Re: UO Thursday

  • I hope that is isn't an UO, but I'm afraid it might be:

I think that if you indulge in watching lesbian/gay porn and/or fantasize about it and you oppose marriage equality, then you are a monarch of douchebaggery.

    Lafayette!!!! Yay!!!

My UO: I hate havin teachers' kids as students. They act like their ish doesn't stink and they think they can get away with anything and everything. Many times their parent has the same attitude and thinks they can do no wrong. Aargh!

I'm definitely for marriage equality but lesbian/gay porn has never done it for me.

It's not really an either/or.  I was just in a fb feud with a "friend" who always talks about how hot two women together is (posts porn-y pics with two women, etc.) and then just posted a Bible verse to show how gay marriage is a sin.  Pisses me off!

Agreed. I may have a different perspective from having a gay sibling, but my sister is no worse or better than I am and she deserves to be just as happy.

Absolutely. I just feel like especially among certain a-hole men there is a huge double standard here. Like, your sexuality is ok if it's being used to turn me on, but not ok within a loving and committed relationship.

I read Twlight when it first came out and liked it well enough.

I was super excited for the first movie, but it was the most awful, terrible, horrible, waist of two hours, worst acting, movie I have ever seen.  I have seen snip-its of the other movies and they are all just as horrible,  why anyone ever watched them is beyond me.

I think there is an appropriate way to dress based on your body size/type.   Just because you might feel comfortable in tight clothing with a muffin top/rolls hanging out doesn't mean it's an appropriate clothing style for your body.

I can't figure out how she got those shorts on her body. This seems to be defying the laws of nature.

This particular topic drives me bonkers. I've been a bigger girl for a while now. I still have no idea why some clothes is even made in my size. I certainly have no desire to wear tiny shorts, bikinis, mini skirts, super low-rise jeans, horizontal stripes, the list goes on & on. I'm super self-conscious about what I wear & making sure it fits me properly. Dressing like that just makes you look bigger than you are & has got to be uncomfortable as hell!

  • I have another one and I sincerely hope that this doesn't offend anyone:

I am really liking TTC.  I like drinking the green tea and the pom juice and the sex and using the opks and paying attention to my cycle.  My first was a BIG oops (maybe a FFFC one day I'll explain) and our second was a bit of a surprise also so this time actually preparing for it and really trying is kind of empowering.  I know I may feel differently if I was trying for my first and/or it ends up taking longer than a year or so.

Apparently, this is UO on Parenting. Body acceptance and all that. You should wear WHATEVER you want, if you feel comfortable. I used this pic as an example and was pretty much told "Well, if she's comfortable, what's it matter?"

I guess I would tend to agree with the Parenting board on this one then. I couldn't give 2 shits less what other people are wearing.

I 100% agree with the whole body acceptance thing. I absolutely refuse to believe this woman is physically comfortable in this get up. FFS, I have jeans that are a size up for when I'm on my period because my regular jeans get too snug.

I also think we should be teaching our children to respect the people around them. Forcing the entire world to stare at your azz because you refuse to put on clothes that fit is rude. I'm not saying you need to dress to my exact taste but, a little consideration for those who have to look at you would be nice. Maybe that's my UO.

    You're lucky!

    I am way over TTCing.

And just a quick FYI, POM juice only increases your sugar intake.  It doesn't help with your lining. (Or so said some bumpies that were being monitored and had thin lining and were trying to thicken it up - POM did nothing)

I don't know why people continue to think it helps.  There are no scientific studies showing it helps.  None.  :/

I'm sorry :( I know that most here feel the way you do. I really hope I didn't make anyone feel extra shiity about it.

And thanks for the info about the pom juice! It's tasty, but expensive! I think I'll cool it a bit next cycle.

I think it is cruel to verbally abuse telemarketers. I was one as a 16 year old kid, and it was horrible, getting death threats, vulgar propositions, and other horrible things that no one should hear, but especially a kid. I appreciate not really getting telemarketer calls now that I don't have a land line, but I do try to be polite if I do get them as I'm hanging up on them. There could be a kid on the other line, but, regardless it is a person. Berating telemarketers won't change anything - if you have a problem take it up with the company that uses that practice. You shouldn't ever give yourself the right to be abusive to another person, and feel superior about it.

This one's kind of lame but I can't stand the song Home by Philip Phillips. I heard it on the radio this morning and it made me stabby.

It makes me think of the Summer Olympics---they played it constantly during the women's gymnastics competition this summer.

Yes. Thank you. I have seen ugly babies - doesn't mean they are going to be ugly people. ALSO - I think all freshly-born babies are GUH-ross. Ew. Just... ew.

My UO is VERY unpopular. I am *personally* anti-homosexual, but I don't see why that means I am against homosexuals. It's just for me, and since I am not lesbian, it really has no impact on anybody. It would only be wrong if I trashed someone else for being gay - which I don't. That's their life, and I expect them to have thought about it and come to their own conclusions. AND I also think I could be wrong! But if I say that out loud, I'm evil. I believe that the government should have nothing to do with marriage or deciding who should be allowed to marry who (basically that makes me pro-marriage equality). Although I am married, I don't think married people should have any extra benefits beyond what unmarried people have. It's such a hoax.

Perhaps I'm having a reading fail, but I cannot wrap my head around the sentence in bold.  How are you personally anti-homosexuals but not against homosexuals?  What exactly are you against then?

The only issue I have with this is that you feel the need to call yourself "anti-homosexual." They way you are using that makes it seem like you have made the choice not to be homosexual. But you are ok with others choosing to be homosexual. I feel like you are implying that there is a decision to be straight or gay at some point.

This seems so strange to me. I love grilling over charcoal because I feel that it give the food a more rich flavor, like cooking over a camp fire.

Your statement makes no sense, you contradict yourself and also sound ignorant.

Why not just say you are not a homosexual and have no homosexual tendencies, but you support homosexuals.

To say you are anti-homosexual, means you ARE anti homosexuals, not that you just aren't one.

Well... I did say it was unpopular >.^ Sorry for the confusion - I do think I can think homosexuality is wrong without having anything against homosexuals.

Let's break this away to another topic to clarify: I am super straight-laced. I remained a virgin until my wedding night. It was really difficult for me, but it was something I decided was the right thing to do for my life (there was plenty of catch up to be had... we had sex 2-5 times a day on our honeymoon. Thursday was the 5x >.^) Just because I thought saving myself for my husband was the right thing to do doesn't mean that I laid down the law on anyone else. My best friend lives with her boyfriend. She thought I was C.R.A.Z.Y for staying a virgin. I thought I was crazy. But just because I practiced abstinence doesn't mean I have a problem with ANYONE that didn't. Heck, it wasn't even a requirement for my spouse. It was my opinion that I applied to my life. Why can't I be pro-abstinence without having a problem with normal people?

    Hope that helps >.^

I know that medical care is free in Canada (except MSP), but for the most part, I think we have big problems with our medical system and I don't really like it. Hospitals are crowded, nurses are overworked and underpaid, doctor shortages, nurse shortages, long wait lists for surgeries, etc. etc.  Whenever I go to the doctor it's like as soon as I'm in his office he's in a hurry to get me out.

I would pay for better care.
