I do not get warm and mushy feelings about belly kicks. I am always happy to feel them since its reassurance my baby is okay and active, but I think it feels totally and completely alien.
@AcaAwkward - everytime I see your name I start seeing or quoting things from Pitch Perfect. Thank you
I don't really have anything yet. I'll see what everyone else comes up with. My UO would only be relatable to folks here: I despise chai, ugali, and sukuma. (All core staple food items here). Ha. I'll see if I can come up with something different later.
I side eye the heck out of people who are already complaing about weight gain. Seriously, we're barely into our pregnancies here. Sorrynotsorry you put 3 pounds on your ittybitty frame (yes, anything around 115 pounds is ittybitty), but it's a fact of pregnancy. If you're complaining now, I hate to see what happens down the road.
Trying to get knocked up since June 2012 ~ Dx: PCOS
I am ecstatic about this baby and the addition to our family, but I'm not particularly fond of being pregnant. It's not even that I'm uncomfortable, I have no symptoms yet and my last pregnancy was super easy. It's just hard to wait so long/give things up etc etc. and we're barely at the beginning so it's ALL ahead of us lol.

I know we are still early into this board and everyone is excited, but I'm already so tired of seeing the exact same threads over.and.over.and.over. I wish people would read and scroll down!
I hate "unique" names. I know many people love them and find it a way to individualize their child, but every time I hear of a child named "Echo" or "Apple" I just feel bad for them. Can you imagine being a 40 year old and having to introduce yourself as "Echo" at a business meeting?! Flame me if you must.

I suspect this is not an unpopular opinion )
My UO is that we shouldn't be complaining about not having symptoms. It's annoying and there are going to be plenty of symptoms later to whine about. And seafood is gross. Being pregnant is a great excuse to give for why I don't eat it and no one gives me a hard time about it.

Agree! Actually, I agree with most of everyone's, except for the Obama one. I love Obama

But you can have seafood when you are pregnant. You only have to limit fish with higher mercury content.
I don't know if this is UO but I am so tired of reviewing every possible health/beauty product for Salicylic Acid/ White Willowbark... parabens.. fragrances, etc. Basically, I feel like I'm trying to find the one product I need that won't give my baby a third arm. Organic products are not cheap, but I'm caught between my acne, my super noticeable gray hair and maiming my unborn child.
I know some are trying to be nice and helpful, but I can't stand when some women feel they are professionals on all things pregnancy just because they've had a baby already.. Unless you are mother of 5 AND have your Doctorate/PhD/ experience of 20+yrs OBGYN, thanks but NO THANKS on your comments.. EVERYONE has different backgrounds, morals, experiences during pregnancy and are going to raise their children differently.
And btw, @pdilly2b I love Obama too! And @MrsHardy12 OMG you read my mind, you'll find the same trend on every page!

Agreed! My DH and always say you have to be able to put "Attorney General" in front of the name and have it sound normal. That or imagine your son or daughter at 55 years old in a board room, in a suit running a meeting....yeah...

How do low income families do this?
They use products with those "evil" ingredients in them and their kids turn out fine.

Yep!! Or they turn out...well, they turn out. I used to work as a jail nurse, so I'm thinking of the more extreme cases (not the moms that used a zit cream here or there!).
I relate to this one, if you look at my search history it's nothing but "is ______ safe for pregnancy." Basically making myself crazy over it. I have rosacea (was diagnosed at 24, unfair) and only been off meds a couple weeks and skin is already a mess. Just trying to think "this will be worth it!" Over and over.
My UO; I am not excited about a little baby, or little kids; I am excited to have teenagers/young adults. I'm sure I will enjoy the stages, but I want to get to know the little person I made.
I hear ya. @rds51510 is hair dye without bleaching agents on the no no list? I honestly don't know, just curious for my own sake.
I don't have rosacea but I definitely have acne issues even if I'm not pregnant. I'm a huge exfoliator and never realized until now how many products have willow bark! ugh.
My biggest issue is that I color my gray roots every four weeks. I have black hair and it's really noticeable if I don't color it. If I want to keep this pregnancy a secret to the end of the 1st Tri, I will have to color my hair. Highlights are going to do nothing for my roots. Maybe this should be my UO because I'm sure most people would think I'm being vain, but it's something that makes me feel like ME. If I didn't color my hair, I would be completely salt and pepper.
I picked up some Naturtint. It's still hair dye, but perhaps is "better" than Loreal or Clairol.
@stasi- Pretty much every hair coloring product I've seen says to consult your doctor before coloring your hair. My first appt isn't until 8/26 so I'm SOL.
I want to CD but only for the sole purpose of saving money. I am in no way trying to be a real "crunchy" mama.
Watch out, you'll be using unpaper towels and mama cloth before ya know it... Just kidding. We've used CDs from day 1, and I love them. Sure I like not throwing away so much trash but I use them mostly for the cost factor and the cute factor. He's actually in disposables this week because we're moving and I don't like them.
I always side eye when woman say they can't eat cheese while pregnant. One, it's only unpasteurized soft cheese you need to worry about. Two, unless you MADE it or one of your many friends from Europe sent it to you, all cheese sold in the states is pasteurized. Enjoy your cheese!

