I have one that's actually flammable. It doesn't happen to me often, but if I got undercharged or not charged at all for an item at a store, I wouldn't go back to the store to alert them to the mistake. I would just think I was having a good day, and go on my merry way.

    Yep I'm totally with you

+1 (or 2, as it were)

I guess the only exception would be if it were some huge item, but those are rarely slipping out of the store anyway.

I think this was a FFC a while back, and some poster, can't remember who, got ripped a new one about a carseat from Target or something. Maybe it was on another board.

Daycare did it for us. I was glad to outsource that.

Yep me too. I just followed through at home with what they were doing.

  • Betsy's birthday party was June 15th and I haven't sent thank you notes yet.  I have them all written, but I accidentally threw away the list of addresses I compiled for the invitations and I've been too lazy to look up all those addresses all over again.  I'll see most of the moms from the party at a function I'm going to on Tuesday, and I'm really, really tempted to just hand over the TY notes to them then and there.

FFFC: I'm a officially a Mommy Dearest. I'm out of swimmers so I put DD in her bathing suit commando. Well before we made it outside she peed. My instant reaction was to yell "Noooooo". That of course scared the crap out of her and every time she peed outside she would cry and say "uh oh". I feel like a piece of shiit.

dont feel so bad.  It's hard not to react in the moment.  Just try and react the way you want to from here on out.  If she learned to be upset about peeing outside so quickly she can unlearn it too.

DD2 hid behind between her crib and rocking chair after a bath, and peed all over the floor. I could actually hear it hitting the floor. She looked at me like she knew she was doing something not good. Iwasthisclose to putting a diaper on her when she ran and hid.

At least its a wood floor and cleaned up easily. A rug or carpet might have pissed me off.

I keep telling myself that I'm going to create some actual database of addresses so that I don't have to constantly ask all the time.  I never do.

This also just reminded me that I need to send a thank you note for something from Memorial Day.  Sh!t.

I still haven't sent out thank you cards from the girls' birthday in March. I meant to, but with my mom and DH's shift change, I never got the chance. I am thinking of making a generic thank you card from Snapfish or something. Otherwise, it won't get done.

    I feel douchey about it.

Today is my last day at my job. I have been here almost 6 years. When I told them 2 weeks ago they seemed ok with me leaving. I have practically ran their business for the last 6 years I know that they want me to feel like they are happy for me since they are smaller (family owned) and I am moving on to a bigger company that I can have more opportunities with and retire from, but a part of me is sad that no one asked if there was something that they could do or that no one seems sad (besides my co-worker) that I am leaving. I realize that I am being bratty, but I thought we had a better relationship than we did.

Also I plan on doing nothing today, but bumping and cleaning out my favorites here at work and emailing them to me so that I have them at  home!

I would take a different perspective on it.  You've been there for 6 years, you have demonstrated obvious skill in your profession, and you have probably advanced in your current company as far as you can go.  They have most likely known for a long time that you will eventually leave to seek better opportunities that they cannot provide for you.  I'm not surprised that they haven't asked you to stay or whatever, it's not in their best interest or yours.  On their side, they recognize it would only be a temporary solution and eventually you would leave, and on your side you recognize that it's not the place for you long-term.

6 years is a LONG time to stay in one place.  You are probably paid more than  someone who is entry level in your position.  It's natural for employees to turn over.

Thanks! I know you are probably right and that they do care enough to want good things for me.

For not returning something that was under a car seat?  Or for not paying for an actual car seat?

I want to think it was the actual car seat. But I don't remember. It had something to do with the poster ending up with a free car seat from Target, and she tried to argue it was Target's fault or sumshit.

I forgot how much stress a new baby can bring into a marriage, even a strong one. I've been on and off annoyed with H lately and I feel like we keep rehashing the same argument...literally word for word.

I would say this is my number one fear with getting KTFU again.

It is a big reason that I am content with one and don't have a desire for another baby. We hated each other the first couple of months and while we have worked on things and are better it is still different. I am afraid of what another baby would do to us.

That's definitely up there on the scale of things I judge.  How the hell does a cashier miss something like a car seat, anyway?  It's not like it's a small object that can easily be passed over.

We ended up not getting charged for a filing cabinet once. Dh went back to pay for it. It's not because we are MUST ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING people but we've both worked in banks and currencies and if we came up short, we had to pay it back. We know how it feels to make a mistake like that.

My kid has been a cranky, fussy, clingy mess lately...but its been tolerable. Though, the last few nights he's been fighting bedtime like crazy, pretty much screaming his head off for a good 20 to 30 minutes, even with me or dh comforting him, before he falls asleep. I use tylenol or motrin when necessary, but prefer not to give it too much.

Anywho...DS has now started rolling over in his crib. When I found him sleeping on his belly at 530 this morning, I flipped him over. That apparently started WW3 and he screamed his head off again. I got so fed up from being just plain tired that I lost my cool, raised my voice a little, and said ''just relax and go the f'uck back to sleep!''.

He eventually flipped back onto his belly and fell back asleep. I feel like a horrible mom for not having more patience. He's only a baby.

