What names do you love that you know you'll never use whether it's because your family is complete or you just know it can't happen?
Mine are:
Girls:
Pearl
Enid
Mae [this may still be a middle name though]
Alice
Philipa [Pippa]
Fiona
Astrid
Boys:
Gideon
Jonah
Jude
Elliot
Kai
Harry

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?
Re: Unused names
I can only think of a few off the top of my head right now but I know I have more!
Girls:
Audrey (possible mn if we have another girl)
Ariadne (DH HATES this name)
Boys:
Conner/ Connor
Boys: Carmen, if up to my hubs Amir would have been, Elijah [Eli for short]
Girls: Scarlett, Lucia, Valentina and Antonia
Boys: Derek, Enzo (Lorenzo), Leo
ETA: A few girl names I forgot
Isis was on my name list in high school!
I love Eleanor and Andrew, but DH doesn't. Right now, the plan would be Andrew as a MN if we have another boy.
The Welsh spelling of Howell is Hywel, pronounced hugh-ELLE. We went with the Anglo version to save him a lot of headaches. My name has always been a problem with stupid questions.H's name is the Welsh version of Aidan and he always has to explain too. He will have to explain since it's not common in the US too but not as much.
ETA: I love Yves. I wonder if I could swing it...
Ophelia, Emily, Mary for girls
Jeremy, Jack, Oliver for boys
(This is all because DH and I reserve "veto power" for names we just flat out don't like... these were on the Veto list.)
I wasn't partial to any boy names. We had decided on Ian Michael if DD had been a DS.
For a girl, I would have loved to use Coraline - Cora for short. DH still likes Pepper and Tuesday.
Mabel, Frances, Camille, Charlotte
I love Frances. But we used Fransis for Howell's mn and H vetoed Fransis as a first name.
Connor. Adonisnn donny. Xander.
DS #1 Born: 10/03/06, DS #2 Born: 08/06/12 My Cooking Blog
Malachi. I would love a naughty little boy [nothing serious. Just coming home inexplicably covered in mud, talking too much at school, that kind of thing] and call him Mal, which I'm sure many of you know is Spanish for bad. I'd mean it lovingly so don't think I'm a terrible person. H doesn't like most Old Testament names.
I also love Ruth.
Edited. Why does iPhone make me omit words?
Oh and Malcolm was ruined for me because of a kid I had. He was terrible.
If your next delivery is even close to as difficult as your last [God willing it will be better], I think you can name our baby whatever ou want!
We think we are complete...
Names I would use:
Girls: Margo, Romy, Clementine, Thora, Daphne
Boys: Finn, Wolfgang, Julian, Ivor, Bram
Convince hi!!! That sibsetis too adorable ;)I
Girl:
Abbigail
Emerson
Piper (shut up)
Adelaide
Amelia (I really wanted to name M Amelia, but H just hated it)
Anna Claire
Boy:
Elliott
Casen
Alexander
Oliver
Max
I had no clue that name was in Inception! It's from a short play I really like. DH says no one could ever pronounce it. He's probably right but I still love it!!!
I totally agree here! I love the name Astrid but DH vetoed it too.
Oh, Adonis is one I forgot on my list! We apparently have similar taste in boy names!
It's pronounced are ee odd knee
Eta: bump mobile ate my hyphens!
These were all on my list but DH vetoed:
Caroline and Eliza
Andrew and Ryan (DH thought it was too weird if I had a boy Ryan and a cousin Ryan)
Ferris Bueller much? Sorry couldn't help thinking about it.
Boys:
Henry
Liam (this will most likely be the name of a ds if we have one)
Jack
James
Edward (Twilight ruined that)
Franklin (but they could never, never, go by the name Frank)
Thor
Finnigan
Girls:
Athena
Amelia
Corine
Nadia
Quinn
And I wish we would have named Cali, Callista, so she could have a long name with a nn. Thought DH wanted to name her California, and I flat out refused.
What's the nn?
We are done but if I was a baby factory and I had full naming rights here's my list:
girls:
boys:
Av, Em and Keen are their shortened nns, you know? So that's why.
Maisie and Maeve, Henry and Graham.
Ugh. Thinking about it almost makes me want to have more babies.....
We are one and done, so we have a few unused names. Our boy name (Paul Steven, after DH's friend who passed away and DH's dad) likely will not get used. Our other girl name is Lucy Grace. I'm kind of sad about not using that one. (Grace is my grandma's name.)
If DH hadn't said, "It's a Charlotte!" when she was born, I might have hemmed and hawed between that and Lucy for a day or two.
Imogene
Lucy (it is my dog's name and in my very stable pregnant state I wanted to name dd Lucy and change the dog's name to freckles, H vetoed thank god)
Minnie
Penelope
Elena
SO hates every name I like.
Girls: Lucia, Calliope, Isobel, Giuliana, Rosa
Boys: Diego, Joaquin, Hugo, Simon (with an accent over the i), Julian, Miguel
Oh and if my kid wasn't 1/2 Mexican
Girls: Evelyn, Madeline, Alexandra (no NN)
Boys: Remington, Everett
SCANDAL!
I know an Astrid who had the non Ati pronounced aw tee.
Adelaide Emerson was my grandmother's name! If Gabriel had been a Girl, he would have been Adelaide :-) I wanted Emerson as a boys name BUT, that's the name of the company my husband works for, so it's a no go.
I forgot Lucia in my list. DH didn't like the nickname Lucy. I loved Lucia because it was both Hispanic and Italian.
I also like Joaquin, but not with our last name.
I just have to say as a total Spanish language nerd, please don't put an accent over the i in Simon. The accent goes over the o and if you change the placement you're also changing the pronunciation KWIM? So instead of being "see MOAN" it would be "SEE moan" which would be completely unnatural to say for Spanish speakers. I like the name, but only if it's pronounced correctly!

Rainbow Born 8/22, so in love with our little girl!
We are done, no more.
Girl:
Aubrey
Kathleen
Florence (family name as middle name)
Boy:
Eric (DH's grandpa's name)
Connor
Keith (DH and my deceased grandpa's name)
Luceine (Other grandpa's first name)
Silas: DH hates it.
Case: We plan on naming our first little girl Jaycee so that would be too close to rhyming for me.
Ridge: DH hates it.
Girls
Lilly: DH is not a fan.
Ella: there are far too many Ella's.
