My UO is VERY unpopular. I am *personally* anti-homosexual, but I don't see why that means I am against homosexuals. It's just for me, and since I am not lesbian, it really has no impact on anybody. It would only be wrong if I trashed someone else for being gay - which I don't. That's their life, and I expect them to have thought about it and come to their own conclusions. AND I also think I could be wrong! But if I say that out loud, I'm evil. I believe that the government should have nothing to do with marriage or deciding who should be allowed to marry who (basically that makes me pro-marriage equality). Although I am married, I don't think married people should have any extra benefits beyond what unmarried people have. It's such a hoax.

    tl;dr I'm anti-homosexuality and pro-marriage equality.

Your statement makes no sense, you contradict yourself and also sound ignorant.

Why not just say you are not a homosexual and have no homosexual tendencies, but you support homosexuals.

To say you are anti-homosexual, means you ARE anti homosexuals, not that you just aren't one.

Well... I did say it was unpopular >.^ Sorry for the confusion - I do think I can think homosexuality is wrong without having anything against homosexuals.

Let's break this away to another topic to clarify: I am super straight-laced. I remained a virgin until my wedding night. It was really difficult for me, but it was something I decided was the right thing to do for my life (there was plenty of catch up to be had... we had sex 2-5 times a day on our honeymoon. Thursday was the 5x >.^) Just because I thought saving myself for my husband was the right thing to do doesn't mean that I laid down the law on anyone else. My best friend lives with her boyfriend. She thought I was C.R.A.Z.Y for staying a virgin. I thought I was crazy. But just because I practiced abstinence doesn't mean I have a problem with ANYONE that didn't. Heck, it wasn't even a requirement for my spouse. It was my opinion that I applied to my life. Why can't I be pro-abstinence without having a problem with normal people?

    Hope that helps >.^

I think a major difference is that you get to choose to wait for marriage to have sex. You don't get to choose whether or not you are homosexual.

If you think it is wrong, that means that you wish people would what? Not do it? Not be homosexual? Supress their urge to do the "wrong thing"?

    My UO:

I know that medical care is free in Canada (except MSP), but for the most part, I think we have big problems with our medical system and I don't really like it. Hospitals are crowded, nurses are overworked and underpaid, doctor shortages, nurse shortages, long wait lists for surgeries, etc. etc.  Whenever I go to the doctor it's like as soon as I'm in his office he's in a hurry to get me out.

I would pay for better care.

I'm 50/50 with you on this one.

My SIL is a nurse, and I've seen her being overworked. Yes, hopitals are crowded and waiting list are crazy.

But we are so damn lucky to have it free. I can't think of how I'd feel if I received a big fat bill just for being sick.

Heck, I live in a province where IF treatment are free. I'll never ever ever complain about having to wait.

I understand she thinks it is wrong. And I know she can't help it, but it is so frustrating to hear when people think other people are wrong for simply being what they are. You can't ungay. I can't imagine if the roles were flipped and someone thought it was wrong for me to love my husband. It breaks my heart.

No, I don't think homosexuality is a choice. Just like I didn't think my sex drive was a choice. It is what it is.

It gets on my nerves when people say that they can't afford to get married.  Sure, some people have extenuating circumstances, but IME, most of the time they just can't afford the fancy ceremony and big party.  I don't care if you're living together until you can afford the dream wedding or if you choose to get married at the courthouse and have a fancy vow renewal later; I'll still buy you a lovely gift.  Stop acting like you've had to put your whole life on hold for a wedding.  It's a day.  Just one day.

I agree with a lot of this - hospitals, doctor shortages, etc, we have issues.  If I were basing it on my life/history, I might say I would pay for better care.  However, my family history makes me thankful.  My dad has a long history of health issues - I think 8 hip operations (kind of lost count), then fought (and beat) cancer - I can't imagine where my family would be now if we had to pay for all of that OOP.  I am grateful for the healthcare he's been able to receive.

First of all, it's not entirely free, I pay 66.50/month for MSP.

I hear what you're saying, but would it be the worst thing in the world if we had a two tier system? Care would be free for the people who couldn't afford it, but their would also be private clinics for the people who could.

There has to be a solution.  People should be able to find a family doctor no matter where they live.

Also WTF? IF treatments are free in Quebec? Jealous.

Well... I did say it was unpopular >.^ Sorry for the confusion - I do think I can think homosexuality is wrong without having anything against homosexuals.

    ...snip...

I don't understand.  You think homosexuality it wrong, but have nothing against homosexuals?  What do you think is wrong with homosexuality then, if it's not the people engaging in it and you think they have the right to marry?

I think I get it. She finds it "wrong" but isn't going to let her personal beliefs dictate their rights?

I understand she thinks it is wrong. And I know she can't help it, but it is so frustrating to hear when people think other people are wrong for simply being what they are. You can't ungay. I can't imagine if the roles were flipped and someone thought it was wrong for me to love my husband. It breaks my heart.

I still don't like the way it was put originally & I have a fundamental issue with anyone who thinks it's wrong to be gay. But I can respect her realizing that her beliefs are just that & should have no bearing on anyone else's life or rights.

Yay! I feel like we are coming to an understanding. And I would be heartbroken if I was told it was wrong to love my husband, too. I might be confused, but I am also empathetic >.^

Heck, I live in a province where IF treatment are free. I'll never ever ever complain about having to wait.

Hold the phone! IF treatments are free in Quebec??? I'm moving to Canada! We pay out the azz for our insurance & zero IF is covered. I mean not even a round of Clomid or Femara will be covered.