Yes, the cute factor is another reason. Basically what I'm saying is I'm doing it for completely selfish reasons. Not because I want to save the earth. Ha!

THANK YOU for saying this!!!! I was kind of disgusted yesterday in the bloat pic post with all these 110 lb. girls whining about putting on weight/turning into a house/etc. I wanted to say something, but didn't have the energy. First of all- you're not getting fat, you're PREGNANT. Something a million women cry for every night, so be thankful and enjoy what you have. Secondly- if you weigh 110 lbs. (which apparently SO many girls here do) don't talk to me about getting fat ok? Just shush. I'm not overweight, but I haven't weighed that little since I was 20. Now I've had a baby, my body's never going back, and I'm ok with that. Whether you bounce back to your original weight or not- it doesn't matter. You made a baby!!

PREACH. During my first pregnancy, one of our legal secretaries would comment every day about the feta on my Greek salad. Lady, SHUT UP, and let me eat my effing salad in peace.
I want to CD but only for the sole purpose of saving money. I am in no way trying to be a real "crunchy" mama.
We CD'ed Evie solely for savings and cuteness, and I love it! I would never classify myself as crunchy granola, although getting into the cd "world" you might surprise yourself the stuff you'll try.
Hell, I haven't weighed 110 pounds since I was PREPUBESCENT.
The worst offender is my MIL who always, always, always yells at me for being too thin to get pregnant (joke's on you, lady! and you're going to wonder why I didn't tell you right away). I'm 135 lbs. She boasts of only breaking 100 lbs when 9 months pregnant.
I seriously side eye people who try to use pregnancy to get out of doing there job. Unless you are high risk or are put on restrictions by your provider. Your pregnant, not sick. I worked 12 hour shifts on my feet until I delivered last go around, so when people have a desk job and want a note to get out of work I have no sympathy. This goes double in the beginning of pregnancy..
I was watching a show on Shark Week last night and DH and I discussed how we didn't feel sorry for the people who were attacked by sharks because they put themselves in that situation. I felt bad for saying it, because they lost limbs. But, most of them were doing stupid stuff, like surfing in a spot that is known for shark attacks during the month they were in the water. Or, standing in shallow water surrounded by "nice sharks" and one just attacked. I did feel bad for the people who were just wading in the water and were attacked. I'm totes scared of the ocean!

/steps off soapbox.
I think people post pictures saying I'm fat, blah, blah, blah so that people will tell them how great they look, how cute they are, etc. Seriously, are we in high school? I can't imagine the self image issues that little girls are going to have if our society keeps up with this whole only skinny people are beautiful mantra. People are bashing Kate Middleton for her post baby body. Get a grip, there are more important things in life than starving yourself.
I won't complain!!! Even tho I'm curvy I'm looking forward to this baby I'm going to eat dress n keep it sexy like I did my other 2 n when its all over I'm having my MOMMY MAKE OVER GIFT FR MY HONEY!!! So I'm super excited!!! Life is 2 short ppl get aggy for everything we all know what we got our self into even 1st time moms if u didn't as Kevin hart says u gonna learn today!! Lol enjoy ladies! Its only 9months n a wonderful blessing I see ppl wasting so much time complaining everyday on here as some else said many would take ur place just be thankful n enjoy this journey!! Only thing I'm going to miss is my wine n 7in ughhh but I'm coming back better after this baby plus I'm looking forward to my big ol butt (u can sit a cup on it when I'm pregnant) lol n my breast looking even more juicy! My man loves it!! Lol I laugh at my pain instead on complain!!
I guess my UO is that I think it's annoying when people have so many opinions about pregnancy, parenting, etc. I don't care if you had an epidural or not, if you breastfeed or not, if you use cloth diapers or disposable, I don't think doing or not doing any of these things makes you a better or worse mom!
Its true!! I get a butt girls pay to have n I love it can't wait to have on my dresses/new shoes (ladies love new shoes lol) n its a great time to bribe my honey into buying me things even tho I know I can't wear it just for after the baby is born!!(Im into fashion If u cant tell by Now lol) I'm crazy! The things I think about my fam n girlfriends all laugh at me!!

If you don't stand for something you will fall for anything. It's perfectly okay to have an opinion on things. People judge people, that's a part of life. Do what you have to do and don't let anyone make you feel inferior. I personally feel like I'm judged more for CDing, BFing, having med-free births, etc. because that's not the "norm" (at least in my circle of friends). But I stand behind my choices and no one gets to make me feel guilty for what I do. I've had so many friends make comments about how "lucky" I am. They don't know the struggles I've gone through, just as I don't know theirs.

I'm confused, why would you do something environmentally friendly and then specifically point out that you don't want to save the earth?
It's not a bad/uncool thing to do something that's environmentally responsible...
I never said I don't want to save the earth. That's just not the sole reason why I'm choosing to CD.
