My other UO: I don't understand the obsession with shark week. I understand that it's interesting and educational, as well as entertaining but I feel like it has become quite the fad this year.

@eme520 It's not like I'm burning down trees for the sake of not saving the earth. Also, never did I say it was uncool to be a crunchy mama or be environmentally friendly. I was just simply pointing out that the reason I'm choosing to CD isn't because my goal is to help the environment (not that I'm against it!) but because I want to save money and because I think it's cute.

I used plenty of excuses to get out of my job without a doctor's note and I wasn't high risk. My circumstance is a little different. I have job where I'm at my desk and in the field. I refuse to do my normals tasks that require me to go into buildings with mold, lead, asbestos, contaminated materials. Sure my company offers the proper protective equipment but its still not worth the risk to me.

Also, I have a friend who was so sick she was getting dehydrated and needed to get a few IVs of fluid pumped in her. She didn't seem any sicker than me yet she was missing a ton of work but never got a doctors note. Every pregnancy and the way a women reacts to the hormones is so different. It's kind of a blanket statement to say women shouldn't miss work and should just deal with it.

I agree DemoDoll, not all pregnancies are the same. 

Good for you if you were able to work 12 hour shifts on your feet every day, I'm really honestly glad that you felt well enough to do so! But don't assume that every other woman should be able to do it just because you could.

I was kind of disgusted yesterday in the bloat pic post with all these 110 lb. girls whining about putting on weight/turning into a house/etc. I wanted to say something, but didn't have the energy. First of all- you're not getting fat, you're PREGNANT. Something a million women cry for every night, so be thankful and enjoy what you have. Secondly- if you weigh 110 lbs. (which apparently SO many girls here do) don't talk to me about getting fat ok? Just shush. I'm not overweight, but I haven't weighed that little since I was 20. Now I've had a baby, my body's never going back, and I'm ok with that. Whether you bounce back to your original weight or not- it doesn't matter. You made a baby!! /steps off soapbox.

I just have a couple of friends that act like if you don't do something a very specific way yourself, you are/will be wrong. I agree, I think you should do whatever makes you most comfortable and whatever is best for your family.

I agree!! Ppl are using pregnancy to be even more bigger bitches!! I'm not saying u can't complain but damn this has been done for years now women have been giving birth for centuries!!! There's nasty coming fr so many ppl I say if ur nasty dont be mad when what ur carrying comes out to be just as nasty!! I think ppl come here for support n ppl that understand what they are feeling not to be judged n be bitched at if I don't agree with someone I keel scrolling cuz I'm too bless to even be bothered!! As I stated before, this community generally has a more straightforward approach than others. Feel free to check out some others if you don't like how it's run because I can guarantee you this is about as puppies and rainbows as it's going to get.

I entirely get where you are coming from. I leave the room if they do an x-ray on the floor even though I could wear a lead apron for protection to avoid that risk.

My sister-in-law was also hospitalized multiple times with hyperemesis with both pregnancies.

The situations I refer to are people who are entirely healthy and don't think they should have to sweep a floor or work normal non-hazardous jobs just because they are pregnant.

I like names that many here would consider unique, and I'm not fond of traditional names. Sometimes I think the hardcore anti-unique-names people have been very sheltered and just have a small pool of names that they consider standard. Our President has a name that is unusual in the US, so I'm pretty sure it will be OK for future Attorneys General to have unusual names.

I didn't realize I may have contributed to such a controversy...I'm sincerely sorry (no sarcasm/snark). I didn't intend on a 9 month rant (and hope that we won't be hearing it for along time), just more of a pity party as I thought I'd have more time with my regular britches. Well, I didn't think my UO would cause so much tension. Personally, I haven't had any encounters of women being bitchy, I was just making a statement because I have heard others complain about it. I agree that you need to be able to take some criticism some days, but that doesn't mean people have to be hateful. I, for one, can take whatever someone throws at me because of the profession I chose, but others tend to be more sensitive. Just a statement ladies, sorry for the conflict. Have a wonderful day.

I agree with PP's that The Bump is a tell it like it is place. When support is needed it will definitely be received but no one is going to hold your hand and hair pat everything you say.

Wys, you're not helping your case by calling out the people who called you out. I would just step away and call it a day, this is an argument that is going to happen a thousand more times between now and all of our due days.
