Re: TTC Check In
I wrote a long post about my RE appointment on Friday, and nothing has changed since then. Hoping to get my period around the time we get back from vacation so we can get this show on the road!
QOTW: We're on vacation this week and that's pretty much what we've been looking forward to all summer. Other than that, sad to say but I am looking forward to getting my stinking period since without it we can't move forward!

We are 13dpiui and C's AF is supposed to arrive on Thursday...This is the first time we've TTC'd with the trigger shot so I am a little unsure how the end of this TWW is going to go. I am not sure if it will make her cycle longer or shorter or when we could test without getting a false positive...any suggestions?
This is my first TWW not being a carrier and being the supporter so it has been different but I am feeling anxious as we reach the end of our wait and the BFN or BFP is revealed!
QOTW: This month is sort of calm for us, there isn't much I am looking forward to except just being with my love and seeing what sort of adventures we can get into...hopefully celebrating our little peanut!
Queer coupled and having a BABY with the love of my life! Love my life and wouldn't have it any other way!

Good Morning!
@ball.and.chain - where in Maine are you? That is where my family is from. I only lived there until I was 6, and then we moved to the Boston area, but I grew up vacationing there often and still have a lot of family there.
@firstcomeslove2013 - congrats on making it to 13piui! Almost there! I think by now the trigger is likely out of C's system. I also never had the patience to test out the trigger, but most people that do say that it is usually gone by day 10 or 11. Everyone's body is different, but I think you are likely in the clear. How is C feeling? Fingers crossed for you two!
As for me, today is CD4. I had my CD3 blood work and starting my birth control pills yesterday. I am still not over the irony of the BCPs. I have never taken them before in my life. It was funny, the flow of my period was slowed, but still definitely there when I took the BCP yesterday, within 3-4 hours, it was virtually gone. It has also given me a headache the last 2 days, but I hear that is normal. Oh well, small potatoes compared to what is ahead.
I called my RE's office this morning to get the results of my blood work from yesterday, and hopefully confirm that I will be getting my calendar today. I am now waiting for a call back. I am so anxious to get my calendar and see what our tentative dates will be for ER and transfer... I will likely update again later if/when I get the calendar. We also have our IVF orientation class tonight at 5pm. So I will be getting lots of info, I am sure.
Oh, and lastly, my new obsession is with trying to stick to a high protein, low carb diet as a way to increase success of this IVF cycle. I have read about it a lot, and heard that especially the low carb diet has had a lot of proven success. I don't really eat bread or pasta, so I though (wrongly) that low carb would be easy for me. Turns out that there are tons of carbs in the "healthy" food I am eating (bananas, greek yogurt, pears...). So now I am kind of freaked out about that. Any of you experienced IVFers ever try the low carb thing? tips? I am really hoping that I am just overthinking this...
QOTD: I am looking forward to our 1 year wedding anniversary on 8/26. We were going to try to take some time off that week and do a little stay-cation with some day trips, but now that we will have our ER and transfer within a few weeks of that (hopefull), I don't think we will be taking that time off. Maybe one day... I have lots to look forward to in September, so I will happily push through August without time off.
