appt tomorrow

First off, my ticker is a week off so ignore that, but I have my "38" wk appt tomorrow, but will be 38 wks 4 days.  I was planning on opting out of having an internal.  I don't particulary like the doctor I am scheduled to see (there are 6 in the practice) and don't really see the point of going through the internal at this point.  Have any of you opted out of an internal?

    I've declined them all up until this point. I see no point in them, except for getting your hopes up. The nurse tried to push me into getting one yesterday, saying she's never seen someone decline at 39 weeks. When the midwife came in, she didn't even mention it.

    This. Knowing that dilation and effacement mean practically nothing until actual labor, and seeing it firsthand on this board from all the ladies who have been getting them, I'm just not interested in finding out. LO will come when she's ready and I see no point in going through the discomfort as a matter of routine.

    I declined as well but ended up getting one a few days before my induction. I was not even 1 cm, barely effaced. The next night my water broke, still only 1 cm and I had my son 10 hours later. The same thing happened with Ds1. I don't even start to dialate until I'm in labor. So, for me, internals mean nothing!
