Yes, I agree with quite a few things in these articles. We teach DS the proper terminology because god forbid he was ever sexually abused, I want him to be comfortable with telling us exactly what happened. Yes, I'm a Debbie downer, but being a teacher, I've seen way too many abused children in my career so I know it happens more than people realize.
My niece is 4. My brother and SIL use proper terminology, but somehow she ended up calling her girl-parts her "lady"...I think she couldn't pronounce labia. I'm not sure.
I don't think she's quite grasped the idea of a penis yet, as to my knowledge she has never seen one, and couldn't care less if boys are different than girls just yet.
I usually refer to genitalia as girl-bits or boy-bits, though the term hoo-ha (new to me since joining TB) is hilarious and will probably stick.
My ex boyfriend called his boy-bits his "one eyed friend" and used third person to talk about it, like a separate entity. It was kinda creepy. :P