I know the feeling. Hugs, mama.

  • On the period tip.

I can't go to the bathroom without an entourage. DDs were playing in the bathroom and I had to change the tamp. I sat down, because I didn't want to yank it out in front of DD1, who sees EVERYTHING. She pushes my legs apart and says, "Mommy, why are you making a doody with string in it?" Not wanting to have the period talk with my 3 yr old, I let her think that I, in fact, ate string, and was pooping it out.

Now she has to check all the time to see if I ate more string.

My dog seems to think the vacuum is a demon sent from hell.

My dogs feel the same way about the vac.  So I had H hold them in his lap.  One of them actually ended up enjoying it, while the other freaked the eff out.

It didn't really help though, they're still shedding like a mother and I have a fur couch.

Dude, get a Furminator!  One of my friends recommended it to me because she has great success with it for her dog, and that thing really is magical.  I've used it on my dogs, and it really cuts back on the shedding while removing a ton of the dead hair from their coat.

I swear if it works that well, I'm going to Petco on my lunch break.

    Do they sell it there??

You can probably buy it there, but it's much, much cheaper on Amazon or ebay.

Do you have pugs? (I'm guessing from your avatar). With a super short fur, like that you might do better with one of those rubber grooming gloves. IMO, the furminator works better on dogs and cats with a fluffy undercoat, like my siamese mix. It doesn't really grab the fur on my weim because her coat is so short.

    I have no patience with our dog since we had DS. He's seriously anasshole. Like, if we leave the house after dinner to do anything other than take him on a walk, he'll shiit in the playroom. His whole life is a quest to eat trash, too, half of which he leaves scattered in the floor. It's hard enough for me to be patient with a toddler, all my patience reserves are tapped out when it comes to the damn dog.I have to constantly tell myself I really do love him. Then I feel like a diick. At least he's cute.nbsp;

Coincidentally my dog's name is also Little Jerry and he is a total jerk too. Loves to mark stuff in the house, especially DD's stuff. He also only cares about us when food is involved otherwise we get snubbed. There are many other issues. He drives us nuts! So aggravating!!!

That's great, have we talked about our dogs having the same name before?

Ours is a beagle, so no more beagles for me, haha. I forgot to add that he frequently barfs up the trash he pilfers in the middle of the night onto our comforter. Fu'cker.

That sounds similar to the fur structure of my Bostons.  The rubber brushing mitts don't cut it here, either.  It never ceases to amaze me how much hair I find all over the house!  I know short haired dogs shed, but when we adopted them I never expected them to shed quite this much.

    Vacuum's such an awkward word.

Shedding is weird. Our first pet was a long haired cat, which I assumed must be the worst shedder ever, but second only to our wire-haired terrier, she was the least sheddy of our pack. Our short-haired cat and our super-short-haired dog absolutely shed the most and I was definitely not expecting that.

I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that pet hair will be on every surface of my house forever.

  • Last weekend it was super rainy so we decided to take Betsy to see Despicable Me 2.  I bought the tickets in advance online.  When we got to the theater, it was POURING.  Halfway across the parking lot, the wind killed my umbrella and I had to run with Betsy the rest of the way.  By the time we made it inside we were both as drenched as if we'd just jumped in a swimming pool fully clothed.  We should've just gone home.  But instead I tried to dry us under the hand dryer in the bathroom.  The noise scared Betsy so badly that she bolted from the bathroom and across the lobby before we could catch her.  So then I made DH hold her in her underwear outside of the bathroom while I dried off her dress, my shirt and my hair under the hand dryer.  Then we were all sightly damp and uncomfortable for the entire movie.  And it wasn't even very good.

My confession is that I knew we should have just gone home immediately after getting drenched.  But I had already paid $27 for tickets so I made us stay.

absolutely.  what are you doing on sunday?

Going to a small local music fest. Drivin N Cryin are the headliners, the rest of the bill is mostly local country, alt-country or southern rock acts. There's also going food trucks and a burlesque show. Should be fun.

We're not planning on getting sh!tfaced or anything, but lately, if I have more than two adult beverages in a night or stay up past about midnight, I feel like poo the next day, so I figured I'd just use a vacation day, rather than coming in and being a grump all day. In my 20s I wouldn't have thought anything of doing this on a work night, but now it's like a big deal. I'm such an old lady!

You can't really get dropped at the door because the theater fronts this big open courtyard thing (it's in an outdoor mall type place).  It wasn't much more of a walk from the side lot and since I had an umbrella I thought we'd be fine.  Not so much.

I was looking at my phone while DD was climbing onto the chair this morning with her cereal bowl in one hand. I leaned down to help her and somehow lost control of my phone.

I dropped it onto her back. Cue epic crying fit from DD and absolutely the largest pile of Mommy Guilt for me. I should have not been on my phone.

But some good did come out of it. We got have a major cuddle session and I almost never get any cuddles anymore because DD is so on the go all the time. So that was nice.

Of course, it would have been nicer if the extra cuddles didn't come because of something I did...
