given IV a few times/week. He said, 'These women were clearly drunk. And we had zero cases of FAS.' He told me that a glass or two is fine, just don't go from nothing to a whole bottle.
As a FTM, I'm a nervene but just wanted to relay my Dr.'s findings. I have not done any research...
Definitely a no for me. Personally it's just not that important to risk it but to each their own.

I had a sip of a drink last weekend and had no clue it had alcohol in it. Other than that not a lick of alcohol since February of this year. I stopped drinking when I knew we wanted to get serious about trying to conceive (plus it was so I could get healthier in general and lose a few pounds).

You're probably just a better person than I am.
Who me??
Lol. Quote fail. Not you, Edgar suit or whatever. Edgar suit made me LOL. Touché! I'm thinking of that lady rhe Ellen Show called a few years ago who said, "I live Jesus, but I drink a little." Haha!
I've had a few sips of DHs various drinks, but haven't, and won't, drink my own drink while pregnant. I'm currently on the back pitch Sri king a ginger beer while DH drinks a Java Stout. I didn't drink a ton, maybe once a week, before I was PG so...it's not a huge sacrifice for me.
This is a horrifying poll/post. Your "love" and "need" of your precious alcohol takes precedent at the risk of your baby. Sure, we would all love a drink at some point during our pregnancy, but it's astonishing to see how much women risk for a selfish desire.
If you look at the research studies it really isnt as much of a concern as you ladies are stating saying its horrifying and selfish check your facts. No offense but its not your choice and one drink has not been proven to cause harm.

Again, and I will speak slowly. We are one of the only countries in the world where women are told not to drink anything. It is a big game of doctors covering their asses bc they can't trust the general public to not take "Drink Moderately" as a 6 pack a day. We live in a sue happy country where everybody thinks they are owed something for nothing, so every doctor plays cover their own ass. There are many studies done in Europe and the UK with 5k, 7k, 10k mothers and children exposed to all levels of alcohol and it's been shown that moderate {between 3-7 glasses of wine a week} drinking has no ill effects on the fetus. Not only that, I doubt anybody who answered Yes to the question is even drinking near that much. So, kindly take your judgy comment and shove it where the sun doesn't shine.
Nope, no way, no how. My 2 sisters (adopted) have FAS. Knowing that it is 100% preventable keeps me from drinking at all why pregnant. I can handle the 9 months without.

Sorry Saint Sheryl! Thanks for lecturing me on something you are clearly an expert on. What else can you tell me about fetal development that science has not proven?

Luckily, my "judgy" comments aren't all that uncommon. I do not believe that I'm on the minority or any of the other ladies that have commented on not drinking. It may be the minority on these forums but I believe that speaks to the type of people here. This will be my last post so no bother replying, as I will actually be de-activating my account on this website.
Research? You must be kidding. You also much live in a cave my dear friend. I'm not Saint, but I do appreciate the compliment. I do try to be a good nutrient provider for my unborn child that cannot care for himself yet, but Saint isn't necessary.
You selfish women ARE horrifying (I really like that word) by not showing unconditional love to your unborn child, by not drinking alcohol for just nine months. Was your pregnancy unplanned and you simply don't care about your baby? Perhaps people like you are what's wrong with the world these days. You can stand by your argument by saying that other countries do it and that is fine for you. I do hope that you and your FAS child go live there once it gets older. Goodbye and hope you all had a great weekend!