Me - 30, My wife - 31 , Together for 10 yrs - Married August 2012
5 medicated IUIs w/ RE (March - July 2013) = BFN
Fresh IVF Cycle in September 2013 resulted in 18 mature eggs, 16 fertilized, 12 made it to day 5. Transfer of 2 Grade A blastocysts on 9/15/13, and 10 embryos in the freezer! *****BFP on 9/25/13 - betas: @10dp5dt = 232; @12dp5dt = 465; @15dp5dt = 1,581 *********William George born June 4, 2014*********@ball.and.chain - Happy vacation! I am thinking red thoughts for you
@firstcomeslove - FX this is it! I can imagine it must be so different being on the other side of things. I hope you get great news!
@KH826 - So excited for your cycle! As for low-carb, I've done it - many times. One suggestion is to look up Paleo websites - Paleo diet is pretty much low carb with a few exceptions. I don't know how low you are going, but below 40 is brutal and no fun. When I had a good nutritionist, I aimed for 80 or less a day, and tried to keep to no more than 15-20 in a single meal/sitting. Most carb 'servings' are about 15. So it allowed some fruit, or sweet potato, etc. Good luck - it's an adjustment!
AFM, I've seen better weeks than last week. My period/mini-miscarriage was brutally painful - and I caved and took two doses of oxy, which then left me feeling seasick (on land) for most of Friday, and residually bound up with the associated physical fun of that over the weekend. Oh, and did I mention that even though I was only 'pregnant' for a week, I'm still so, so sad. And frustrated. And trying with all my might not to lose hope.
So on that front, I went for my final (eff u) beta on Friday (it was zero) and ran into my RE. She hugged me so long I tried to release twice before she let me go on the third attempt. And she's not a hugger, I am. It was sweet. She said "oh, we are so far from being done - don't you worry!" which was reassuring. I also saw the MFM for a second opinion on my low antithrombin III bloodwork (blood clotting) and agreed to a middle-of-the-road approach should I get pregnant. So I will take lovenox shots once we see a heartbeat until 12-16 weeks. She said 12, J said "how about 16? and 1 day?" (which is when we lost our first one). We also discussed putting in 2 and both she, and then my RE, said we are sticking to a single embryo transfer for me (I have thyroid issues (though it performed perfectly in pregnancy #1), and I used to be super fat so I have a greater risk of GD....and I had a 2nd tri miscarriage). So that was good news in my book. Because we only have 2 left, and I'm not ready for it to be over if this next shot doesn't work.
I've worked on some back-up plans too. 1) We are going to two adoption info sessions next week. 2) My clinic kindly reserved our Egg Donor's last clutch of frozen eggs - 8 of them - in their frozen egg bank, for free. If our next cycle doesn't work, we are considering doing another round. If we keep our Egg Donor (to whom I've grown attached), we would pretty much only get one more shot using frozen eggs + we'd choose a new sperm donor. 3) If we're willing to spend a little more, we could do a new Egg Donor + new sperm donor and likely get some frozen and have multiple tries like this time. But I'm 42, and I'm not sure how many more tries my ole' body is up for (or my emotions). And we'd have to wait a couple/few months for a new egg donor, and like her, etc. So I'm just hoping no back-up plans need to be put into motion! But, we have plans. That helps.
QOTW: J is opening her 3rd coffeeshop this month, so not much fun is going on as she is busy and working to manage her stress, so I'm trying to pick up slack around the house. Our EDD for our loss baby is 8/29, and I'm not looking forward to that but my sisters birthday is the day before, so hoping that will be a nice distraction.

