I'm supposed to start pio tomorrow. Initially the re said in the am, but said I could do pm if I need to be able to have someone else do them. I'm also doing crinone daily 12 hrs apart from the shot.

I've never done pio, so for those that have, I need an opinion. Is it better to do it in the am or pm? Thanks!!

I've only done them in the evening. I do them around 7pm, massage, walk around some, and sit on a heating pad if need be.

Also, I have to say that the PIO is much better than the vag. pills. It really has only hurt a couple times if we got a bad spot, and i was only sore the first few days. Now it's nothing. You just have to get past that first week and then it's easy!

I don't know why, but the PIO takes us forever. I heat up my rear and the oil in my bra for 10 mins or so, give the shot, massage, then back to heating pad. Evening hours just seems more convenient for all of that! Plus, I'd have to get up at 5 am if I did it in the morning because I refuse to try to give myself this injection. DH has to do it. I just know I'd pass out with the needle still in there!

It's not bad though. I haven't had any real pain or soreness during the IVF or this FET. GL

I've never done it, but my doctor said to do AM because then you are moving all day and it gets worked into your muscle.

I do mine in the afternoon right before I go to work. I am on my feet all night as a server and I think that helps work the oil into the muscle bc I've not had any lumps or bad bruising. I do make sure to heat up the oil before injecting.

AM! We started in the PM the first few days but I was SO sore the next day and it bothered me at night (I had DH massage it and everything before I went to sleep). Asked my RE to switch to the AM and she said I could as long as I did it the very next morning. Best idea b/c even though I have a desk job, I was still moving around more than I do at night and it wasn't as sore. Good luck!

I prefer p.m. That is what my RE recommended and that seems to work best with my schedule. I found that using heat after (microwavable compress or heating pad) and sort of massaging the area with it works well to prevent soreness and lumps the next day and there is more time for that in the evening.

On prior cycles excluding 4th, I always did mine before bed with my crinone.

Evening about an hour before bed. We are pretty quick at it now, DH assembles the shot while I feed the kitties, gives the shot, and then I change the kitty waterbowls, brush my teeth, shut the blinds, all the nightly chores.. I think the walking around the house after the shot helps.

I use Progesterone in Ethyl Oleate and I like it better than the sesame oil. The prog ethyl oleate is thinner, you can use the 25gauge needle, goes in pretty quick. The sesame we had to use a larger needle, and took longer to push in...

Hmm, didn't realize there were different kinds of PIO. I'm using the ethyl oleate too so I guess my needles are smaller? It's been easy so far. My RE said time of day really didn't matter for my FET so I just started doing it in the morning after my shower. That's when I change my patches too so it's easy to do it all at once. It's been almost a week and my butt is sore but no lumps and the injections don't hurt.

I take mine at 8pm but man my butt hurts. Out of all the shots I have taken over the past few weeks this is the worst to me. The shot itself is not hard just slow but soreness after is my problem. We do massages, heat etc and I still ache. I think bc my butt was lumpy to begin with lol

We've always done it at night. The process is just too involved for me to want to add it into my morning routine. I have enough trouble getting out the door!

We did them at 6pm every night. That way, DH was home to inject me (I refused to do it myself) and it was early enough that it wouldn't interfere with dinner/going out.

This is what we do, although I've only taken one so far.

Iv only done them in the evening. I would think that doing them in the am would be good too because you use your muscles more and maybe it would absorb better.