Just in Quebec, not all of Canada.

I have just about had it with shitty care and long wait lists. Between my two m/c's and the clusterf*ck those were, the fact that I can't see a psychiatrist until November and my son can't see an allergist until February 2014 (which I have to drive four hours away to see), i'm just done.

I know that some people have it way worse as far as wait times and such go but I've just had it.

My doctor's office now has a rule that you must only discuss one health issue per visit and all additional issues need their own appointment. Between me and all my son's issues I don't have time to be at the doctor's office every damn week!

I've had similar experiences.  My doctor basically told me that my second miscarriage wasn't a real miscarriage.  I want to switch doctors but I can't because there aren't any others and I'm lucky that I even have one.

Also it takes about a week and a half for them to call me back with blood test results.  Actually sometimes they don't even call me, I have to call in, and then they don't remember what I am talking about.

I just ETA'ed my OP but I have to go in for every.single.test.result. It's a friggen nightmare.

I don't know what I would've told work if they made me do this.

Every time I go to the doctors office, even if it's just for a prescription refill, it takes like an hour and a half.  An hour and twenty minutes waiting because they are so behind, and then 10 minutes with the doctor.

If I had to go to the doctor for every single blood test result, I think I would get fired.

I think I would rather have the waitlists. I pay 300/month for my insurance and when I had to go to the hospital last month I came home with a 2000 bill. That ate up our entire safety net. I guess I just don't think anyone should go bankrupt to get medical care.

Oh ya for sure, I totally agree.  I think the U.S. has their own set of problems with medical care.  I just think there has to be a happy medium between the two systems.

DH and I told people that we couldn't afford to get married so they would stay off our backs about our long engagement.  (We got engaged kind of quickly after getting back together and we wanted to see how things went living together before we got married.)  When you bring money up, people always get uncomfortable and back down.  It was our go to response.

  • My UO - Its TTGP related! I think its stupid that people put "PNVs" in the "what are you doing?" sections of "waiting to O."  PNVs are a good idea but they aren't helping you get pregnant.  I read that section as what are you doing to stack the odds, not what are your best practices.

I received this as a birthday gift this year and I love it.  I've gotten a lot of compliments on it, too.  (Which I found odd, but hey)  I don't think it looks much different from any other leather bag.

Honestly, I've had 'cheaper' bags from Target, Nine West, JC Penney, etc.  None ever last as long as my Coach bags do, they're just well-made.  (But then again, I'm pretty hard on my purses and I do try to keep them for a couple of years)

Another. Vera Bradley bags are hideous. They look like something a senile and blind old grandma with no sense of style would buy at a thrift store or yard sale. I can't believe that people pay so much money for those ugly azz things. I don't care if they're functional, those things are fugly! And for the record some girls at work were looking at them the other night and went back through every pattern they've ever had...like back to the 80s and they're all fugly. So don't give me the "yeah some of the patterns are bad but there are some really cute ones" line cause its BS, BS!

damn those ugly bags get me fired up.

LOL! I thought I was the only one who hated those things so passionately! They're fugly as all hell!

Both of your names have been added to my post it.

is that the Vera Bradley haters post it? If so you can add me 5 times for my extreme hatred

You would hate being around me. I own like, 30 Vera bags and wallets/wristlets..My diaper bag for DS was Vera. My next diaper bag will be Vera. I effing love Vera.

Have you seen the new style diaper bag? I will be getting a Vera diaper bag when we get KU; I love them! The new baby bag is a little bit bigger and has a few detail differences.

I have another one and I sincerely hope that this doesn't offend anyone:

I am really liking TTC.  I like drinking the green tea and the pom juice and the sex and using the opks and paying attention to my cycle.  My first was a BIG oops (maybe a FFFC one day I'll explain) and our second was a bit of a surprise also so this time actually preparing for it and really trying is kind of empowering.  I know I may feel differently if I was trying for my first and/or it ends up taking longer than a year or so.

    You're lucky!

    I am way over TTCing.

And just a quick FYI, POM juice only increases your sugar intake.  It doesn't help with your lining. (Or so said some bumpies that were being monitored and had thin lining and were trying to thicken it up - POM did nothing)

I don't know why people continue to think it helps.  There are no scientific studies showing it helps.  None.  :/

I'm sorry :( I know that most here feel the way you do. I really hope I didn't make anyone feel extra shiity about it.

And thanks for the info about the pom juice! It's tasty, but expensive! I think I'll cool it a bit next cycle.

No, that shouldn't make anyone feel shitty.  I was excited when we first started.  It just gets old after a couple of years.  Don't be sorry about how you feel.  It's good to be excited about it.

And hopefully there won't be a "next cycle".  ;)

    Thanks :)

My UO - Its TTGP related! I think its stupid that people put "PNVs" in the "what are you doing?" sections of "waiting to O."  PNVs are a good idea but they aren't helping you get pregnant.  I read that section as what are you doing to stack the odds, not what are your best practices.

I am soooo guilty of this. I guess I'm hoping every little thing is stacking the odds in my favor- even if my brain really knows the truth. Power of wishful thinking?

    Yes. Yes. Yes.

  • My UO is definitely unpopular.

I don't understand the whole football culture.  I get that it is fun to cheer for a team, get together to watch games, etc.

What I don't understand is how some people let a certain team define who they are.

SD Chargers beach towel, SD Chargers car stickers, SD Chargers beer cozy, SD Chargers umbrella, curtains, rugs, plates, etc etc etc.  Just too much.