New Plan: Reciprocal IVF, me as carrier wife's eggs. Just went through insurance and received partial approval, so my part will go through my IVF benefits and wife's part will be out of pocket. Now just finalizing finance plans to cover the oop costs. Doctors office is in process of moving to a new building so there are no IVF start ups until March/April 2015.
As A said we are 13dpiui and it is hard to think about anything else.... I have continued to run and that seems to be the only time I can keep my mind of the poppy seed. Physically I feel crampy, but I have a sneaking suspicion that has little to do with TTC and more a product of the amount if unhealthy food we consumed this weekend (including a funnel cake at the stage fair...). Also... May nipples may or may not be sore. I say that, because I check to see if thy are sore so often, I think I have made them sore. Sometimes I jump up and down just to see if it hurts...
A has been amazing and courageous and wonderful. So now we are trying to decide when to test. We triggered on cycle day 12, I don't usually o until day 15. So it seems like our TWW maybe tw+2d.
Oh well.... Whatever will be will be and we will still have each other.
QOTD: This is the last week of summer camp, then I have two weeks of wrap up and then a week of vacation! We aren't going anywhere, but we are going to start packing to move to our new house!

@2Mamaz - well, seeing as I have already had 62g of carbs today (banana and greek yogurt with a little granola), I think I am screwed! I calculated out my whole day, and it looks like after lunch and dinner, I would be at 121g of carbs. UGH! I hate this. I am eating really well right now, and it seems so unfair to cut out the fruit that I am eating. I mean for goodness sakes, I am not eating donuts and muffins and chocolates. It seems mean that I have to give up my banana and pear. I will have to think about this and ask my Dr...
Also, you have very much impressed me with your back-up plans. Not that I think you will need them. I think you will definitely NOT need them! But, the fact that you have them, is super impressive. You have a plan A, B, C and D. Most people are just struggling with Plan A. I know I have said this before, but I think that you and J are just so amazing. You have every right (and then some) to feel sad and frustrated after last week, but the fact that you just keep pushing through and coming up with your contingency plans is just really inspiring. You have inspired me to find more strength and courage within myself. Here's to September 16th!

We've been working on baby #1 since July 2013 using Open ID donor sperm. 8 IUI attempts with 5 actual IUIs and one chemical pregnancy. We have one fresh IVF cycle under our belts as well as a FET. I have endometriosis and a uterine septum that was corrected via surgery in November 2013.
11/14/14 - Second HSG shows that tubes are still clear and ute is looking good.
12/6/14 - Started BCPs in prep for IVF #2
12/22/14 - Saline u/s and endometrial scratch (All was clear and OUCH!)
1/2/15 - Began stimming for IVF #2
****All Welcome!****
We are Mommas to four fur babies - 3 dogs and 1 cat.
If it's any consolation, I'm going to be excited when my period arrives, too. So excited I'll probably buy a bottle of champagne to celebrate. I haven't seen a drop of blood since the beginning of June. I skipped my period last month. And my boobs hurt so bad right now I literally wince when I take my bra off.
Dear Aunt Flo: HURRY UP!!!!!!!!!! Seriously. The wait is maddening and I can't move forward until you arrive. And you missed your visit last month, so you better make an appearance soon!
I'm wondering if my doctor can force my period to start. He said he could, but I'd really rather just wait for it to appear organically. Damned uterus. Wish it would contract, bleed, and free me from painful boobies.
Queer coupled and having a BABY with the love of my life! Love my life and wouldn't have it any other way!

We are 7 days out from FET. Had an ultrasound yesterday and my lining is 7.5-8mm thick, which is right where they want it. I start the progesterone Thursday (anyone have some advice on injections?). They are keeping my estrogen where it is and said all my levels look great. I guess it is just a waiting game at this point.
I am looking forward to our FET this month AND I am looking forward to moving. J has been driving two hours to work one way and I am ready to be together more often and be able to spend every night together.

We're queer. I'm 33, have severe stage 4 endo, and had both fallopian tubes removed. My love ("Manada" on the boards, 32) was diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve. We did Partner IVF (my eggs, her uterus). We lost our twins Tavin and Casey at 21 weeks gestation.
Our IUIs
with @Manada: IUI# 1-7 (December 2012- September 2013) all BFN. Tried natural, femara, clomid, puregon/follistim, clomid and menopur combo, both the ovidrel and HCG triggers.
Our IVFs:
IVF #1 my eggs November/December 2013: Cancelled IVF due to poor response
IVF #2 my eggs/Manada's uterus January/February 2014
BCPs and lupron overlap Stimmed: 1/22-2/2: Bravelle and Menopur (dosage ranged from B300 and M150 to B375 and M150 to B300 and M225)
2/4 retrieved 10 eggs. Endo was much worse than expected. Only 3 eggs fertilized; February 7 transferred two day 3 embryos, froze one. All great condition.
BFP eve of 6dp3dt; Beta 1 (11dp3dt): 110; Beta 2 (13dp3dt): 175; Beta 3 (15dp3dt): 348; Beta 4 (19dp3dt): 2222; Beta 5 (21dp3dt): 4255

FET #1 December 2014
Quick up date: Looks like femara makes my LP a little longer than normal AF showed up this morning. Though I truly thought it wasnt my cycle for a BFP but when AF showed up it still felt pretty crappy. I just have to get through today waiting for RE to call. Probably doing another round of femara becuase I did respond well to it last cycle. Our sprem bank will be giving us a free vial since we havent gotten pregnant so thats one plus for this next cycle
So looking forward to my vacation that starts tomorrow much needed relaxtion ahead.
