Feeling super upset right now. I've been pregnant 5 times and have never failed a test before. I went Monday for the 1 hour test and the dr called today and told me that my numbers were 152, they want to see it under 139. So now next Wednesday I have to go for the 3 hour.
I called the dr last week to see what was safe to eat so I don't fail and the receptionist told me butter bread was good to eat. Soooo....I was starving and had 4 pieces lol.about 2 hrs prior to the test. Now that I think about it.. Bread is carbs and carbs turn into sugar. Could this have been why I failed? Damn that woman for telling me it was ok to eat bread!!!! I'm not happy about this at all and need some words of encouragement or a similar story to mine.
Re: I failed my glucose screening, now I have to do the 3hr test.
I have no idea why someone would tell you that. The receptionist is clearly not knowledgeable about what they are testing and how the test works. I wonder how many women have failed due to that bad advice.
Do NOT eat after midnight for the 3 hour test. The three hour is a sucky test. I'll be honest. But, you only have to do it once.
Just bring a cup of ice and a straw. Get the drink REAL cold and CHUG CHUG CHUG. That's the only way I can handle it. Too sweet otherwise.
GD is really not the horror many people think it is. I had it with my last pregnancy and it was no big deal. Hell, if nothing else, I got about 10 ultrasounds over the course of my pregnancy. :-) Towards the end, they were weekly. Relax, and just take the test. Stress can decrease your body's insulin and raise blood sugar. Also, certain medicines raise blood sugar. Just be calm. All will be fine, regardless.
