Re: UO

here's a super UO for you.  I hate how teachers complain ALL THE TIME.  I'm not saying all teachers.  but the ones that do complain blah blah blah blah.  I get that you can't force parents to be there for your kids and you don't want their test scores to reflect on you that way.  but guess what...it's the same way in business....you take over someone's crappy account and it's still considered part of your work!  and don't get me started on.....when is summer going to be here, why aren't we getting a snow day, etc etc.  It just blows my mind.

*disclaimer* for those non complaining teachers, thank you.  you would stand out as being a rock among my wishy washy teacher friends.

One of my dearest friends is a teacher and this year was begging for summer. We had so many snow days it was ridiculous. I have so much respect for her. She teaches special needs kids in a crappy district. She has bruises all over from being punched, kicked, hit etc. Yeah it comes with the territory but it still sucks. Imo she can whine to me any day.

I really feel for teachers especially around here. I know how hard they work and what little compensation they get.  Also don't get me started on standardized test scores...

We are homeschooling though and that's a topic for another day. ;)

no need to get your panties in a wad sugar.

and FWIW- I totally believe in MS although it is not something I have had to suffer through too much thankfully.

My panties are just fine, thank you very much. I just find it a little short sighted of you that just because you didn't experience cravings that must mean that all women use that as an excuse to eat like crap. Also, cravings aren't always crappy food. Some women crave fruits and veggies.

I am glad to see you believe in morning sickness. For a minute there I thought you were going to be a full fledged sanctimommy!

    Yes

Not all pregnancies are the same & not all women are the same. This may be an UO post, but throwing out an UO that straight forward insults most of the people on this board is bad form. Just sayin... Sugar - I'm with you. I had zero cravings my first time around, & this time there are things I have to have... nothing else tastes good til I get it & sometimes it triggers my m/s until I get it.  Doesn't matter what it is, a carrot stick or a whopper!

I know, I am weird.  I think Ryan Gosling is cute.  I kinda like the "cute" type more.

I don't know if cute is the term i would use for Ryan Gosling- damn sexy or smoking hot is more what i think when I think of him. :P

I have another one.nbsp; I do not think Channing Tatum is good looking.nbsp; And the movie "Magic Mike" made me feel icky.....and I did not even watch it.nbsp; Just the previews made me feel skeevy.
    Agreed!

I am glad I am not alone on this one!

It's just you two on the anti Channing island. You're getting water boarded until you like him!!!!! :p

I WILL STAY STRONG!!!!  HAHA  Hey, and there was one more coming to live on the island.  We will just watch Ryan Gosling movies instead.

I can't post this on my BMB for my DD because it was inspired by some posts this week.

I think women that never take time for themselves after they become moms are a bit crazy. Those that blame their Hs for never allowing them time or giving them time. Don't wait for him to give you a night off. Take it! Just say "I'm seeing a movie with Michelle. I'll be home at 10." He's not your father. You don't need permission. He is perfectly capable of watching the kids. And if he's not? Or you don't trust him to? WhyTF did you have kids with him? Make him be capable. He will never learn if you do everything for him.

Oooh yes.  I have a few Martyr Moms among my friends, and frankly, this is why I waited so long to become pg - since I didn't want to be like them. I have another friend who has never left her kids alone with DH, and her oldest is NINE. DH has never changed a diaper!!! WTF. As you said - why did you have kids with him then? And/or she feels like she needs to be in charge of that to feel like she has a purpose? Not sure.

    Agree.

I didn't have a lot of cravings with N but I've had a few this time. If I don't get it it can be a trigger to m/s as well!

    agreeeeeed!

I have a few friends who have purposefully kept their kids away from tv/iphones/ipads etc because they think they will be detrimental to their education. My UO is that I think parents who keep their kids away from ipads are restricting their education. Ipads are the learning tools of the future. Kindergarten classes are issuing them out for each student now to use. Why not give your kids a headstart in learning how they work, and solve simples puzzles and what not on them? You don't have to go overboard, DS only plays with ours a couple of times a week but he already can solve puzzles, spell words and play games.

Same!  For me, it has been raspberries (preferably frozen). It's one of the few foods that has tasted good throughout the terrible m/s stage...and when I have to have them, I HAVE to have them RIGHT NOW!  It's really not so much about cravings as it is about needing to eat something and only being able to tolerate certain things.  I don't care what anyone else thinks about my food choices, if I am in pain from needing to eat and brownies are all I can stand at that exact moment, that's what I'm going to eat!  :)

My unpopular opinion is that is doesn't bother me AT ALL when people who are in first tri claim to have a "bump".  It drives me crazy when people jump all over them and say "It's NOT a BUMP, it's BLOAT!"

Who the F cares what it is, it wouldn't be there if you weren't pregnant!!!!  And who's to say the exact moment the "bloat" turns to a legitimate "bump"?  I just don't understand why people make such a big deal out of this on the bump.

Doesn't bother me when other people talk about their own...they know their own bodies, so they're the experts on when their bump starts to show.  But I really can't stand when people talk about my body or "see" my bump that truly doesn't exist yet. Someone this weekend touched my "bump," when in reality I had just been really bloated that day and was ready to let some gas escape at any moment.  It was more the touching that bothered me, but it just made me a little self conscious.  Don't get me wrong - I'm excited for when I can actually see my bump growing, but it's not yet, so it feels awkward to have someone point out the fact that one bite of food makes me gassy and uncomfortable!

Here's one that should make me VERY unpopular. DS refused to BF (we seriously tried everything) so I had to pump for him and it was so stressful and I hated it so much that I'm considering whether to even try with this LO.

I could have written this word for word.  I am hoping this baby will latch and breastfeed but if not, I honestly don't know if I will be able to go the pumping route again, especially with a toddler running around...
