Did you see your Dr. or the ER Dr.? The hospitals here would not have sent you home. They would have admitted you to LD where you and baby could be monitored 24/7 until delivery. Any level of abruption depletes the amount of oxygen baby gets, and if you suffer a complete abruption you could bleed out. I would definitely call your OB and ask if or why anything more isn't being done. So sorry you dealing with this, will be praying for you.
I did see an ER doctor and he admitted me to the hospital where I stayed until yesterday, actually. I was very frustrated because they said that there was nothing more they could do and that I could home as long as I had no more bleeding or pain, but this is way too serious to play around with. Well, I called my OB today and she was extremely concerned about my situation. I am going to see her on Monday for a full examination and from there she will decide if hospitalization is needed, which I am fully expecting it will. The whole process has been so disorganized and confusing up to this point and I am already so worried about DS, I wish I could get some straight answers. I have felt alright today, but I'm not taking any chances. Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers. Knowing I have so much support is a big help.
Abruption a are very serious! Please do your kick counts, stay hydrated and if anything feels "not right" demand that they do something more! Believe it or not if it does get worse, they can get baby out no problem as long as you get there on time. The major concern is you hemorrhaging, the uterine vessels can bleed large volumes very quickly. Not trying to scare you but want you to know its not something to mess with. Prayers and HUGGS!
All this! This is very serious and I am not trying to scare you. Is the hospital you went to a bigger hospital? Does it have a nicu? Did they even call your ob while you were there? I hope everything stays stable until Monday and go to the hospital asap if anything seems abnormal...preferably a different hospital!
No, it was a smaller hospital with no NICU. The doctor seemed very incompetent, and he didn't call my OB. He didn't give us satisfactory answers to any of our questions. I will be going to a much bigger and better-staffed hospital this time, if I have to. By the way, you guys can't shake me up any more than I already am; I'm just glad that there are ladies on this board that know a few things about this condition. I'm carefully counting kicks and drinking plenty of water. I am fully prepared to get to the hospital as quickly as possible. I'll keep you guys posted.
That is terrible! I am shocked your ob wasn't called. I'm glad you are keeping a close eye on things and I am sending you positive thoughts. Hopefully it was a partial and not severe, although that is still serious. And yes, please keep us posted! Hugs.
I know how scary and terrifying it can be. I had a partial abruption with DD, and they could never even tell me why. I spent months on bedrest.
Have you been referred to an mfm? I was sent to one, and met several other women with abruptions. All of our babies were born full term and healthy.
It is discouraging, and the bleeding is terrifying, but don't give up! Baby's, and their mommies!, are incredibly resilient! I will be praying for both of you!
Eta. I was reading some of the other posts, and I dont think the er doc was wrong. My er doc, ob, and later mfm all agreed that hospitalization would not improve the outcome. The only thing that the doctors can do is wait and see what happens.
Keep your feet up, drink water, and try to remember to eat. Feel free to vent, because I know how frustrating it can be. PM me if you ever want to talk.

The reason I said that was that she was told a severe abruption, not partial. I am really hoping that is what the Dr meant though, as that had a much better prognosis. But either way, I am surprised her ob was not contacted.
