Words for penis and vagina.

Do you have words you use for penis and vagina instead? Like, towards your kids? My s/o was laughing the other day because I call vaginas 'hoo-hoos' or 'peeps'. That's what my mom and all my aunties call it, and it just stuck!

Am I the only one that uses weird words?! I know a lot of people use 'pee pee' which I still giggle like a teenager when I hear that.

I don't have any kid approved words for penis yet since I have no boys!

My 2 and 4 year olds say penis and vagina! My mom was all about proper terminology when I was little, so I am passing it on. We also say "pee pee" though.

I will use the real words with my kids. I do recall my mom referring to my then 5-year-old brother's penis as a "wizzle stick" though!

We use the proper terms for all body parts. I feel it's important to use the correct terms. Of course when they're little they can't Pronounce them correctly, so we would hear them say "gina" and "peanuts".

Eta: My parents encouraged the use of using the correct words. And my nana was a pediatric nurse, so I know it started with her.

I'm pretty sure my parents used the corret terminology with me and my sis; my mom's a biology teacher, so she was very scientific about the whole thing. That being said, I think I mostly referred to it as "down there" until I hit my twenties, and now I prefer vajajay. Don't really talk about penii though, so no fun words.

We use "penis" and "vagina", but my daughter has taken to calling her parts her "front butt" and "back butt." She came up with that terminology on her own.

DH and I talked about this when DD was younger and we were trying to decide what to call things. We decided it was just better to call them what they were. When you think about it though, who really cares if we call them other names? Eventually they'll know the anatomically correct term, but I don't think we're harming them by calling them other things like "hoo hoo" or "pee pee" or whatever. We call their abdomen/stomach "tummy" and some parents refer to toes as "piggies." And then there are all sorts of cutesie names for things like "binkie" or "boo boo/owie," "num num's," etc etc... Mostly we try to speak in plain English to our children and not much baby talk, but a little here and there probably is fine, IMO.

Haha, this is exactly what DD calls her parts too! No idea how she thought of that. The other day when the kids were having a bath she asks, "why does Declan's front butt stick out?" Lol!

Lizards!!! Oh my goodness I am dying! Too funny! My in-laws and DH also say "one eyed snake" and "worm"... applying animal names to it just makes me gag! BUT, it is very funny to hear.

I talk about labia, not vagina with my two year old daughter. Generally that is the part of her anatomy she is talking about - not her vagina. Plus, it has the added bonus of not sounding inappropriate if she talks about it in public in her two year old voice (she pronounces it "ladia" like lady)

Judge me if you want, but I hate the v word. I use hoo ha. My nephew calls them his pirates because he couldn't pronounce privates and he's called them that ever since and I think it's pretty cute.

We call it a wiener but used to bounce between wiener, pee pee or winker. I find its easier to name the boys parts because when they ask what it is you can see it. Girls don't pee from their vagina but when kids ask what it is they are referring to where the pee comes from. I don't know what we would call it if we had a girl this time. I think fanny works by DH said flat out no. My cousins call it a front bum which I just don't like. But we will have to wait and see :

DS calls it his 'eenus' because we use proper terms but he can't pronounce it well enough. He also calls it his "Ah Oh". Because every time we change his diaper we say ah oh, to try to get him ready for potty training.

Woohoo! For both. My boys know what a penis is, but they still use woohoo. When they use the bathroom, they still say "have to hold my woohoo."

lol, NOT kid appropriate! Although hearing my maybe future son call his penis a 'meat sword' kiiiiiiiiinda makes me want to teach that, just because I'm a huge jerk and it would horrify my mother.

I also believe in the importance of using proper terminology! Penis and vagina are anatomical parts of the body and are nothing to be ashamed of. Calling it by nicknames, IMO, gives the impression that the proper terms are bad in some way. It can also cause confusion.

I know of an instance where a young girl, probably about 4 or 5, was inappropriate touched and she told her teacher that someone touched her "cookie". Teacher had no idea what that meant. It was finally determined what she meant, but not without a delay. If the little girl knew the proper term, immediate action would have been taken. And what if the teacher just brushed off the "cookie" comment altogether??

My mom called my little bro's penis his "buddy" growing up.

I don't remember what we called a vagina. I'm pretty sure the few times it came up, we just referred to it as down there or private parts.

my husbands grandmother called his his gizmo so that's what he says. lol. in my house we call it a peep or a peach. but only for the little kids. as they get older they don't call it anything, really. they'll either just gesture to te region or say down there.

For DS we call it a winky. I haven't given it much thought what to call a vagina yet. When we were little my mother and grand mother called it a pee-shee, which is an Italian term. Maybe we'll stick to that. I don't think there is anything wrong with having kids words for private parts. It's not like they won't know what a vagina or penis is when they get older.

My cousin taught her sons the proper terms and they were obsessed with the word penis. Every where they went they would walk up to people and tell them "you have a penis" or "you don't have a penis". This went on for a while and in some very awkward places. Her older son would sit in church and very loudly say peeeeeennnnniiiiissssssss over and over again.

haha PP reminds me that my 3 year old nephew is very big right now into pointing out that boys and girls have different parts. When he draws pics of people he draws a big circle. Thats the head and the body all in one. Then he draws 5 lines that make it look like a sun and he'll indicate that 2 are arms, 2 are legs, and one is a peep. Then for girls he draws only 4 lines. So funny. So awkward.

DD knows penis and vagina, but prefers to use front bottom and back bottom. The way I see it, if she knows what they really are, she can use them if anything like sexual abuse was to happen. But, on the other hand, I'm not going to force her to use them with me and DH if she doesn't want to. I refer to it as vagina for the most part.

I swore before DS was born I would call it penis and vagina but I just can't. I don't know why. I call a penis a "pee-pee". No need for vagina quite yet. He is only 3 and he doesn't have one. I should start working to use the correct terminology with him.

I was big on making sure my daughter knew the proper names, so I've always called it a vagina and penis. However, my daughter had a hard time saying it so she started calling it a "ginny." It's stuck.

I work in a nursing home and one of my patients always says drain his lizard to me when he has to pee. I've never heard anyone else say they had to drain their lizard so I thought it was something he came up with.
I have no idea what I'm going to have my child call it. I usually refer to the vagina as lady bits or a muff and the penis as winkie.
